Everyone, act surprised! Xbox has announced today that Call of Duty is the #1 franchise on Xbox Game Pass for total players and hours in 2025, in addition to being #1 in November (for the Black Ops 7 launch).
It obviously makes sense that one of the world's biggest gaming IPs would command so much attention on Xbox's service, especially considering there are multiple titles under the COD banner across various Game Pass tiers.

Still, this news comes just one day after Xbox and Activision issued a statement on the future of Call of Duty, admitting that the Franchise has "not met" some players' "expectations fully". They're clearly dedicated to providing top-tier COD installments, promising to offer "an absolutely unique experience each and every year" and "drive innovation that is meaningful, not incremental".
The fact remains that Call of Duty will sell (and prove popular on Game Pass) based on name alone, but it sounds like Xbox and Activision are eager to strive for even greater things in the future, and that sounds like excellent news to us.
