It's been a long time coming, but we're finally about to get a brand-new Gears of War game on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S (along with PC) in a few days' time, with Gears of War: E-Day serving as a prequel to Gears 1.

Gears of War: E-Day Release Date

Gears of War: E-Day officially launches for Xbox Series X|S and PC on Tuesday, October 6th.

There is also an early access version of the game, though. More on that down below.

Gears of War: E-Day Early Access Date

You can start playing the early access version of Gears of War: E-Day from Thursday, October 1st if you've bought either the Premium Edition, the Premium Upgrade Edition or the Collector's Edition.

The Coalition has officially revealed that Gears of War: E-Day will launch at 3pm UTC on October 1st and October 6th depending on whether you're playing the early access or standard release.

Gears Of War: E-Day Download Size

Gears of War: E-Day is expected to be around 100GB in size when it launches in October, although we don't know this for sure just yet.

It'll become apparent when the official pre-install begins for the game on September 29th.

Is Gears Of War: E-Day On Xbox Game Pass?

Yes, the standard edition of Gears of War: E-Day will be part of Xbox Game Pass from October 6th.

It will be available for PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate members on day one, but will not be available on Game Pass Essential, Premium or the new Starter tier. Premium members should expect to get it in October 2027.

Is Gears Of War: E-Day Xbox Play Anywhere?

Yes, if you're buying the game digitally instead of relying on Xbox Game Pass, Gears of War: E-Day will be playable across both console and PC thanks to Xbox Play Anywhere.

Will Gears Of War: E-Day Be Available On Xbox One?

No, Gears of War: E-Day is far too technically advanced to run natively on the Xbox One.

Gears: E-Day will launch for Xbox Series X|S and PC only this October, and there's no version for PS5 or Switch 2 either as it's an Xbox exclusive. The only way to play it on Xbox One will be via Xbox Cloud Gaming with a strong internet connection.
