Have to hold my hands up and confess that I'm a bit of a trekkie and I did sink quite a bit of time into this on the PC... I gave up on it after about a month because it got quite repetitive... never went back to it so not sure if the additions addressed the lack of variety of the missions.
Will definitely git it a whirl when it comes out though... Live long and prosper...
Good review... my main problem with the game now is I've pretty much forgotten everything that happened in the first one. Is there any king of recap like they have in the Telltale games?
Hate to be negative but this looks rubbish... might be entertaining for 15 minutes but I'm pretty sure the novelty of smashing things would wear off quickly after that... unless there is a lot more gameplay that they've not shown...
Battlefield and Dex for me. The former because it's a War I've always wanted to fight in (in a game not real life!) and the latter because it looks really cool and I like the Bladerunner/Deus-Ex type vibe to it all.
@KelticDevil Wish they'd make the Classic one Backward Compatible... I'd love some WWII action too... suppose I'll have to make do with the Wolfenstein games for now.
This looks promising although it's a little worrying that there was no footage of other cars on the track only time trials?
However watching this has just made me realise that I miss Ridge Racer so much! What the hell happened to that game? I remember playing that on everything from the very first Playstation right up to RR6 on the Xbox 360 and I think that was actually a launch game!!!
This is terrific news... I played this in its early days on my Surface and it was a lot of fun (bit like World of Tanks only with Mechs). However even with everything turned to low quality it didn't run too well. Will definitely give this a whirl when it comes out!
That's going to be a very crowded FPS market come the end of the year... Really can't see myself splashing out on Battlefield, COD and Titanfall all within the space of 2 months...
What???? I'm totally shocked by this announcement!
Surely the Infinity games and figures were making a truck load of cash... the Star Wars and Marvel ones in particular were hugely popular (and are what made me buy into the franchise in the first place). I know a hell of a lot of kids (and big kids) who are going to be upset at this news... not to mention the 300 poor sods who ended up on the chopping block.
Not so sure about this one... Nascar mostly involves driving round and round in circles... would rather they give us a BTCC add on with some proper racing!
It will be interesting to see if all this fuss actually translates into actual sales differences between the two franchises or if this is yet another case of the vocal minority getting a disproportionate amount of attention thanks to the interweb...
The Ghostbusters reboot might be a good litmus test...
That was a really amusing read, thanks Ken. My personal favourites were the 'I-Dong' for the hilarious name and ridiculous appearance and the 'Battman' for the ludicrously disingenuous name and box art
The Droid X360 actually looked kind of cool though and little Jimmy would surely have been happy playing Angry Birds on that
@Gamer83 I really enjoyed Origins and I'm genuinely disappointed that it hasn't been included... makes no sense for it to be omitted whatsoever to me. Wouldn't surprise me if what you suggest comes true though.
What would please me more though would be adding the whole lot to the BC list but that's not gonna happen as there's little money in that for them...
Great stuff - my wife adores these games and I must confess I quite enjoy them too when I want something really mellow and relaxing to chill with. Sometimes I'm simply too wound up after a stressful day at work to play Dark Souls and get even more worked up!
Hope it'll be priced like the Metro games and not be a rip-off... If it is I may well just pick this up as I never completed either of them on 360. Regardless of whether it was made by RockSteady or not they should have come to some sort of arrangement to have all 3 games presented together... Sucks that only first 2 are in the package.
Really impressed with how this looks. I thoroughly enjoyed the campaign in battlefield 4 so count me in. I've hankered for a WW1 game for years and this looks like it'll have everything you could ask for, horses, tanks, red baron aircraft... Can't wait!
"Voices of the characters intercalculated make us have so much presence!"
"Enjoy the new type of the game with the net working!"
"Give a cheer for nice plays of each other" ???
What the **** does any of that even mean?
I love retro shoot em ups but the presentation of that trailer made me want to gouge my eyes out. Did they deliberately write that gibberish or is that supposed to be some sort of cheesy humour? I must not be the target audience or I'm just really intolerant but that whole video just annoyed the hell out of me. Shame as there might be a really good shooter hiding beneath all that manga/anime tat...
@SuperKMx That threw me too, thought the new Theme Park or better yet Planet Coaster had been announced!
Against popular opinion I'm pretty interested in the new COD. Yes it's jumped the shark in terms of what a COD game used to be... but if you ignore that it still looks like it'll be a fun SP campaign and you get to shoot stuff up in space too! Not so sure about dropping £80 to get the Legacy edition for the Modern Warfare remaster though... that sucks. Would rather they made the original backwards compatible...
Before the Xbox One came out I used to used the older Game Capture HD quite a bit for doing minecraft videos on my 360. It was a decent bit of kit, although as you rightly mention the lag was atrocious... but only on the computer screen... the video output to my main screen was unaffected.
Since the Xbox One came out though the built in DVR functionality is more than enough for my own purposes. The captures may be compressed but they're good enough for me and the 5 minute limit isn't often an issue. Convenience > Quality for me
Even if I was still bothered about quality this is a hard sell like you say... doesn't offer much over my old one other than the ability to capture full HD 60fps video as apposed to 720p... not sure if that is such a big deal if the end result is going on YouTube or Twitch but then I guess I'm just no longer part of their target market at all
As others have said, that was a really great read... would love to read more stuff like this in future. Also extra brownie points for including the classic 'Charlie Says' image in the article!
I've been coming to this site almost daily for years and the main thing that keeps me coming back is the quality of the reviews and articles on the site and the friendly atmosphere. I don't always entirely agree with every review but they are always fair and if there's an issue it's explained so I can decide if that would be a problem for me personally. Over the years I must have saved a fortune by avoiding shoddy games and also picked up some real gems that I might have dismissed had it not been for PX's reviews. This is especially true for the indie games which are often overlooked elsewhere.
I do (obviously) look at reviews elsewhere but PX is my favourite, especially as I'm mostly an Xbox gamer. When the Xbox One launch faltered, other sites seemed to take it as an opportunity to publish a lot of fanboy clickbait articles. They'd often pepper their sites with sarcastic remarks that pandered to... the popular opinion of the time lets say. During this troubled time PX (and OXM - RIP) was a safe haven to get away from all the fanboy rubbish.
Long may PX be successful - god forbid we had to make do with the myriad of 'angry gamer' type channels on YouTube for our information!
@GooRoo Yep me too... wonder if/when EA realise they may be shooting themselves in the foot? I held off on Battlefield Hardline for this reason and Star Wars too... scratched the itch by playing the 10 hour trial (still got a few hours left lol). Only one I caved in on was Unravel...
@Vincent294 This should have been a no-brainer default as soon as BC launched... have to wonder about the (lack of) thought process that goes into some of these things
Saw this on my news feed on my xbox but when I tried to buy them from the store it said it wasn't possible on the Xbox One... Will give the website a go tomorrow... Never did finish the first one...
Can't wait for this... scrolling through what must be a couple of hundred games by now is a real chore...
They need to have categories or genres and make the thumbnails smaller so you can fit more on screen at once. While they are at it, lose the stupid square images and go back to making them look like their physical boxed counterparts like they did on 360, looked so much better!
The store needs a complete revamp too... dumping all the indie games in with the AAA stuff was a dumb idea... unless you know what you are looking for you can't find anything any more...
@KelticDevil and Arcade Wednesdays too, I always looked forward to finding out what the game of the week was... Cloning Clyde, Marble Blast Ultra, or a remastered classic like Doom or Wolfenstein. You just never new what to expect next. Each week was like a mini launch event... now stuff just appears out of the blue and then disappears out of the limelight just as quick to be missed completely unless it pops up in a sale... The store could really do with an overhaul come to think of it.
So that's why there's no COD games on the BC list... Very disappointing activision... Surely you've made enough money milking that cow of yours over the past 10 years to give a little goodwill back to your customers...
I don't have the time to invest in something like DC Online, presumably it will require much grinding with it being F2P anyway... would rather go back and complete Arkham Knight than waste time with this.
I love the look of Jumjet Rex though and I adore chip music (grew up in the 70's/80's) so that one is a no brainer... Brick Breaker looks like a cool re-imaging of Arkanoid so will probably get that too.
Party Hard is quite a disturbing idea for a game don't you think?
@Hxy3000 Yeah me too. I distinctly remember reading somewhere that it was a sure thing and it would be out real soon... but that was months ago. I actually bought the digital version off the store so I was ready to play it as soon as it was released... that's how confident I was of it coming out... possibly wasn't one of my best decisions with the benefit of hindsight
I'd forgotten all about this as it's been so long... I completed the first chapter some time last year! Will go and seek out the next chapter tonight!
Shame they don't automatically download when available and notify you when they're ready to play. With so many of these episodic games now it's hard to keep track of them all. Blues and Bullets is another one... only discovered there was a 2nd chapter out by pure chance!
@Sir_JBizzle I've got the chatpad too and experimented with using it for screenshots and recording but the buttons are just too far away and not easily identifiable by touch... Might be ok for the odd clip of minecraft but useless for capturing action mid fight in Dark Soul's or Quantum Break.
Regarding Doom... are you saying that if I were to buy it off the store it wouldn't work... but if I put the disc in it would? I thought the way it worked was it downloaded a digital copy off the store anyway even if you had the physical copy?
Would really like to play this one if possible but I don't own it currently.
@BAMozzy I've got an Elite controller but it would still definitely benefit from dedicated hardware screenshot and record buttons. Double-tapping the guide button is unreliable and a pain when you're in mid-flow. Verbal commands are too unreliable in my experience too. Add those and it would be nigh on perfect.
I'm quite pleased with this line up. I've wanted Peggle ever since I saw it was BC but wasn't willing to spend £7 on such an old game. Grid 2, missed that first time around so I'll have that too thank you very much. Already got DG2 and Costume Quest just ain't my thing... 2 out of 4 isn't bad
Such a shame... it started out so well but it seems the Dark Zone thing is totally broken. I've put in quite a good number of hours doing purely story missions but never got around to dipping my toe in the DZ. But with everything that's happened since those first few weeks I don't think I will ever bother now... wouldn't last 2 minutes.
@Captain_Chao5 With hindsight, just think how much more powerful the Xbox One could have been if the £100 that went on the now defunct Kinect had gone into the console itself... probably would have stomped all over the PS4 given it's current spec advantage is slim.
@Captain_Chao5 Given it looks like the Neo is coming out before the end of this year I guess Microsoft doesn't really have much choice now as it was already a little behind in the specs department.

Call of Duty, PGR, Condemned (anyone know why did that game only had 970 achievement points???) @SuperKMx, RR6 and Kameo were my pick of the crop. Superb console, probably the best I've ever owned to be honest. I burned through 3 of the white ones as they all succumbed to the dreaded RROD. MS fixed them all FOC but after the 3rd one I decided I'd had enough and bought a black Elite that stood the test of time until I sold it after getting my One.
It's spirit lives on every time I play a BC title on my One and see that boot-up animation and hear that distinctive whooshing sound.
Thanks for the interesting review - been curious about this one since it appeared out of the blue on the store as I'm a big Tron fan too...
I was still interested (in getting the game) all the way up to the point where you mentioned the micro-transactions. Now had this been a freemium title then I might have shrugged it off - but for a game costing £15.99 to have MT's implemented in the way you describe is totally taking the piss.
