Re: Rumour: Day One Releases Delayed On A 'Case-By-Case Basis' For Xbox Game Pass Standard Tier

Serpentes420

@BAMozzy There's a big difference. Sony NEVER sold any version of PS+ with Day one new games and for Xbox it was Gamepass' main selling point.

However, I did say years ago when Gamepass first came out that most of the reason the brand new releases were included was because hardly anyone were buying the few 1st party releases Xbox put out anyway. Now that they bought their way into owning some relevant IP they are missing out on sales and need to recoup some of those losses.

Re: Indiana Jones And The Great Circle Dev Talks Xbox Showcase Reveal, And That First-Person Perspective

Serpentes420

Who wants to pretend they're Indiana Jones? If people like me who grew up on the franchise don't care anymore, who will? I think Xbox has another "flop" on their hands that won't mover the needle on selling Xbox's or Gamepass subs. Machine games should have just been honest and said "We make FPS games so we shoe horned Indiana Jones into a FPS game."

I'm in the internet minority, but the mechanics of this game looked terrible to me since its reveal. Hopefully Avowed is better than it has looked thus far or its another year of disappointment from 1st party Xbox studios.

Re: 'Indiana Jones And The Great Circle' Gameplay Has Landed, And It Looks Awesome

Serpentes420

@DennisReynolds I was going to be the lone voice of disappointment amongst the hype here. I thought the Indy voice was really good, but I don't like the art design for one. It looks like its somewhere inbetween Arkane studios stylized characters and photo-realistic and just didn't work for me. I hate the first person gameplay. Every shot they showed of Indy using tne whip to grapple enemies and 1st person fist fighting made me want to play it less. If most of the gameplay is that instead of using your pistol or a handy SMG I doubt I'll like it.

But its silly to get too excited or down on something from one 3 minute trailer. So I hope my first impression it's wrong and it's great.

Re: Poll: How Many Xbox Games Have You Actually Bought In 2023?

Serpentes420

@AshKirin19I can't really disagree with you. I got 2 years of GP with my Series S. Now that it is expiring, I'm done with GP. The plus side of GP though is it saves me from possibly spending money on the bad and mediocre games Bethesda put out this year and I played the good one at no additional cost.

Re: Starfield Dev Calls Out 'Unreasonable' Criticism From Some People On Social Media

Serpentes420

Starfield is the only game I've played (that I can remember at least) where I have not been able to complete a major part of the game because a bug just completely prevents you from continuing a questline. I'm sorry, the excuse of "game development is hard" doesn't cut it for me when its hard for all developers, but certain developers consistently release games that aren't broken at release.

For me the issue here is that Bethesda has gotten away with releasing buggy games and relying on modders to fix them for a couple decades now. While I know Bethesda the publisher and BGS are not the same entity, I haven't forgotten the fact that Bethesda the publisher forced Obsidian to put out New Vegas before it was ready and then used the resulting dip in Metacritic score to screw Obsidian out of a sizable bonus.

Lastly, if the developers of Starfield thought stuff like excessive loading screens, floating after shiny orbs, and revisiting the same few identical cave locations on randomly generated planets makes for a fun game, just leave the business now because you've clearly lost the plot.

Re: Microsoft's Gaming CEO Spent 917 Hours Playing Xbox Games This Year

Serpentes420

@THE_VITTLER WGAF how much Jim Ryan plays? I'll take a head of a game division that is a d*** and doesn't play a single video game, yet their studios consistently put out good to great games over a nice guy gamer whose studios put out fewer games and those games are mediocre to bad. I wonder if Phil's version of Starfield was as broken as mine?

Re: Disney Addresses Xbox Exclusivity Questions For Indiana Jones & Marvel's Blade

Serpentes420

@GuyinPA75 I completely agree. He is a step up from Mattrick who lost a lot of gamers, like me, that had 360s and jut skipped out on the XB1. I will give credit to Phil for GP and the Series S. Having a cheaper entry point convinced me to get a S to go along with my PS5. But I have been disappointed in the output of Xbox's studios both in amount of games and the quality of those games. So now, I think my Series S becomes a free-to-play game box until maybe Avowed or Fable releases and then maybe I'll pick up GP for a couple months again.

Re: Disney Addresses Xbox Exclusivity Questions For Indiana Jones & Marvel's Blade

Serpentes420

@Fiendish-Beaver I think Phil has failed to manage Xbox's studios effectively enough for them to put out quality 1st party titles. Halo Infinite was supposed to be the next decade of Halo and they aren't working on campaign content, no word of anything from Gears developers, the Perfect Dark reboot is apparently in development hell. He admitted they left Bethesda to do their own thing which has resulted in a bad game, a disappointment of a game, and a surprisingly awesome game.

I just think that he's too much of a PR guy and not a very effective manager, based on results. If the studio issues are on Booty instead, then Phil should replace him. A giant line up of studios doesn't mean anything if they aren't putting out consistent quality and quantity of games. Especially if they want us to hand MS over $200 a year for GP ultimate.

Re: Disney Addresses Xbox Exclusivity Questions For Indiana Jones & Marvel's Blade

Serpentes420

@Fiendish-Beaver Xbox has only itself to blame for being the 3rd place console. They spent the last 2 years of the 360, all of the XB1 gen, and now the first 3 years of the Series gen releasing very few first party games and even fewer good first party games. So now they are trying to buy their way back into relevance and mostly failing.

People are always questioning the exclusivity of MS games because MS is inconsistent. Everything Minecraft is multiplat for example. If Xbox could make their own good IP this wouldn't be an issue, but they can't so here we are. This situation is the product of over a decade of incompetence on Xbox's part. By the way, this incompetence includes nice-guy but terrible manager Phil Spencer.

Re: It Looks Like Xbox Has Another Exclusive Aiming For 2024 Release

Serpentes420

My Gamepass sub is up in a couple weeks and I'm not going to miss it. Xbox better step it up with their first party games if they want people to fork over $18 a month. In order for Gamepass to be "the best value in gaming" like the fanboys claim; I'm going to need 3 games a year I'm willing to pay $70 on release for. I bet MS can't pull that off.

Re: Xbox's Matt Booty Suggests Hellblade 2 Will 'Come Later' In 2024

Serpentes420

Man they sure are putting a lot of time and (probably) money into a franchise whose original game was more like an indy darling than a giant AAA success. It was praised for being interesting and different, also I think it came out during a bit of a lull in game releases (if I remember right).

Phil has wanted Xbox to have its own "God of War" type game and I feel like they've tapped Hellblade II to be that game. I don't think it can hit that, but I wasn't a massive fan of the first Hellblade either so I probably have some bias there.

Re: Diablo 4 Is Getting A Free Trial For Everyone On Xbox This Weekend

Serpentes420

I borrowed Diablo 4 from my local library long enough to play through the campaign. Maybe it was because I played as a Necromancer, but the game was too much like a clicker time waster game for me to want to keep playing it. I basically ran around holding down the main attack button until I won. I don't understand why anyone would want to keep playing such a dull game.

Re: Three Xbox Game Pass Titles Get New Reveals At July's Indie Showcase

Serpentes420

As with most of the games for the year and a half I've had Gamepass, a bunch of games I would never pay for that I'm supposed to be grateful for because they are "free" on a service Xbox now wants $17 a month for. The service has been losing more games than adding and in a 2023 with multiple "GOTY" contenders, thus far only 1 has been on GP and Hi-Fi rush would have retailed for $30-40. Maybe for some folks Gamepass has $200 a year of value, but not me. When my sub is up in December I'm out. Maybe I'll sign for a month or 2 in a year or 2 when Xbox has bought some titles worth playing.

Re: Bethesda's Indiana Jones Game Confirmed As An Xbox Exclusive

Serpentes420

@Kaloudz If Machine games Indiana Jones does Alien Isolation type numbers than it'll be a flop more so than the new movie looks to be. The fact that they were able to write Playstation out must mean Disney got all its money upfront and the lost sales aren't going to hurt how much money they make by going only Xbox/PC which means strictly Gamepass. If Gen X folks like me are over Indy I don't think the franchise is going to catch fire with the younger generations.

Maybe it will be Xbox's Uncharted, Phil has been chasing after that Sony franchise forever whereas Naughty Dog/Sony has moved along.

Re: Bethesda's Indiana Jones Game Confirmed As An Xbox Exclusive

Serpentes420

Congratulations Xbox on getting your own Disney owned IP exclusive! Too bad its for a franchise that very few people will care about by the time the game comes out. Phil sometimes seems to be chasing for equivalents to big PS exclusives he likes. For example, I see him thinking/hoping that Hellblade 2 will be Xbox's God of War and its just not gonna happen I bet. And in the same vein Indy won't be their Spider-Man.

Re: Sony Won't Share Confidential PS6 Details With Activision If Xbox Deal Is Approved

Serpentes420

I'm not thrilled with the ABK acquisition mostly because I'm not pleased with how Xbox has managed studios up to this point. However, if Sony is really scared about losing CoD they should make a partnership with Ubisoft to market XDefiant. I don't play these MP shooters, but I read that many CoD fans want an alternative to play and read good things from fans of the genre that played Ubi's game.

Re: These Seven Games Are Coming To Xbox Game Pass (June 22 - July 5)

Serpentes420

This is not a good list of game IMO. I used to complain GP was giving me nothing but Indies and old AAA 3rd party titles. I guess since I complained Xbox decided no old AA 3rd party titles anymore. Sorry everybody.

Seriously though, isn't this when games like Gotham Knights, Evil West, and the rest of the bargain bin at Walmart games should be hitting the service?

Re: Poll: How Would You Grade The Xbox Games Showcase 2023?

Serpentes420

@Tharsman That's basically 2 new games from first party that weren't known about, South of Midnight and Clockwork Revolution (though the latter was my favorite trailer of the show).

Missing that have been announced previously:
-Perfect Dark
-Anything Halo
-State of Decay 3
-Contraband
-Everwild
-Indiana Jones
Missing studios/franchises:
-Double Fine
-Id
-Gears
And I'm surprised we didn't get anything new on 3rd party Gamepass games coming later this year/early next like Flintlock.

That all said, it was a very good showcase. I gave it a B and it would be a very high B, like an 87%. I don't think they needed 40 minutes of selling Starfield. A lot of people (myself included) were sold already and its on Gamepass. They could have cut the Starfield presentation by 20 minutes and included a couple of the things I mentioned and it would have been an A.

Re: Poll: How Would You Grade The Xbox Games Showcase 2023?

Serpentes420

Great looking games were shown, but in the end this showcase suffered from the same thing Playstation's did. There were still more notable absences than new games shown.

In the end Xbox made a good case for keeping Gamepass for 2024 and Starfield looks to be reason enough for the rest of 2023. Biggest steal of the showcase is being able to unveil Star Wars Outlaws without that leaking.

Re: Xbox's Activision Blizzard Deal Officially Approved In Europe

Serpentes420

@Deshalu I said takeover because after this A/B/K will be part of MS. It just means one company is buying control of another, hostile take over is when it happens against the wishes of one of the companies' managment. Also MS wasn't the highest bidder as much as they were the only players in the videogame business with the money and the need for IPs that they are willing to pay above market price for A/B/K.

Re: Xbox's Activision Blizzard Deal Officially Approved In Europe

Serpentes420

When you don't have games to celebrate, you can celebrate acquisitions! I better get some free Overwatch2 skins and whatnot for my GP subscription because other than that A/B/K doesn't make anything else I play. The people that think this take over will all of a sudden mean A/B/K will dip back into its well of abandoned franchises are dreamers.

Re: Review: Redfall - Arkane's Undead Experiment Brings Mixed Results To Xbox Game Pass

Serpentes420

Whoever is supposed to be in charge of Xbox studios is clearly asleep at the wheel. They thought Halo Infinite was fine to release until the public saw what they were going to put out, now another game gets delayed for nearly a year only to release in a shambolic state. It was exactly a year and a half ago that I stupidly bought into the hype and gave Xbox a 2nd chance by getting a Series S and 2 years of Gamepass. I feel like I got scammed. Once my GP time I paid for is up, I'm out.
You die hards that constantly make excuses for this company and say how great GP is with Indies, old AAA games, and B tier 3rd party exclusives are a big part of the reason Xbox 1st party games continue to underwhelm. You all need to quit paying MS money for mediocrity.
