It is ugly but I think that is the point. It fits the theme of Atomfall with everything being rusty or broken down and the motivations of some of the folks you meet are ugly.
That said I wouldn't want it sitting om my desk either 😉
Nice I don't have to dig myself into a hole or log out when I get a coffee or go to the loo. This is a nice addition as is the fact that add-ons no longer disabled achievements.
All the rest of the Spring to Life update is just ok and I guess better to have than not but it's not going to blow anyone's socks off.
I am playing Atomfall right now and for me it was worth the price of admission for early access for that game (probably wont for South of Midnight though.)
Early access is just an option that folks can use or not as they see fit.
Enjoying Atomfall quite a lot so far. I think the folks who are expecting Fallout: England are going to be disappointed though.
My biggest frustration is the limited inventory space but that is something that annoys me in any game. Other than that I am enjoying trying to unravel the mystery this game presents you with.
@darylb24 it's crashed twice for me both times during zone transitions in about 12 hours of play time. Luckily the game autosaves frequently so no progress was lost.
I hope there is an option to disable it as I am not a fan of unasked for clutter.
If I want to find achievements or whatever I will go look for them specifically there is no need to shove it down my throat every time I select a game.
@Fiendish-Beaver I was saying exactly that at launch but as you say sheep will sheep (and the idiots leading them gladly pocketed the youtube ad revenue they generated.)
@Arkz The reason it took so long is they had to find a balance and make it work for all supported bedrock platforms**. When you make stuff for pc without considering Android or IOS then you can of course do more (rtx shaders etc) but Mojang can't or won't do that.
As i mentioned in my initial comment this is just the default baseline version. I expect folks will take this and ramp it up for each individual platform via addons / mods (paid & free.)
** Just for clarity at the moment I have my doubts about this coming to switch even though its a current supported bedrock platform. Its never been part of the deferred technical preview afaik but that might be a Nintendo policy thing, maybe? I don't know enough about the platform or Nintendo to say for certain.
@Arkz cool but those are not available on all devices that can play Minecraft Bedrock.
The testing that has been done via the deferred technical preview has shown this works on Xbox series consoles , PS5, Android & IOS as well as PC. The only device I haven't seen it on is the Switch.
I am excited for this to be finally released on the live game.
More so since I have seen this evolve from it's simple beginnings to something quite special over a couple of years on the Minecraft Preview programme.
The thing I am bearing in mind is that what Mojang are providing is just the default basics with this update. Once this is released to content creators to build upon we will see the real step forward & visual enhancement I have wanted to see as a console Minecraft player.
@Jenkinss Survival lite. You craft weapons & equipment from resources you find out in the world. No buildings or farms etc. You use food to provide buff & heal rather than for a hunger meter
Like most things in Atomfall this can be made easier or harder depending on your preference.
Been on a bit of a Warhammer 40K push this past week or two.
So will continue with WH40K: Rogue Trader & WH40K: Inquisitor - Martyr over the weekend. (Also I did get Space Marines 2 in a sale and completed the campaign. Best I can say is I am glad I didn't pay full price for it.)
Can't wait to get stuck into Atomfall next week. Will probably sub to ubi+ to give AC: Shadows a go once I am done with Atomfall. Too many games I want to play but that is a good problem to have.
To me as a gamer all i want to know is does the game look fun & worth my time.
From what I have seen of Shadows it very much looks to be everything I want from this type of game. So much so that after I am done with Atomfall I will likely sub to Ubi+ so i can play it.
How many others are playing or the relative success (or not) is totally irrelevant to me or the fun I think I will have with this game. I find it rather sad that folks argue um "discuss" this sort of stuff more than what the games themselves offer as an experience.
Atomfall has 5 predefined difficulty levels but you can create a custom difficulty by tuning individual settings related to survival, combat & exploration. So if survival in general or just a certain part of the survival game play isnt for you then chances are you can tweak it so it isn't an issue any more.
Been playing Warhammer 40K: Inquisitor - Martyr over the past week. Its been a good companion game to play along side WH40K: Rogue Trader for those times I wanted a more hands on action gaming session.
It does have a few issue & has crashed to desktop a couple of times but even so i have enjoyed revisiting this arpg.
@oopsiezz I have done two full play throughs and only had one game stopping experience that I was eventually able to work around before it was patched a few days later.
The most important thing to me was I had fun both times enough that I want to do it again.
So yes the patches are huge but that doesn't necessarily equate to folks having a bad experience before said patches.
I want to do a third play through of Stalker 2 but its just finding the time to do it with so many games to play right now or on the immediate horizon.
I guess the best way to look at this is the longer it takes me to fit it in the more patches are released and I will be better placed to see the improvements over my previous runs.
They don't have a years worth of games I want to play though.
I may sub up for a month to play Shadows or maybe a sale purchase at some point. Either way it will be much cheaper than the options presented in this article.
There is a lot of hidden stuff in Atomfall so if you are someone like me who looks in every dark corner for stuff & does the optional quests I believe you could double that play time at least (going from what has been said by other Rebellion devs in their many pre-launch video overviews.)
I am going to say Tom Clancy series too but for different reasons than others I expect. I want The Division 3 actually be released and not end up on the killed before completed pile like other Division projects.
Hall effect sensors & wireless is all I ever want or need from a controller. Sadly most "Pro" controllers come with a bunch of other crap & cost stupid prices.
I just got Space Marine 2 this week in the sale. Finished the campaign & I am glad I didn't pay full price. The campaign is ok I guess though the story is predictable & cliche. This then leaves you with operations or pvp.
Operations are essentially just 8 missions which you are supposed to grind on various classes just so you can keep grinding the same content on harder difficulties (which is basically more bullet sponge.) Can't speak for pvp didn't try it.
Game already uninstalled and as I said glad I didn't pay full price. After that If I even look at Space Marine 3 I will for certain wait for a sale with a deeper discount.
Of course it's possible anything is pretty much on the table from our side of the fence. At this stage though you might as well say it will come with a built in air fryer.
It's all speculation and while convincing arguments can be made (for steam not the air fryer), its probably best to temper expectations & just wait till official announcements whenever that maybe.
Enjoy what's in front of you now the future will take care of its self.
The only thing I want from an Xbox handheld is for it not to interfere with mainstream game releases on my Series X (or whatever the equivalent is when it launches.)
Other than that I don't care as I will never buy one as I have no need for such a device.
Its all depends on the games for me not the box I play them on. Even if it was a shoebox stuffed full of wires as long as it has the content it would have my interest.
Been casually playing Balatro and cleared four decks so far.
Its an ok game to kill 30 minutes or so but I can't see myself spending hours playing it obsessively. I am not into poker or card games in general enough to want to do that.
Game pass itself to me is good value generally but will have hit & miss months with its content. Often I have several miss months in a row which can be a little frustrating at the time but its usually more good than bad when I look at it as a whole.
With the first one making its way over here I expect it will be on Xbox at some point, probably not soon but eventually. Not that I have any interest personally but there is hope for folks who are.
I was going to start a fresh run at Baldurs Gate 3 but patch 8 with new sub classes is seemingly right around the corner so putting that on hold for now.
Instead I am finally going to finish the first dlc for WH40k: Rogue Trader. Had it for a while but I always seem to get distracted by other stuff.
The base game is on gamepass & if you have even a passing interest in crpg's or Warhammer 40K I cant recommend it enough. Its not as flashy or polished as BG3 but its packed full of style, lore and fun game play.

KISS rule, Play games and have fun.
With regards to Shadows, not a day one purchase for me but pretty sure I will pick this up in a sale at some point in the future.

I do get really fatigued by the endless parade of folks wishing particular games to fail or stating a game had failed because eleven billion people didn't buy it.

Me when I don't enjoy something I will at most state why on a relevent article on pure xbox or push square then move on to something I enjoy.
Life is to short to waste on nonsense like constantly hating on something as unimportant as a game.

Re: Xbox Could Be Preparing To Add Two Big EA Releases To Game Pass
When it comes to Gamepass via EA Play I would just say give it a chance and just try it.
I ignored the hate campaign and took a chance on it at launch. I ended up playing it to completion on all the classes as I enjoyed it so much.
Just give it a try & you might be surprised to find you are having fun.

@Arkz most versions of bedrock edition (probably not switch.) The platforms you mention are legacy I believe & not supported anymore afaik.
More folks will have this as an option than won't. That is a win for current gen console & mobile Minecraft players

Re: Roundup: Here's What The Final Previews Say About Xbox Game Pass Title Atomfall
I am super excited for this one & its my own personal most anticipated release of 2025.
While I understand the comparisons to Fallout (& even Stalker) I hope folks judge Atomfall on its own merits not on some feature or design point that the afore-mentioned games had but isn't present in Atomfall.
From what Rebellion have said themselves in their own videos I get the impression anyone expecting this to be Fallout: Up North will ultimately be disappointed.
