It's the penultimate weekend before things get royally spooky. Makes me wonder if any of you are planning on playing something scary...
It's been a relatively quiet week for new releases if we consider what a crazy month October has been, but big names like We Were Here Tomorrow and Final Fantasy Resonance launched just a few days ago. Then there's all the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 hoo-ha, but if none of those are to your liking, perhaps you'll find a bargain in our Shocktober Sales roundup, and it's worth remembering you can try out this week's Free Play Days titles too!
Alrighty then, let's get into it. Here's what we're playing on Xbox this weekend:

Normally, around this time of year, I'm fully invested in the spooky vibes of October's final days. I'd be erecting blanket forts in the living room to watch horror films and play scary games, but I'm not really feeling it this year. I don't know why, it could be that it's still 25-28c in my house at night, but my goal for this weekend is to bring some of that spooky spirit back.
I'm off to a good start, having just wrapped up End of Abyss. It's a really great game with some pretty heinous design flaws, but overall, it's one of my favourite titles of the year. It's scary too, and got me with a couple of its jump scares.
To keep the spooky train rolling, I'm going to play a mixture of Silver Pines and Tenebris Somnia, with a generous smattering of Gears of War: E-Day. Admittedly, the latter isn't exactly scary in Versus mode, but it's still a sPoOoOkY game innit?!
But, if my appetite for scares withers away, I'll probably just pick up Ratatan or Star Wars: Galactic Racer for the "yobshrim-🍾"
Spooky gaming, folks!

I'm going to be a bit boring and just say that I'm playing more Star Wars: Galactic Racer. It's my favourite game of the year and I'm having an absolute blast with Biddy Blas and the gang across all of its game modes right now.
Beyond that though, there's a game called Mr. Records that showed up in the ID@Xbox Showcase on Tuesday that has a demo in the Steam Next Fest, and I really want to try it on my ROG Xbox Ally X. I might even play some old GTA to get me in the mood for GTA 6 in a few weeks' time as well.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
