xbox developer direct

When the Xbox showcase rumours began showing up late last year, we heard suggestions that the January event would be a smaller scale affair than a typical Xbox live show. Well, Xbox exec Aaron Greenberg has confirmed the overall runtime following yesterday's official Developer_Direct announcement, and it is on the shorter side for Xbox.

Greenberg says that the event is currently tracking at 43 minutes long, barring any potential changes between now and the date of the livestream.

"Since many folks have asked our show is tracking 43 mins long. As outlined in this announcement our goal has been to be as transparent as possible on what dev teams/games to expect to see in the show."

Despite this being a shorter show than something like an Xbox summer showcase, that runtime sounds healthy to us. Considering that Xbox is clearly focusing on Redfall, Forza Motorsport, Minecraft Legends and The Elder Scrolls Online, 43 mins seems like a good length.

Xbox has also confirmed a separate Starfield showcase arriving sometime after the January showcase, although we don't know any further details on that event right now. As soon as we hear more about the Starfield show, we'll bring you the news!

Does this sound like a solid runtime to you? Let us know in the comments down below.
