Re: It's Official, Xbox's Avowed Has Been Delayed Until 2025

OrfeasDourvas

Xbox has been the biggest disappointment of the year.
It's not that I really mind Avowed being delayed, I don't even know if I'm all that interested in it.
But there hasn't been a single positive item regarding Xbox this year.
And when games get delayed without any other announcements to make up for it but prices still go up, it just not worth it to me as much anymore.

@Phantasystar77 When you take away the hardware, let's look at what's left.

You have Gamepass and there's absolutely no chance in hell Playstation allows that on their console.

There's the Xbox store which now won't have any hardware tied to.
So essentially, Xbox loses all revenue from other third party games as well as MTX that aren't their own games.

They only have their own games as a publisher which is great for them but it's a massive spit to the face of everyone who has bought an Xbox and much more importantly games on Xbox.
If by some miracle they could migrate these purchases to the Playstation store, I'd be fine with it and just bite the bullet and get a PS5.
But that's not happening because Playstation has all the leverage in this move.

@Sol4ris You are so wrong and it amazes me that people can be so wrong.
No amount ever will be enough for corporate greed.
Microsoft is a TRILLION dollar company and I think they just had their best earnings call ever, while letting go thousands of people.

This isn't a move to bring in more money for more games.
It's more money for shareholders' pockets.
Immediate short term gain that brings about long term destruction of an entire brand.

I really regret investing into the Xbox ecosystem.
Should have went with the Playstation about a decade ago.
And it's people like you that are part of the problem.
No, more people playing more games is not good.
Because that's not what it is at all, let's call it what it really is.
It's more people not on Xbox playing Xbox games.
And people on Xbox gaining nothing in return.
When this move inevitably kills the hardware department, what happens to our purchases?
I've had enough of Xbox and their fanbase being 'the better man' and so generous.
Yeah, generous with everyone but your own fanbase, good one.
As much as I dislike Sony's arrogance, at least they have a backbone.

Re: Ubisoft Wants Players To 'Feel Comfortable Not Owning Games' In Future

OrfeasDourvas

I love digital but I still feel like I own my games, even if it's not physical media anymore.
When you put your trust into an ecosystem
(the Xbox ecosystem in my and most of us here's case) you know that as long as it's there, you have access and more importantly control over your games.
That's why people outrage when it's rumoured that Xbox is going multiplat as a publisher
(as they should), because it punches a big hole in the trust of something intangible.
But to the CEO of Ubisoft, I actually think he's got it wrong.
Gaming will never be like the transition in movie and film because something like Netflix is different to gaming.
When you consume Netflix, it's more of a
"Ok what do I watch tonight?" as in you don't have ultimate control over what you are going to choose.
Gaming has always been the media that gives you control so when you sit down to play it's not "what do I play tonight", it's "I want to play this game specifically"
No one will ever take that level of control from gaming because it's already ingrained in it as a form of media.

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 Dev Reveals Concerns With Xbox Game Pass-Style Subscriptions

If Larian and whoever else continues to make masterpieces like Baldur's Gate 3, they really have nothing to worry about.
It's nice when he have more options.
You know with some companies that's it's more quantity over quality, like with Ubisoft, and I say that while being a big Assassin's Creed guy and always buying the newest big entry full price.
With some, like Sega, it's quantity and quality at the same time.
Larian can keep doing their thing and we'll keep appreciating and supporting them.
