The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Is Now Available On Xbox Game Pass

Never played it before, even though I still own the game still sealed on a 360 disc (with all the DLC). Having watched the presentation, I cannot wait to dive in. It looks incredible. All I have to do* is prepare myself to losing another 1000 hours of my life with a single playthrough (as I did with Skyrim)...

*Oh, and finish Metaphor: ReFantazio, Days Gone Remastered, South of Midnight and Expedition 33. Not much then... 🤪

Said this in the other thread but we need a new word for games like this. This to me is not a remaster, nor is it a remake. We need a new terminology for games that go above and beyond what a remaster is, but not quite as high as a remake goes. This is neither remake or remaster imo. It's somewhere between and we really should have something to distinguish it.

That aside, I can't wait to jump in. This looks bloody phenomenal.

Downloading it now. I just replayed it for probably the 5th time like a year and a half ago. The presentation didn't blow me away with the upgrades but it will probably end up being another full playthrough.

It is neck and neck with Skyrim for my favorite game of all time so I figure I better run through it again.

Going by the footage in the live reveal, it still looks more like a remake than remaster to me. Either way, will download it overnight and look forward to playing it tomorrow. Gamepass is absolutely killing it right now!

For someone who hasn't played this, it seems like avowed took a lot of cues from oblivion. Having just finished avowed a few weeks back, are these 2 games very similar? I just don't want to jump right back into a similar game so close to eachother. If so, I'll wait til summer.

People who have played Starfield, does Oblivion Remastered look like it has better graphics?

I ask because if UE5 does look better then it might be used in the same way for the Elder Scrolls VI to run on top of the Creation Engine.

Game Pass is just on fire, already downloading the 123 GB of it but really wondering if I’ll be able to finish it before Doom comes out.

As soon as Tom Mustaine looked at his watch I knew it was a shadow drop. Downloading now and can’t wait to lose myself exploring the world later tonight.

@ChopperCampbell I had to use the app to download it because on console it was trying to make me pay for it.

I got over 70 hours into the original before is was burgled and had my 360 stolen. Lost a lot of time on this and Burnout Paradise. Never could get back into either after that. Maybe need to try again.

I have it downloading now can't wait to jump on it looks so good I'm going to be addicted to this game only 32 minutes to go!!

This is a sentimental occasion. I was (ahem) oblivious to Xbox 360 at the time. I saw someone playing this on a CRT TV. The green fields, the talking heads, the combat, the music... it was at this moment I know I had to get me one just for this game!

I'm cautiously optimistic since I didn't like Skyrim. Hoping it's as faithful as possible.

Excellent, it would be great if they released the source code for Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire, it is slightly playable but it could do with some serious treatment like arena & daggerfall unity.

I tried getting through it all recently to than get onto red guard, morrwind and the oblivion remaster but it sure is rough these days on modern systems.

@Titntin ok this is good feedback. I may try to play expedition 33 first and then circle back to oblivion after.

@VenomUK We won’t know until we’re in-game and Digital Foundry will most likely do a comparison video for the game soon but I’d bet that this will have better graphics since it’s using Unreal Engine 5 over Creation Engine 2 which is used in Starfield, Fallout 4 etc.

@FredBiletnikoff Whenever that happens you just need to click on the game card above the price, it then takes you to another page where it shows the option to download from game pass.

Xbox page shows its a Play Anywhere title too! Wish i didnt blow all my Microsoft points on the Spring Sale now, haha!

It's cool the story dlc is included in the standard edition. Kind of ironic you still have to pay extra if you want the horse armour

I still can't believe it. That not only is it real but so is a shadow drop. Never been so pleased to be wrong. My friend doesn't want to play it on GamePass even though it's not costing any extra, he says he's played it so many times before, and I just bought it outright. To each his own.

Perfect timing for a new game drop!! I just finished South of Midnight yesterday, quite frankly I didn't want to finish that game, but felt I got far enough into it that I needed to finish it, the repetitive combat throughout the game really got annoying & also the game was too linear/little exploration.

Funny enough, @Ricky-Spanish, I have a feeling that I might have two or three of them! All sealed! Back when the 360 first came out, I used to buy 3 copies of each game that I bought, and then give them to my two boys on their birthdays or Christmas. Thing is, I used to buy so many games, that I literally had too many to give them at a time, and there were always other games that I thought they might enjoy more, thus I ended up with a heap of games that I never game them, and that I never sold or gave away. I have around 300 360 games myself, many of them still sealed, and then I probably have another 200 sealed duplicates! Sometimes, being a huge collector of games can come in useful. I dare say I have a few sealed 360 games that are worth a few pounds each. When I'm gone, my 3 kids will have the joys of selling them off, hopefully for a pretty penny.

And that's not all, either; I have a huge collection of sealed Collector's Editions, probably totalling over 100, ranging from 360 games, up to my most recent purchases of the likes of Indiana Jones, Assassin's Creed: Shadows, and soon Doom: The Dark Ages. I also have my Baldur's Gate 3 Collector's Edition, which alone still fetches around £800.

So long as my children take their time to sell everything at a good value, they will likely fetch well over £10,000 to share between them... 😊

@themightyant You're spot on with what you've said (and I like your term haha). We are kinda lost in the dark for terminology across the board - I mean indie for instance - wouldn't we class Witcher 3 as indie? Even though it could also be classed as AAA?

@Kilamanjaro See, I always thought reboots were complete overhauls head to toe and a fresh start from scratch - for instance, if ES7 was simply called ES, and rebooted the whole franchise.

So, I spent around 100 hours on Avowed. I still haven't started South of Midnight, then there's Oblivion Remastered, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Doom The Dark Ages. All of them are Game Pass must-play titles, so I'm not rushing any of them. Another Call of Duty has been added, whose campaign I will play for sure. 2025 will be fondly remembered by Xbox gamers.

Erghhh... seriously just to many games it's getting annoying ...wanted to play Avowed, Atomfall and maybe even South of midnight ...I only just started on assassin's creed Shadows after finally finishing Kingdom come 2 the other week

Definitely the sealed games would go for a pretty penny I seen some unsealed ds games in cex for over 100 quid so a few years down the line especially if physical games end your sitting on a lot of money 👍👏✌️

What a day! I love old titles with a visual overhaul. It's a great way to revisit these timeless classics. Never played Oblivion before, so I'm double excited.

It's absolutely mental really. Gamepass has been stacked for months now, there's a huge JRPG in a couple of days, Doom next month, a backlog of things to get through, and then they just plonk an RPG of this size and scope just like that.

And apparently Xbox and Gamepass are on their last legs. Hasn't stopped me just buying a Series S to partner my X in the other room so I can play more when the main TV is in use! Gaming has rarely felt fuller.

Incredible that Gamepass has any detractors. It's an amazing deal; the kind of value proposition that is getting rarer and rarer in this messed up modern world.

@Scrubchub Right! It's impossible to find better value unless you only want to play a couple of games per year. If you are really into gaming, Game Pass is a dream that came true.

A 'shadow drop' is something unexpected, like Hi-Fi Rush which literally came out of nowhere.

Oblivion is not a shadow drop. Use the term properly!

A game I've seen and heard lots about, but never played... I tend to get bored quickly with large open world games, but I feel compelled to see what all the hype is about with this one.

I've downloaded it to my Series X just waiting to finish the last mission on Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League and then I'm gunna start it. I've never played Oblivion before I'm so excited.
