Final Fantasy 14 Prepares For Xbox Release As Game Surpasses 30 Million Players

The trial I believe is the entire base game and perhaps Heavensward (first expansion) now. It has changed a few times.

I have this on Steam and PS5 but will be all in on Xbox and perhaps will finally push through Heavensward and continue to the other expansions. They are just so long!

You’re in for a treat, Xbox players. It lacks all the F2P trappings games like PSO2 use. There is an online store so you can level skip to miss the first part of the story or buy some cosmetics but it’s on a web page and not accessible in-game.

The base game includes the Heavensward expansion. The rest are extra and include a few classes.

I really wish Microsoft would use Azure to back it up so you can stream it on any platform.

@Kaloudz The free trial is being expanded to also include the second expansion, Stormblood. I'm not sure when that is happening but the base game and Heavenward is a pretty sizeable amount of content. They did streamline the base ARR main story to remove a lot of filler when the last expansion released and I haven't played through the streamlined story bit it should still be fairly sizable.

I also wish the article explained all that. I think that I will have more free time this year than last year, so perhaps it's time to finally check it out on Series X!

@Kaloudz I mean i clocked something like 400 hours on the base game plus a bit of Heavensward….

HowLongToBeat averages it at 244 hours haha. But of course people idle etc.

A game from 2010 no thanks

Seeing as there are a few comments here:

• Buying the game will get you all the content up to latest expansion Endwalker. You get 30 days free and then have to pay for a subscription.
• When pre-orders go up for Dawntrail (the new expansion out in summer) it's likely they will have a bundle that includes that expansion too so it's up to you which version you want to buy.
• The current free trial goes up to level 70 and is incredibly sizeable. We're talking 3 games worth of main story content and very, very sizeable amount of side content. Once you buy the game you can't go back to playing for free.
• The free trial will also give you access to 16 combat classes, 8 crafting classes and 3 gathering classes. All can be played and levelled up on one character.
• With the introduction of Trusts (party NPCs), all dungeons (which are mandatory for the story) are now available for solo play. You will need to group for some trials (basically big boss battles) and the Crystal Tower raid (which is incredibly easy and everyone is really chill so don't worry) is mandatory for the story also.

@Kaloudz Yep. The base game and first two expansions are in the free trial. As for the beta, the PS5 beta was basically the "launch" with a beta slapped on it in case there were any major bugs and the beta stayed up until the full release of the PS5 version so if you did want to jump in before then you'll likely be fine.

@Kaloudz No worries. Yeah, the trial is timeless so you can go at your own pace.

Probably just going to stick to ESO at this point but I may try it if there is a free trial.

This is good news for my XBOX fam. I started FFXIV at the launch of ARR on PC in September of 2013. Maybe that was the beta? Anyway, from there I played it on PS4 Pro, and now on my PS5. All this to say that FFXIV plays great on console. It works with mouse and keyboard as well as controller. I personally use one of the MMO mouse (mice?) with 12 button side pad. Also, all players can play together whether on PC, PlayStation, or Xbox.
