Xbox Insiders Can Now Remove Tiles On The Dashboard, And It Looks Weird

Earlier this month, Microsoft announced a bunch of new features for the Xbox dashboard, including the ability to remove some tiles from the home screen to free up space. Well, The Verge's Tom Warren has now shown this feature off via the Xbox Insider program - at looks a little weird if we may say so.

Basically, it seems that the current iteration of this feature allows folks to bump the home screen tile count down to four, from the default nine tiles. This then leaves the first four tiles from the left visible; creating some empty space to the right of the dashboard.

Here's their example of that in action:

While we're definitely down to see more of our Xbox backgrounds — especially when they look as good as this recent DOOM: The Dark Ages example — it feels like there's surely a better way to move things around here. The huge gap on the right next to the stacked tiles on the left just looks odd!

Of course, there'll also be more debate about whether we can get some of that ad space freed up at the bottom of the dashboard there - although this is something that Microsoft has seemed reluctant to change for a while now. At the moment, this feature is only available to Alpha Skip-Ahead Insiders, and it may well be iterated on before it goes fully public in the coming weeks.
