Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 25-26)

Pretty busy week and some great weather here meant less gaming than usual but I still managed to play some 🙂
Hellblade 2 - Wow! Loved the first game, and this is better. The graphics and sound are simply amazing, and the overall experience 2-3 hours in is really great. Now, this game is not for everyone, just like the first one. Its a dark and grim walking sim for pretty long sections at a time so far, but damn its a good one!
Xdefiant - I said I would play a few games and I have. Its not bad, but not great either. Theres potential, and my son likes it more than me, but I feel likes theres some work to be done if Ubi wants players to stick around.
The Settlers - new allies - I played some of the tutorials and it looks the part but I didnt get that warm and cosy nostalgia I was hoping for. But it seems pretty good so I will play some more. Would be better with m&k of course but it was better than expected with a controller.

Destiny 2 Lightfall - As I used to play Destiny 1 & 2 a lot (scary to think of how many hours its been over the years) I want to see the end of the Light and the Darkness story so its great that Lightfall is now on PS Plus as I dont want to give Bungie more money or start playing D2 again outside of the campaign. I´m some missions in and its ok but not anything special. I guess it builds nicely towards The Final Shape though. However, being a lapsed player, ***** me its hard to get going. ***** is thrown at you from all sides like go here, play this, do this and it mixes old and new story parts so its really confusing. Cant imagine being a totally new player to Destiny, with all the cut content on top that makes it even harder to follow the story in the right timeline. Anyhow, once Im done with Lightfall I might wait for The Final Shape to be on plus before jumping in or I might get it at release to sort of be done with it 😊

A little less game time than normal this week but I’ve manager some hours at least 🙂
Immortals of Aveum - I’ve finished the story, which all things considered (including characters and such) was pretty decent. The world, gameplay, presentation and exploration are all very good imo. I’ve got two trophies left for the Platinum, which is also a very fun one. So all in all I really like the game, around 8,5/10 and would recommend anyone with PS Plus to try it out at least. Its probably not for anyone. Hope it hits GamePass soon as well.
Synapse VR - I’ve reached the end of the story, think Im gonna go for the platinum as the gameplay is very fun.
Suicide Squad - I had to play the trial. Its not very good. Might work with friends but solo? Nah

Robocop - I've finished and platinumed it. Really good game, old school fun and great humor. Can really recommend it!
Synapse - The gameplay in this game is really fun and addicting, and as you play you unlock some cool abilities that makes it even more fun. Like being able to use kinetic powers to grab and smash enemies There are also generous save point making it easy to play in shorter bursts as well as longer sessions, I tend to play shorter sessions when playing in VR.
Immortals of Aveum - Started this after finishing Robocop and I have to say I'm surprised at how much I enjoy it given the mixed reviews. The first two hours are really good imo, it might get repetetive and tedious and boring after a while but after rereading the review here on EG I dont really agree with some of the negative points, at least not yet. Interesting to see how I feel about the game in 10 hours more but right now I'm looking forward to playing more
Dave the Diver - I've played a bit, and can see the appeal so I'll play more but I dont think it'll be my GOTY. But its a nice game to play in between other games
Miasma Chronicles - I liked their previous game Mutant Year Zero and this game is very similar in gameplay but I feel like the setting and story in Mutant was better but I havent played for that long so it might change. Another game Im playing a short while here and there.
Harold Halibut - looks absolutely amazing but plays slow and boring as hell sadly... might give it some more time though, it might grow on me

Since last week

The Expanse - finished the game. It started pretty good but the last third of the game before the end wasnt quite as good as the story slowed down and the environments werent as fun. Overall though I enjoyed it!

Robocop - Im really enjoying this game. Its good, old school fun AA gaming at its best with pretty funny dialog and characters.

Synapse PSVR 2 - The game is really good and super fun and VR makes all the difference as Im not usually in to roguelikes but the gameplay and mechanics are great!

FF 7 Rebirth - I’ve finished the game. Simply awesome! Dont know what to add to all the positive things already said but its high on my list of favorite games 🤩

Brothers A tale of two sons - a favorite game of mine, had to take the opportunity to play it again. Still very good, and still very emotional 🥲

The Expanse - About half way and enjoying it a lot more than I had hoped. Looking forward to continuing the story over the weekend!

I also got Robocop lined up, picked it up in the sale, I think Im going to enjoy this game a lot.

Happy gaming y’all!

Re: Talking Point: Xbox Fans, Are You Still Enjoying Halo Infinite In 2024?

mac_da_man

I played the not very good campaign and tried some multiplayer but it quickly got boring due to lack of content so I feel like Infinite is best left to be forgotten in a dark corner somewhere. I did play some older Halo games which I love just to remind myself of the glory days and I still hope we can get a great Halo game again in the future…

FF 7 Rebirth - just finished the game, and what a game it is! So much fun to play, great story, goofy and silly at times but powerful and emotional at times. Perfect combo. And what a world they’ve created to explore and some fun minigames and QB. This game is high on my all time favorites now and does so many things better than Remake. Simply awesome!

Stellan Blade demo - very impressed, this is going to be a good one!

Final Fantasy 16 Still mainly playing this amazing game. I havent been this hooked on a FF game since the original FF 7! Close to the end of the story, but dragging it on a bit by doing the not so great side missions etc. Might as well go for the platinum trophy down the line, just cause its such a good game imo.

TLOU 2 - got the upgrade and tried it out just to see how it plays and it feels and looks really great, but it then already did that. Still, perfect excuse to play it again, but not yet. Will play the part 1 remake first 🙂

Vertigo 2 VR havent really played it since Im all in on FF 16 but I tried it for maybe half an hour and it seems really fun so I'll go all in on this next.

Final Fantasy XVI - Im really enjoying it and I really like the story. The game is a bit unevenly paced though, the epic parts followed by slow parts with pretty uninteresting quests maybe could have been done better. And the sidequests are not the highlights of the game…. It really looks great this game, both artistically and technically very impressive. Great game all in all, cant wait to play more and find out where the story goes.

Hot Wheels 2 - needed a game in between when not able to play for very long and Hot Wheels 2 fits in perfect. Is basically more of the same, so if you liked the first game you’ll like this one but dont expect much more than that.

I’ve put Prince of Persia on the to-play list, liked the demo thats out. Also might pick up Vertigo 2 for VR as a game in between sessions of FF 16

Re: Feature: Pure Xbox's Game Of The Year 2023

mac_da_man

This is in many ways just a list of games a lot of people played, read games on GamePass, and maybe not indicative of the quality of the games thenselves. Like having Starfield at the top is the perfect example of this, its a good game but is it the best game released in 2023? Nah

Re: Poll: Four Months Later, Are You Still Playing Starfield?

mac_da_man

I´ve finished it and my playtime was at around 60 hours, it started great but it felt mediocre in the end and even if the concept of new game + is really cool I dont see myself playing it again as I dont see them fix all the things that bugged me. Far from Bethesdas best game imo.
