I just installed Oblivion Remastered last night on Series X via Game Pass. 19 years later, I still got some of the feelings that I had when playing it for the first time.
I’m currently on Ultimate with about 9 months left as part of the Xbox All Access program. Seemed like a good deal as Starfield was set to launch.
Anyway, once that 24 months of Game Pass Ultimate lapses, I would probably go after the cheapest option available. On PlayStation, the Essentials option is more than enough.
I don’t know if it’s related, but I have been saying for awhile now that my PS5 and PS5 Pro (yes I have both) do not play back 4K Ultra HD Blu Ray as well as my Xbox Series X. Currently the Pro and my Series X are connected to a LG 4K OLED 120hz TV, both using the high speed HDMI inputs, and both using factory HDMI cables. The Xbox video and audio seems better when playing back the same discs.
Also, Xbox seems to have the same silly naming problems that Nintendo is famous for. They pick confusing names that mom and dad consumer don’t recognize. Series S or X? Xbox One? I know it’s boring how Sony does it, but even Grandma knows that PlayStation 5 is better than PlayStation 4 (theoretically) and is the new one to get. XBOX should just stick with a easy numbers system.
I was born in summer of ‘79, so Indiana Jones was my favorite movie series as a kid. The series ended with Harrison Ford and Sean Connery riding off into the sunset. Not sure what these later entries were about.
As for this game, even though I own a Series X with 10 more months of Game Pass Ultimate, I don’t have the slightest inkling to even download it. From what I have seen of the game, the Indy model and voice acting looks like the best part.
Well, dang. I bought my Series X in anticipation of Starfield a little over a year ago, and upgraded my Game Pass version the game to get the early access. It has been the most disappointing console experience ever, and this comes from a guy who owns a working WiiU. Xenoblade Chronicles X is amazing, btw.
Now that we know Shattered Space is also mid, I can confidently pack up my barely touched Xbox Series X into its pristine box, and put it on eBay. That will go towards the lofty charge on my credit card for the PS5 Pro pre-order.
As an owner of a Xbox Series X, and a One X a few years ago, I am one of those people who never buys games for the platform. Game Pass games are the only ones in the library. PlayStation is where all of my purchases and most of my play time goes, along with Switch whenever a new Xenoblade or Zelda game comes out.
I have about a year left of my 24 months of Ultimate. While the selection has been pretty solid, I don’t play shooters, so the price hike is definitely unjustified for me. My primary drive to get the Series X in the first place was to play Starfield on day 1, which I barely touch. Once my subscription ends, the Xbox will probably hit eBay or I’ll give it to my boy.
I just turned 45, so I have been enjoying video games for 40 years, starting with the Atari 2600 at my Grandparents’ house. Video games have always been my favorite hobby and entertainment, so I played a lot as a grew up. As I first became an adult, my gaming declined as my family started, but now that my 2 kids are both nearly grown, and I am once more a single guy, I suddenly have way more time to play again. I have a full time job, so I don’t have all day to game, but most of my free time heads in that direction.
I bought a series X for Starfield. The purchase included 2 years of Game Pass Ultimate. I got pulled away from Xbox for several months to play PS5 games, and the latest Starfield patch came at the perfect time to start over. Really enjoying how the game has been updated since launch.
I started Starfield at launch on Series X and made it to level 25. Then I took a break to focus on other games like Final Fantasy 16 and then Rebirth with a sprinkling of other titles. Yesterday I updated Starfield and decided to see what it looks like on my new LG OLED set to 120htz. Very good so far, but I feel like I should start over since I forgot so much already.
This is good news for my XBOX fam. I started FFXIV at the launch of ARR on PC in September of 2013. Maybe that was the beta? Anyway, from there I played it on PS4 Pro, and now on my PS5. All this to say that FFXIV plays great on console. It works with mouse and keyboard as well as controller. I personally use one of the MMO mouse (mice?) with 12 button side pad. Also, all players can play together whether on PC, PlayStation, or Xbox.
I’m an owner of a PS5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and a WiiU that still works. Exclusive, or first-party games are a reason that I keep my consoles around. Xenoblade Chronicles X on WiiU is mind-blowing for the hardware it’s running on! PS5 is my go-to gaming platform because it has a better selection of the kinds of games that I enjoy. My Xbox is for Starfield, Forza, and Flight Simulator, which makes it the least impressive of first party games to me. I don’t dislike Xbox, but it doesn’t really have as much draw when I can get most of the same games on my PS5.
I played Starfield at launch on Series X, and then put it down to play through Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 and Phantom Liberty. Then I got distracted by Final Fantasy 16 again. But now I’m back to Starfield. I like the game, and I can see the frustration of a game that didn’t meet the expectations of many players.
This game would greatly benefit from its own “2.0” overhaul if it would open up the environments and remove many loading screens. As it currently stands, this isn’t possible due to the design structure. Even so, I still enjoy the game for what it is, rather than disliking it for what I would have preferred.
I’m not a CoD player, but I did buy a Series X for Starfield. It’s cool that CoD players on PlayStation and Nintendo can keep playing on the console of their choice.
I’m not much of a multiplayer gamer. I bought GT7 at launch and enjoy single player, but never played a single online multiplayer race. Probably the same for Forza.
I’m an owner of both games, currently on my 3rd play through of Cyberpunk to experience the 2.0 update and Phantom Liberty. Loving Cyberpunk all over again!
My starfield experience is paused at something like 25-30 hours at the moment. I will definitely get back to it, but I decided to play other games while additional patches come out and smooth the Starfield game out.
I managed to get my Platinum trophy in Final Fantasy 16, and might try for it in Cyberpunk as well before heading back to the stars.
I’m loving Starfield so far. It’s a game that I don’t intend to rush. I have put the Xbox controller down during the past week to finish my pursuit of the Platinum trophy in Final Fantasy 16 - just 2 to go! After that, I will be balancing Starfield and Cyberpunk 2077. Probably a full play though with 2.0 and Phantom Liberty.
By the time I am ready to strictly focus on Starfield, we should have several updates.
I was able to play a couple hours before bed, and so far I’m loving it on my series X.
Some people got caught up in the hype and imagined something other than what Starfield is. I noticed that a lot of people wanted No Man’s Skyrim with seamless ground to space action. It’s not that, but what we do have seems pretty great so far.
It took me about 20 minutes of trying before the game would allow me to play.
My guess is that the server had to authenticate all of the early access codes that were flooding in all at once.
I’m enjoying this game a lot. Most of the review complaints that I have noticed centered around loading screens, and other immersion-breaking things. Those are fair points, but nothing that bothers me. The gameplay has been great, and the little bit of quests that I did before going to bed were interesting. Can’t wait to play more after work today!

Re: Xbox Is Raising The Price Of Consoles, Games And Accessories
Whew, I almost sold my barely-used Xbox Series X for $400! I finished one game on it and then it sat on the desk ever since.
That price is going up when it hits eBay!

Re: Reaction: Seriously, Microsoft Doesn't Care About Using Call Of Duty To Sell Xboxes
@Banjo- yes, I agree. It will probably never happen, but I would love Xenoblade Chronicles on my PS5 or Series X. Same for Zelda.
Booting up my Switch feels so slow and the graphics just don’t feel like 2023 by comparison to my other consoles.

This game has been so good on Xbox Series X, and I will be playing it for a very long time to come.
