Nightdive Studios Teases 'Big Thing' Happening At QuakeCon 2025

For the last few years, the remaster experts at Nightdive Studios have been announcing new versions of DOOM and Quake at the annual QuakeCon convention, and it sounds like they're going to do that again in August 2025.

Speaking on a recent Giant Bomb podcast, one of the Nightdive team members mentioned that the company's next "big thing" would be present at QuakeCon 2025, which takes place from August 7-10.

"Our next big thing will be at QuakeCon this year in August, like the last three years."

They stopped short of revealing what the project might be, but there's a lot of speculation that it's probably either Quake 3 Arena or Quake 4 remastered. Quake 3 Arena, as you're probably aware, is focused primarily on multiplayer and only later appeared on Xbox via an "Arena Arcade" version, while Quake 4 was actually an Xbox 360 console exclusive.

The trend suggests that Quake 3 or 4 will be next in line for the remaster treatment, but who knows?! Maybe DOOM is in line instead? Maybe it's something entirely different from Quake or DOOM? We'll find it in just over a month.
