I bounced off Alan wake - but control devoured me. I loved it. Remedy - go weirder and darker. If it’s as good as the original it’ll be a fantastic game for some people (me)

I don’t think those numbers are that impressive to be honest - but I’ve not seen the footage to see what it’s like in motion.

I know when I brought this up in other threads about the game I mentioned death stranding which has a launch price of £18. When death stranding has gone on sale since then (after going to full price) - the discount price has been £18 ok pretty sure. I’m seeing this £28 or so as what the sale price will be for future sales.

I like this - I think it’ll do okay for valve and is likely a really good intro to some folks building a steam library and then might move on to more advanced hardware in the future.
Personally I’m quite sure that pc gaming is for me. Microsoft’s handling of some things has really left a bad taste in my mouth and I think realistically the cost of a console over a lifespan of a console will be similar in cost to a pc (but just not paying for online and having better sales of games and more customisation).

I don’t trust Microsoft to price their next console well and then subscription costs on top are off putting.

I’m keen for this but pricing really is key. The metal gear solid 3 remake was so expensive - it really put me off it/I’ll wait for a steep sale if I get it at all.

When death stranding launched it launched with a great price - I’d love that to be the norm behaviour wise from publishers for a game that comes to a platform after releasing on others first.

Over the years - I have hugely missed the feeling of hitting those rock band/guitar hero drums. These are very much of a time for me but if the price is decent on these - I would be incredible tempted. It’s a shame a bunch of stuff just got delisted for some of those games

Sony and Microsoft - if you read this - I would buy and play that game on Xbox. You won’t sell as many as you will on PlayStation but selling on Xbox would be additional revenue you wouldn’t get otherwise. I would buy this game (and others) on Xbox.

1000X resist got such glowing praise from the Noclip folks on their end of year podcasts - Im definitely keen to play that at some point

@Fiendish-Beaver can confirm they all do. Shadowkeeps is pretty….of its time and a bit naff but witch queen (in particular) and light fall are decent/good. Generally they are pretty short campaigns. I’d say 7-10 missions. Legend mode can be a good challenge too

Absolutely must mention the documentary series that was released after Psychonauts 2 - it’s up there with the Hades series (from noclip which the doublefine one isn’t by noclip) as being one of the best documentaries about the making of a game.

Wheel world has been on my radar for years - I’m excited to play it and hope it finds a strong following

This looks like a great “end of day and only want my thumbs busy, not my brain” game! It used to be Skate 3 for me but skate does feel quite dated now. Adding this to my wish list ! Thanks for highlighting it

I like that’s it’s an option for people who want to - choice is good and if this was a game I was super excited to play then I can see why people would do this.
Personally I would probably absolutely never do this, myself - there’s just not a game franchise that I can think I’d want to do this for - for me.
I think that the poor day -2 (minus 2) to day 1 experience will be negative in a technical way for those super excited players.

I thought Indiana Jones did this and I wasn’t aware of any huge big bugs or issues though so maybe it can work.

@Tasuki most of the games you’ve listed are recent releases - why should they be discounted?

Why should someone be fired because some games you want aren’t on sale…

There is such a huge (in my mind, completely unwarranted) amount of negativity from people about this game. People are comparing it to concord which was a by new studio - bungie have been making great feeling games for actual decades (including some of the most highly regarded games of all time). People seem to be actively willing this to fail because they don’t like the genre - so don’t play it 🤷 I hope it does well and it grows from what was shown.

It’s had such glowing reviews from journalists/podcasts where I have a lot of overlap in interest. Hearing it mentioned alongside games like outer wilds lets me know it’s not for everyone - and that’s okay! As outer wilds is one of my absolute favourite games - im intrigued to see how it compares in terms of puzzles and emotional impact. I’m a few days in so far and looking forward to playing more.

@Ricky-Spanish this is such a good answer! I think Fable would make a pretty good British tv series (like a bbc style 6 episode comedy)

If this has the same type of game subscription cost that we know the uk initially had for the series consoles (gamepass and the console for a monthly cost) - I could be really interested in this.

I think Valve are laughing with the steam deck - they’ve sold steam users the handheld and now they are very likely selling more software and dlc (etc) to those same people . Hard ware and then the real money maker being software. I would assume Microsoft want the same

How the Xbox one x handled Series games in game pass via streaming - makes me really hesitant to getting a new Xbox any time soon as I don’t think it’ll be needed for me.

Citizen sleeper was such an incredible little game. Perfect for winding down at the end of the day, in a story driven, super heartfelt and impactful way. Folks should play the original before the second comes out

Outer wilds echoes of the eye is the one for me.

Played on pc last night and it’s glorious, as is the first one. Feels like they’ve added so much and made it its own game with new systems and mechanics. Super pumped for more.

There’s a great noclip documentary about this game/its designer.

I’m hoping Solar Ash gets released soon, I’ve don’t think there’s been any news since it was announced to be coming out on Xbox a while ago

My thoughts are (and as someone who doesn’t have the game or box) would this not legally be detailed on the retail box?

Silksong fans are so toxic, they really do the Hollow Knight community a huge disservice.
Every Game release event (Nintendo direct or now other platforms since confirmed for multi platform) since the game was announced has just been what’s seemed like children spamming silksong and clown masks. It comes across as so petty, that something might simply be not worth paying attention to as it’s not hollow knight.

It’s really , really frustrating, it’s just an echo chamber of chumps and so incredibly selfish and disrespectful to any other games. I’m as excited as I can be for Silksong , but the vocal people online are just an absolute embarrassment to the industry now.

Minor edit, someone like Mossbag isn’t in the same category as people spamming chat as they make lore YouTube content around hollow knight and Silksong.

I am going to be that person (and am aware it's not on Xbox/probably faded to obscurity now) but airblade was great back in 2001

My wish list item would be The Last Night, the game director posted recently on Twitter about showing someone the game and how blown away they were by the lighting. I think that game is close to release and I’m excited to see more about it.
As silly as it sounds to buy a console based on a promise/game, it was part of the reason why I bought an Xbox sad that reveal trailer is still incredible.

Inside is such an awesome little game. It’s only about the length of a film and is such an interesting little world.
After this game the devs split into two studios so I’m excited to see what comes after this in more detail from them both.

Does this not work on Series consoles?

I feel that those who are invested in the expanse (one of the best sci-fi series of the last decade) - will be all on this. I'm definitely, definitely getting this, more Cara Gee/Drummer and the telltale games design, absolutely a great match.

You need to stop saying /it needs to stop being considered that metal gear hd is on sale - it’s been removed from sale due to licensing issues , not sure if that permanent or not

I know it came out probably too close to these award’s, but echoes of the eye should have been the best expansion

I’m hoping this has better quality control than the PDP talon, the back plate/battery cover is so fragile and constantly falls off and is flaking

I’d be fine if they had a new story or protagonist - after 3 games Issac is kind of a John Rambo type in space killing necromorphs. Part of the appeal of him as a character was that he was kind of an Everyman.

@Porridge2215 im not sure about the 120hz, I know that Philips have been pretty slow to announce anything with that refresh rate.

Last year (about 3 days before lockdown in March) I got a 50inch 4K hdr tv and a philips sound bar and subwoofer for £400.

I saw it on hot uk deals and was too good to pass up. I also had a £50 Amazon voucher from my work so for 350 it was a steal.
I only have a one x so for me personally there’s no 120hz, and for price I’m happy

I have a 4K Philips ambilight tv and with the hue lights on it - it’s astounding. Ambilight is amazing and really immersive. Games like Ori or no mans sky are great examples of it.
