Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 8-9)

I've been playing mainly two games this past week

Halo - Campaign Evolved - which I've finished. Its been a long time since I played the first Halo and it was really awesome to revisit it. Just the title screen was enough to give me goosebumps. I think however that nostalgia plays a big part in how much you enjoy the game, as its an old game which shines through the new coat of paint at times and the remake isnt perfect and I feel like Halo Studios could have done better, and also included multiplayer. Playing on the series S, the fps was stable which is great but the image is very blurry which turns out to be by design as you only have motion blur to toggle on/off which turned off only helps clearing up the image a little. On PC you can mod the file to turn off other default settings. Odd choice imo. Anyway, all in all I had a good time playing Halo CE again, many great memories from back in the day!

Moss - the forgotten relic - So, I’ve played both Moss games in VR and this is both of those games in one but flat. And having almost finished the first, I can say its not a bad game, its a charming platformer, but a lot of what made the games so awesome in VR is lost in these versions. The sense of being right there in VR adds so much, its hard to describe. Anyway, will keep going and maybe even platinum it, we'll see.

I could probably start resident evil 5 but I don't know!

Update: deleted the E day beta neither mode is enjoyable to play in reality!

I originally had planned to play the Gears E Day beta a bunch this weekend but the beta has so far left me dissapointed. Another case of a game ditching their long time fans and chasing a new audience. Instead I'm going to play Resident Evil Requiem.

I'm jumping between AC Black Flag and Tales of Berseria with a bit of Palworld and I'm waiting on Lego Batman coming from Amazon i really need to stop playing multiple games at once lol. I'll probably play some Battlefield 6 later on with my mate as well. And I'm also playing Dragon Quest 7 reimagined on Switch as well forgot about that for a minute.

Some E Day, for sure. I'm not in love with it but I don't hate it. For all the changes made, the map designs don't take use of them. There's maybe two points where you can clamber up on shelves on the supermarket versus map but it doesn't do a whole lot for you. The aiming also feels... different? It's hard to put into words but the camera doesn't really go where I expect it to when hard aiming with the gnasher, and the point blank kill range feels wildly random unless it's the servers getting hammered which could be the case.

Otherwise, playing Summer in Mara, might start a replay of RE Requiem.

@oopsiezz If it means anything, there's a Classic control style that puts running and some other things back on the A button. It's not perfect but it's closer if you don't like the changes.

With all the Ghost Recon Wildlands news and updates I am going to spend the weekend giving it another go to see if it sticks this time.

I always preferred Ghost Recon Breakpoint as it just suited me more especially after they added the immersion mode that removed the gear score nonsense. Plus having John Bernthal as the main bbeg is just extra cool points in any game 😉

Even so I will try to keep an open mind and give Wildlands another chance.

EDIT: Well its very much stuck. Not sure if it is part of the recent update or an earlier one but I am loving the fact that you can turn off the ai squad and lone wolf it. Changes the game dynamic a lot and its why I always enjoyed Breakpoint over Wildlands. So now I can go full Sam Fisher & not have to deal with baby sitting the ai it looks like I will be exploring Bolivia for a while longer.

Oh yeah 60 fps / 4K is nice too

Sniper Elite 5, I'd been watching someone on YouTube over the last few months playing Sniper Elite Resistance and after trying it on Gamepass got utterly addicted to it and have now killed 200 people as a dirty invader 😆

I have since bought Resistance, 5 and 4 and am currently playing through the campaign of 5

I’m finally playing games again, but still not as much as I used to. I’ve taken a massive step back because it was consuming too much of my life, free time, and mind. That said, I did buy Final Fantasy XIV for Switch 2. It’s my first MMO since RuneScape in the 90s (no joke), so I’m overwhelmed, but I like it so far. It’s even better than I can play this type of game on handheld - one of the main reasons why I purchased it to begin with.

Nothing for me. Not feeling gaming atm.

This weekend I'm working on beating what I think is the final boss in FFX but will also be playing more Fantasy Maiden Wars -DREAM OF THE STRAY DREAMER-.

Rogue Trader. Flipping tough to get into - the other day it took me 30 minutes to work out how to give someone a health kit - but once you get used to the systems, it’s all you could want from a CRPG. It should keep me going for a while!

Haven’t been playing much on Xbox these last few months. I do have some games in the backlog I can take a look at though so we’ll see.

Dragon Warrior (NES) - I'm just grinding and slaying to get as much Gold/XP as I need for my Magic Armour.

Rayman Jungle Run (Windows Phone) - I'm done for now, I don't feel like going for perfect scores in each level at this time.

Hexic (Windows Phone) - Virtually done with this as well.

Definitely Beast of Reincarnation, New World, and Ghost Recon Wildlands.

@RiverGenie heck yeah. I was just excited to click on ghost war and get into a multiplayer match. Pretty fast at that. I hope a lot of people who didn’t get when came out dig the multiplayer. I love that camo actually works in a PvP game. I’ve had players on other team walk right over me laying on ground. Wildlands is the closest thing I’ll get to play probably rest of my life lol that feels like Socom. I’ve said for years it feels like what Socom would have evolved into. Make little smaller maps and have 8v8 it would be Socom with updated mechanics and graphics. 60fps is so good. Breakpoint has had that but I just prefer wildlands story

@bert0503 wildlands is so good. I’m happy to see PvP fills up pretty quick. I hope new people like it and it stays going for awhile. It’s closest thing to Socom I can play on console

@DukeeDukems wildlands. Hell yeah. Ubisoft freaking hit it out of the park with this content. Plus ghost war pretty active again. So awsome

that helldivers is just it hits so well i think everyone’s gotta play that with some really fun people who don’t mind losing and that’s a time to remember :,)

I’m gonna play use that trial I never used for $1 of gamepass for 14 days; and try WILDLANDS all over (legit the Xbox one version never upgraded to the series x version: so I’ll download it if it’s on gamepass with the trial or buy it if it’s on sale…if not using the Xbox one version on series X) but yeah; WILDLANDS and last week those tomb raider games the new ones not the remakes but that trilogy from years ago those with the modern looking realistic Lara those were on sale, I am gonna try to play the first one tomorrow I think it’s called shadow of the tomb raider?

I have had one mission so far that I had to turn them back on for as I had to defend a fixed position and I just got swarmed solo.

Otherwise I kept it at zero for the solo experience & its been fun so far.

@badboidre I’m not actually too sure why my friend. I feel like I’ve got gaming fatigue after so many years. I’m sure I’ll pick a controller up again at some point soon though! Happy gaming.

@badboidre Well I do like the controls it's just the modes really i don't enjoy sweaty multiplayer anymore on gears and I just found the seige mode dispite finding a team of very good players to play with I just wasn't enjoying it at all I played two games of the longer type seige ina row and ended up deleting the beta straight away and jumping on something enjoyable and relaxing
The games are too long the objectives are too spread out and the bosses are just unreasonably bullet spongey.
Also I don't see any reason why we need to have three other teams running around the same map apart from the odd help for and from another team it's pointless.
If I want to play something like that I'll play Helldivers 2 at least that's actually enjoyable to play.
I'd say the campaign will be amazing in E-day but my time with the multiplayer portion of these games is probably at an end now unfortunately I'd rather old school standard horde tbh it's a shame gears multiplayer especially was huge for me for years but it's just not fun in this version

Already played a bunch of Tōkon and Gears E-Day beta. Tōkon is good and there is staying power but I don't know if it's worth more than $20-30 even as a fighter, could be good long-term but hard to see it yet. E-Day is different and similar enough to be extremely interesting from a gameplay standpoint. Siege is great, and pvp is better but not great and let's double/triple team shotguns rule the game (just like Halo CE pistol). There is some input latency I haven't experienced in past Gears games that is affecting the fun even on 2.4ghz wireless controllers and Ethernet connection with a beefy computer running well above 60fps.

Started BoR and it's a lot better than reviews and people have stated. Overall it's gameplay is very Nier-like and the story isn't too bad just a bit forced without enough context. Not mysterious like Nier just feels like you should already know things, it's weird people thinking it's slow... anything but that.

I saw the article on Sektori and have been playing that a lot. Also a little Denshattack and Hades 2
