@KelticDevil I keep hoping for more of the 360 BC titles to be included - Halo Wars for instance... Mind you it means more money in my pocket for new releases
@crippyd I've heard a lot of contrary comments on the difficulty to be honest with some saying that it's a lot easier to start out with and the increase in difficulty is gradual and others saying there is a massive spike in difficulty early on...
@A_BabyRed_Yoshi Totally agree - there is no reason for the images to be so large... and square! I'd much rather they took the approach this guy has and double/triple the amount displayed at once and make them look like the physical games too which would make the 'collection' experience all the more rewarding.
I also have a ridiculous amount of games and that was before 360 BC arrived... it does literally take forever (well about 2 minutes) to scroll through them. At the very least we desperately need categories or genres adding asap to make it usable.
I've got two external drives (plus the internal) so I've been splitting my games between the 3 drives to try and create some sort of order of it all but it's far from ideal.
Ditto. If I was the publisher I'd probably avoid the Xbox too... Xbox is more synonymous with shooters and racing games. I know that's a big generalisation but most of the quirky JRPG's are on the Sony platform so people that like those tend to own that platform.
@RustyBullet Yeah I remember Impossible Mission - 'Kill him my robots!'. The sound and animation in that game were amazing for the time period. Most games dind't have saves in them days... no wonder I never finished many of them!
This is a great idea - I had indeed not heard about most of these so found it both invaluable and interesting.
As for my vote - I'm also big fan of the Duke. Will deffo be getting that - it's time to kick some ass and chew some bubblegum and I'm all outta bubblegum!
Episodic thing doesn't bother me really but then I'm a bit of a butterfly gamer... I'll always have several games on the go and will often take a break from one for a few weeks before going back to it.
I know some people like to devote themselves to a single game and finish it before moving on and I can fully appreciate that. If we were talking about The Witcher or Dragon Age or something like that with a strong story that would be negatively impacted by a lengthy break between Episodes then I'd also be against the idea.
The other benefit for me would be that (like KelticDevil), I didn't get on too well with the last game so this way I can dip my toe for £10 and see if I like the new game... if it turns out I don't then I've not wasted £50.
@BAMozzy Have to say I don't share your view with regards the life-span. I never expected to get the 10 years bandied around or even the 7 we got with the 360 but I did/do expect to get 5-6 as I have done with every other generation since the PS1. I don't want to have to lay down £3-400 notes every 3 years to keep up with new releases... that's why I jumped ship from PC gaming years ago.
Couldn't give a stuff about resolution and even the framerate, so long as it is consistent and doesn't stutter is of no real concern to me personally. I have a 1080p TV and won't be buying a 4K one anytime soon as there is simply next to no content to view on them. The Phantom Menace is still a crap movie whether in SD, HD or 4k... same with games (for me anyway) - that's why resolution-gate was so bloody annoying. Focus on the content, create compelling new IP's, sequels or re-boots of much loved franchises and stop with the top trumps stat pissing contests already.
Yeah so long as it's a slim or no optical drive version or some other variant that is no more powerful than my launch edition then I'm fine with whatever they do - anything else and I reserve the right to be very pissed off with MS.
My Xbox is set to automatically install updates in standby so presumably, even though I've not played it for a week or so, I still have the update... Would I still be affected or would I be safe if I wait until another patch comes out before playing it again?
@RustyBullet You're not wrong... would often spend countless hours rechecking everything... that was before the heady days of cover mounted cassette tapes lol. Wouldn't have the patience to do that these days...
I remember Repton... was a rip-off of Boulderdash on the C64 wasn't it Never had an Electron but had access to a BBC Micro and remember playing Revs and Elite on it - awesome games in their day!
I was ultra geeky and used to pick up a copy of Your Computer and then spend hours typing in code on my Commodore 64 before I could play my (usually crappy) game lol. Happy times though
Actually I'm quite chuffed with that sale Remember Me for 70% off and backwards compatible too... missed that one first time around so looking forward to giving it a go now!
I'd love to see some sort of sequel too although, like many others I suspect, I'd rather they created Alan Wake 2 first. Or at least start some sort of Episodic Alan Wake series - unlike Hitman that would be the perfect candidate for that sort of release.
As for pricing - I paid £32 for QB which I think is about right given that it is a relatively short game (compared to Fallout or Assassins Creed anyway). I will replay it on hard and get the rest of the collectibles and experience the other choice outcomes but after that, barring any DLC I will be done with it.
The single player campaign alone is enough to sell this to me... the idea of swords doesn't really appeal as I bet they don't really do that much damage... will probably just be like the melee punch in the old one...
What would be cool is if you could chop the limbs off other Titans... imagine a one legged titan hopping around the map, Knights of Ni style... now that would be cool!
I spent all my (gaming) time at the weekend playing Quantum Break and very enjoyable it was too.
I love Tron so that has piqued my interest now having read this. @SuperKMx Don't suppose it includes any Daft Punk Music and will PX be doing a review of it soon? Thanks.
@Gamer83 Totally agree about Lance Reddick being the star of the show. He certainly seems to exude gravitas in any role he plays - he was equally brilliant in Fringe for instance.
Not so sure about Aidan Gillen though - his accent seems to slip on occasion and it doesn't help that I can't get his 'littlefinger' GoT character out of my mind either
@KelticDevil Don't get me wrong, I've not reached any conclusions yet, or seen anything that puts me off, but I'd be lying if I didn't admit that I am a little anxious about how it's going to turn out given it's in new hands now.
@BAMozzy Totally agree about having some concerns. Gears is all about the campaign for me - if they neglect that then I may very well pass on this, or wait until it's in a sale.
I saw the trailer for the first gears at the Cinema and it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. This one just had me reaching for mute...
Yep this is definitely a challenging one... my first achievement was the one you get for rolling the car and carrying on!
I did keep restarting and managed to finish 3rd after a several goes but the cars seem very light and twitchy. I find on the downhill sections in particular it's very easy to lose control.
Still a cracking game though but not one you can just dip in and out of like Forza...
God that is bloody awful... why didn't they just use the original?
Would have thought it would have made much more of an impact with the softly spoken (sung?) original juxtaposed with the gritty violence on screen... just like they did with the original Mad World.
Really pleased to hear this - I'm enjoying it tremendously, even the 'TV' segments. However I will admit to being a bit worried about how well it would do given there seems to be quite a lot of negativity surrounding it. This is good news as I want it to do well so that more unique games like this are made in the future...
Dear Esther for me - I was thinking of picking it up to play on my Surface after reading some good things about it (I like exploration games - some people call them walking simulators I believe). Now I know it's coming to Xbox I'll wait for this version instead as I'll enjoy getting the achievements and playing it on a bigger screen.
Happy Days - I've been waiting for Barbie and Her Sisters: Puppy Rescue to go on sale for like forever. Now I can finally make my puppy rescuing dreams come true...
@VanillaLake They've altered the way the position of the stick is calculated apprently...
From Major Nelson:
Xbox Elite Wireless Controller improved thumbstick precision with firmware update: We heard from fans that you wanted to see improvements to the behavior of the thumbsticks on the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller, particularly when you are moving the thumbsticks diagonally. Based on this feedback, we’ve created a new method to calculate the position of the thumbsticks consistently, enabling thumbstick response that is more in line with what you are expecting. This method measures and uses the distance of the thumbstick position relative to the center focus point of the thumbstick base, instead of the standard method, which calculates the measurement using a two-dimensional plane. With the latest firmware update, you can expect increased accuracy of the thumbsticks on your Xbox Elite Wireless Controller for even greater control.
@ultraviolet I've no idea about whether you can take screenshots/clips without Gold as I've never been without it, I was just saying that there is a way to download them as he mentioned wanting to put them on a USB drive.
@Utena-mobile You can already save your screenshots although not directly on the Xbox. Go to xboxdvr.com and enter your gamertag. All your game clips and screenshots will be there and you can download them to your PC or even upload the video clips straight to youtube.
@KelticDevil Lego Batman is backwards compatible too so should really be in the top part of the list.
I also picked up Monkey Island 2 last night for a pittance of the store... think it was £1.82 or something ridiculously cheap. Now that we can purchase 360 games directly from the Xbox store it's just too easy/tempting!
Played the open Beta and really enjoyed it... although it certainly feels a hell of a lot harder than the version I used to play on my PC about 15 years ago! Going on my wishlist, but with Dirt Rally due next month I'll probably wait a while before picking it up...
I'm enjoying this too... I'm only level 6 or 7, going lone wolf.
Wasn't impressed with it last night though, I just couldn't get a game going. Kept getting 'Mike' errors when trying to launch the game... the one time I managed to connect it booted me out mid-mission so I rage quitted and loaded up something else.
I'll probably just play it to the conclusion of the story and then move on... especially given all the DLC seems to be MP focused. To be honest I'll probably have had enough of the game then too and be ready for something else.
Can't see the point of this when the original is on the BC list. Would rather re-play that again than this, especially as they've offered no incentive for existing owners.
I also backed the Console version of this longer ago than I care to mention (along with Elite). Had kind of forgotten about it... disappointed that it looks like the console version is still a long ways off. Looks terrific but then it's running on a high end PC so will probably look a lot different when it hits the Xbox. Interesting article.

Re: Review: Dark Souls III (Xbox One)
Superb review, this (along with baby red yoshi's gameplay clip of him fighting a boss) have sold it to me!
Re: Brand New: Issue 4 - Dunking, Snowboarding, Racing, Busting Ghosts
The Ghostbusters game looks just as s**t as the upcoming remake movie. Will be avoiding both of them like the plague!

Re: Deals With Gold: The Taken King Amongst This Week's Offers
@RustyBullet yeah that's a lovely little game, got it on release and the extra DLC when that came out too.

That's a big load of 'meh' for me this week unfortunately

D3 looks absolutely amazing but I've barely scratched the surface of DS2...

Good review - sounds like a decent game. Thanks for the tip about hiding in bins too!
Might pick this up once I've finished QB

Luckily I hadn't done my usual trick of buying it off the web store while at work otherwise I'd have been pretty disappointed!!
