Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 5-6)

Beat Mr Mosquito and Secret Agent Clank on Ps5 last week, including the platinum for Mosquito. Also beat Mega Man III on Switch/NSO.

Currently playing The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice.

The plan is to start something for spooky month after. Maybe the original Ps2 Silent Hill 2 Director’s Cut or Luigi’s Mansion 3 on Switch.

Re: Soapbox: Activision Is Bringing One Of The Best Remasters Ever To Xbox Game Pass

darkswabber

@Pabpictu it’s not inbetween. It’s a literal remake. They made the game with a new source code in a new engine.
If it was a remaster it would’ve maintained the original source code and engine.

A remake is when a game is remade, regardless of how much is done.

Another example is Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 on ps3. They lost all assets and source codes so they had to completely remake both games. They’re 1:1 remakes with almost no differences between the ps3 and ps2 versions but they where in fact completely remade due to the loss of all assets and source codes.

Re: GameStop Takes Jab At Xbox 360 Store Closure, Backfires Immediately

darkswabber

@Pabpictu that’s complete and utterly false and a myth spread by people that don’t know what they’re talking about.
I recommend checking out DoesItPlay.
Majority of games on PlayStation and Nintendo hardware, including ps5, work completely offline from the disc without a patch needed to fix the game.

DoesItPlay checks every physical game and wether they can be started offline from a disc, wether they’re broken without updates, wether updates add additional content and wether the game requires an online check.

Re: Talking Point: What Convinced You To Pick Xbox In The First Place?

darkswabber

I started with the original Xbox alongside my GameCube, then skipped the 360 and One in favor of a ps3/wii and wiiU/Switch/ps4. Ended up getting a XSX 2 years after the 9th gen started (did get a ps5 day 1).
I just recently got a working X360 Slim and I’m currently playing through some Guitar Hero and Rockband games on there.
Also got a Kinect capable Xone last year so I can play Kinect games if I’m ever in the mood.

I main Nintendo and PlayStation obviously but I do enjoy my time with my Xbox’.

Re: Review: Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun (Xbox) - Slick Space Marine Shooting Stomps Onto Game Pass

darkswabber

@Dangerdude nah the term was created because doom clones got a resurgence around the same time the boomer insult was created for people that don’t like change and progressiveness. It’s a joke name because “boomers” always complain about CoD clones and modern shooters not being up to snuff with DOOM.

Also super surprised boltgun wasn’t on xbox yet!
Bought the switch physical last august and that released a few months after the digital version.

Re: Review: Persona 3 Reload - A Fantastic Remake Of The RPG Classic Vorpal Blades Its Way Onto Xbox Game Pass

darkswabber

@Valkyrian @Romans12 do you two even know about Persona 3?
FeMC/the female protagonist is a fan favorite character in the franchise and it should’ve mosy definitily been included with this remake. That has nothing to do with political correctness, it’s straight up a removed features.
And leaks and insider speculation are already saying it’s being saved for an expanded rerelease so if that’s true it’s just an exclusion to sell more copies in 3 years.

Re: Reaction: Xbox Developer Direct 2024 Proved That Microsoft's New Format Really Works

darkswabber

The Avowed part was really bad IMO because the game just looked stilted and unimpressive and the talking felt like overselling what was shown like crazy.
The SE stuff felt like “we got paid for this but we won’t act comfortable”

But the other segments where great and well done IMHO. I also immediately installed hellblade 1 to beat that just before LaD8 releases because of the direct.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 13-14)

I completed Final Fantasy XVI on Ps5 last week and I’m currently replaying Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age on my Switch.

Also trying to reach level 200 in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 on Ps5/Switch/Xbox before Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth release.

Beyond that gonna play some Powerwash Simulator on XSX

Re: Another Xbox Console Exclusive Makes Its Way To PS5 Later This Month

darkswabber

@Friendly that’s been my takeaway with game journalism the past 10 years.
NintendoLife, PushSquare and PureXbox are great news sources with a lot of fun soapbox, joke and lighthearted articles.

Anyone else tends to clickbait and rely on negativity.

Although the big 3 aren’t save of clickbait either obviously.

EDIT: I don’t play on PC anyway and NL, PS and PX cover games big and small equally well so as a multiplatform console gamer these 3 satisfy me.

Re: Pick One: Which Is Your Favourite Xbox First-Party Release Of 2023?

darkswabber

1.) Hi-Fi Rush
2.) Ghostwire (played it on ps5 but still)
3.) forza motorsport 8
4.) starfield
Enjoyed all but some much more than the others.
The 3 games I haven’t touched are games I’ve heard from friends and family that I’m not missing out on anything as all 3 are bad.

EDIT: also really weird to count CoD MW3 as only like 1 week of its 1+ year development was under MS.
At that point also count Diablo IV and Crash Team Rumble.
EDIT2: I guess the same could be argued for Ghostwire but atleast that game was like 50% done under MS.

Re: Talking Point: What Are The Most Underrated Xbox Games Of This Year?

darkswabber

@RBRTMNZ open critic is a review aggregator and isn’t an authority on quality or critical intend.

And that you don’t personally consider scores as intended doesn’t make them such.

Most if not all game critics and journalists, both professional, video format or amateur, consider scores starting with 6 to be good and 5 to be average.

Re: Xbox Accidentally Leaks Peter Griffin & Solid Snake For Fortnite Chapter 5

darkswabber

Absolute hype.
Was getting Fortnite crew on Sunday eitherway but the BP looks amazing. Really hope for some great emotes too.
Also hope neither 🅱️eter or snake are secret skins as I want to use them ASAP.

Also for those new to the game, Fortnite Christmas starts next week which is 14 free cosmetics including 2 skins. Perfect way to get free stuff without paying!

Re: Talking Point: How Many Microsoft Rewards Points Do You Have Right Now?

darkswabber

I use them immediately when I reach 4k to get the Fortnite starter pack of the season but ever since the massive nerfs the gains have been extremely slow sadly.
I get it’s a “beggers can’t be choosers” situation but man the nerfs to the points system sucks.

EDIT: it’s still better than PlayStation’s system. That gets you like 100 points every month and you need 1250 to get a €5 card.

As a physical game collector Nintendo’s system feels the most rewarding. I’ve been almost exclusively relying on gold points from cartridge activation for eshop sales.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 18-19)

darkswabber

Beat Like a Dragon Gaiden a few days ago and absolutely cried at that ending. Also beat Castlevania Bloodlines and reached level 50+ in Fortnite OG

I’ve currently beaten 99 games this year and 299 unique games since 2017 so I’m doing an almost blind playthrough of Final Fantasy 7. The only things I know are the twist the internet has spoiler for the past 20 years now and everything that was brought over to 7 Remake.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 4-5)

darkswabber

Beat Dead Space (2023) on my XSX yesterday and Professor Layton and the Lost Future alongside the original PL trilogy on my 3DS.

Started playing Final Fantasy VII on my Switch today which is a mostly blind playthrough beyond the Aerith twist and what I know from FF7R.
Also started Fortnite Chapter 4 Season OG on PS5 yesterday. Never played before ch3 s3 so it’s pretty neat.
And finally I started Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask on my 3DS.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 7-8)

darkswabber

I beat Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 1 & 2 in the past week and started playing Solar Ash.

Still chipping away at Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations and I finally started Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 4 after taking a break from the game.

Beyond those I’ll probably be starting Professor Layton and the Curious Village and Super Castlevania IV.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 30 - October 1)

darkswabber

I beat TOEM and Ace Attorney: Justice for All last week and I’m currently playing Solar Ash and Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations.

With spooky month starting tomorrow I’m gonna play spooky games all month. My plan is to beat Super Castlevania IV, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, House of the Dead: Overkill, Until Dawn and Luigi’s Mansion 3 amongst other games.
Very maybe I’ll try Silent Hill 2 but that game is too spooky for me.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 23-24)

darkswabber

I beat Firewatch on my Xbox Series X last week and I continued playing Ace Attorney: Justice for All on Switch which I’m at the final episode for. I also started playing Baten Kaitos Remastered which is fun so far.

Beyond that I bought a handful of games including Gato Robotto, The Messenger, Neon White, Warhammer 40.000 Boltgun, Loop Hero and The Many Pieces of Mr. Coo which I might start too.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 16-17)

darkswabber

I beat Starfield yesterday on the Xbox Series X after playing it for almost 70 hours.
Currently continuing my playthrough of Ace Attorney: Justice for All I started on my Switch before Starfield.

Planning on starting Firewatch later and finally starting either God of War: Ghost of Sparta or Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time on Ps3.
Might also start Baten Kaitos 1+2 HD on the switch.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 9-10)

darkswabber

After beating Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty and Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara on my Ps3 this week and A Short Hike and Gris on my Xbox Series X this week I started Playing Starfield on my Xbox Series X and continued playing Ace Attorney: Justice for All on my Switch.

Once I’m done with those I’m thinking about playing Firewatch, TOEM and God of War: Ghost of Sparta.
