Battlefield 6 Players Think They've Spotted Evidence Of AI-Generated Cosmetics

We're guaranteed to see more and more examples of AI-generated content in games over the coming years, and Battlefield 6 players think they've spotted an example in the form of a "Player Card Sticker" as part of its cosmetics.

A couple of days ago, someone took to the Battlefield subreddit to angrily point out how the M4A1 had two barrels on a "Winter Warning" sticker inside the game, stating that they would "literally prefer to have no sticker than some low quality AI generated garbage".

That specific post contains profanities, so here's a more appropriate version from the Xbox subreddit:

Many of the top-rated comments are negative as well:

Now, it should be noted that the use of AI can't be proven in this case, and EA hasn't responded to the backlash as things stand. We can definitely see why people think it's AI, but we won't jump to definitive conclusions just yet.

Some have pointed out that Call of Duty has done this kind of thing as well, with a report from last year claiming that it happened even back during the Modern Warfare 3 days in 2023.

Regardless of how anyone feels about the use of generative AI in games, there's no doubt that it's a controversial tactic (at least in situations like this), and we expect similar stories will continue to crop up in 2026 and beyond.
