@Cakefish i just wish it won't signal death to native Xbox games, cause optimization will be nonexistent and games will always run worse compared to PS6 version.
$500 (or even $600) worth of gaming box that last you the whole gen & some of the next gen, access to previous consoles games, and ulfiltered access to Steam + other stores library is amazing value. Though that might not be the case especially the latter part.
Too late and i wonder how they gonna reach Series S performance in handheld formfactor? Repurposing the Series S silicon is out of mind, too much power hungry. Designing new silicon for that is waste of money. The only cost-effective solution i can think of is using off-the-selves HX370 or something that has 890M/780M iGPU but compared to Series S APU, they have significantly different architecture not to mention if they are truly comparable in the first place. Wonder how that gonna work out...
Then again, we should be able to convert our digital library to physical copy. Sure it will have it's own issues in pratice but i think it's nothing major enough. I'm inclined to believe that the real reason it's not happening is because companies are slowly not liking it when you fully owned their games.
Instead of the overhyped stutter engine 5 with sh1tty framedrops and stutter here and there, i would like the new Halo to be developed using newest iteration of id tech engine. But yeah not gonna happen
Always had this on my mind, it would be VERY INTERESTING to see Capcom remaster DMC2 with alternative story and totally overhauled combat (remake i guess considering the effort needed) to do the title justice and live up to the series as it always meant to be.
Not like that, just go handheld + egpu dock please. Those who want definitive, next-gen Xbox gaming experience would eat up the cost (assuming bundled handheld console + egpu dock is more expensive than PS6) and broke people like me can buy just the handheld console that can be connected to TV with the included basic dock. They can save some money to buy egpu dock later down the road if they want to.
With how expensive PS5 Pro is and how i see that PS6 won’t be too far from that in terms of pricing, i still think that hybrid dockable handheld is the way to go for next Xbox, for the console to be still financially within reach by the masses. For example, handheld Next Xbox (targeted for 1080p60 portable gaming) & basic dock will be $449. More powerful, Pro dock with better GPU inside for 4K60 gaming can be sold separately for $300. They can be bundled together for $699 or cheaper. Then if MS wants to do mid-gen upgrade, they can release even more powerful dock and lower the price for the existing one.
Ah right it's that time again, reminding me of forgotten wishes and one of them is entire line-up of Kiseki series on Xbox. This year might finally be it!?
What did MS actually expect when they don’t even attempt to sell the consoles in more countries complete with full suite of services (gamepass, microsoft rewards, etc)?
Literally run like ass on all platforms it target. Maybe this game is just so fundamentally code-broken and messed up. Need to be rebuilt from scratch by talented devs for it to run better.
@InterceptorAlpha i guess developing $299 next-gen console at that time is very hard because imo the cut on XSS wasn't very thoughtful. Yet with all the cut it had, Microsoft still sold them at a loss.
Still, my ideal of XSS specs would be One X with architectural upgrades and that means 6TF RDNA2 gpu and 12GB GDDR6 224GBps memory. That imo would help so much and XSS won't have to lose out on 60fps mode XSX/PS5 game version usually had.
@InterceptorAlpha i completely forgot that the RAM in Series consoles isn’t unified. So what is the reason again for this technical decision? Why not just make it one big pool of 10 GB memory running at 224 GBps and let developers take advantage of that the way they see fit?
What an absolutely terrible decision. If anything, i'm inclined to believe they will announce more studio closures in next month showcase rather than games.
Sony or Nintendo or whatever company with loads of money, please save Tango Gameworks team and also buy the Hi-Fi Rush IP. I don't care if that game became exclusive to whatever platform, Hi-Fi Rush IP and original team behind it needs to be saved.
Why the f did this happening... ONE MONTH BEFORE YOUR OWN SHOWCASE XBOX WHY THE F*CK DID YOU DO THIS?!!!!!!!
HOLY F*CK*NG HELL .... Xbox can't appreciate unique and amazing game that is Hi-Fi Rush. They prefer boring and forgettable a$$ games with ugly a$$ relatable character. F*ck*ng f*ck you, Phil Spencer & team.
Lacking in selection of japanese games in their platform and look what they did, they close their own studio whose games have a very much DNA of japanese game. Holy ***** ***** PHIL SPENCER WHAT THE *****?!
Really devastating news... Like, Tango Gameworks man... The other 3 can go for good but Tango Gameworks? Really? WHAT THE F*CK IS PHIL SPENCER & HIS TEAM THINKING!!!!!
Pure handheld, no. But, hybrid? Absolutely. Just go all the way, hybrid with external GPU dock, MS. You target bigger market by doing so and this will allow mid-gen upgrade to be seamless and cheaper for your customers.
If they going with dual SKUs again for next-gen, Xbox should go Switch way but with proper external GPU dock for additional horsepower. 3nm Zen 5 based APU with console level optimization should lead to very good battery life.
This way, Next-gen Xbox has lower barrier of entry if you buy just the Xbox (has included basic dock for charging and outputting to external display). Or, definitive next-gen Xbox experience by buying the external GPU dock either bundled with the console together or buy it later separately. The console has major added value for those who want to play portably and for those who prefer classic experience, they won't lose anything.
This is first-party game and not the usual third-party exclusives that later will find their way to other platforms. This is also one of the best games last year, it's too much of a value to bring to other platforms imo.
Funny, platform with least games also is the platform who bleeds games the most to other platforms and still occasionally keep being skipped to this day. But whatever, just a pill of bitter truth Xbox fans had to swallow on monthly basis.
I understand the decision but it still suck, props to Nintendo for being at the forefront for preserving the culture of releasing games in physical format (assuming the rumour of Switch 2 games will have larger capacity cartridge).
People should just be allowed to buy Xbox proprietary disc in the future that allow them to make physical games of their own.

Someone tell AMD they can't keep putting RDNA2 and (barely changed) RDNA3 graphics to their newest handheld APU. The stagnation is real.
Also, will MS subsidizes the cost of these handhelds? It would be great if Xbox Ally X doesn't go over $599.
