Two Highly-Anticipated Co-Op Survival Games Arrive On Xbox Series X|S Today (August 25)

Just before we get into the madness of Gamescom Opening Night Live and all the countless announcements that will be made as part of it, we wanted to draw your attention towards two highly-anticipated co-op Xbox games!

The first of these is Once Human, which is a free-to-play survival title that's proved extremely popular on Steam since its launch on PC in 2024, and is now finally making its Xbox debut. You'll find the game available to download on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S from 11am PT / 2pm ET / 7pm BST, and it'll likely prove a big hit!

The second game is Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, which has literally just launched for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S at a price of £44.99 / $49.99. We're still waiting on reviews to go live at the time of writing, but we'll update you when the Metacritic average populates later today (for what it's worth, the original game got a 69 on Metacritic).

But yes, you can go and play that one right now if you want to - it's out and available to purchase.

We'll leave you with more details on both of these games below, and let us know in the comments section if you're planning to try them on Xbox! Just don't forget that both of these will only work on Series X and S, and not Xbox One.

Once Human

Once Human is a Strange Worlds Survival Game set in a strange, post-apocalyptic future. Unite with friends to fight monstrous enemies, uncover secret plots, compete for resources, and build your own territory. Once, you were merely human. Now, you have the power to remake the world.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 drops up to four players into the boots of Colonial Marines deployed to the most hostile corners of the Aliens universe. This is not a rescue mission – it’s a fight for survival. Xenomorphs stalk the corridors, ambush from the shadows, and swarm in overwhelming numbers. Every room could be your last. Coordinate with your fireteam, leverage each class’s unique abilities, and adapt on the fly as encounters escalate from tense standoffs to all-out war. With deeper squad mechanics, smarter enemies, and a fully customizable Specialist class, AFE2 delivers the definitive co-op Aliens experience.
