Re: Rumour: New Wave of Backward Compatible Titles Coming During E3

stylon

@RustyBullet I played through the Ryse campaign twice to get the Legendary cheevo... but I do still have all the DLC stuff to complete, but there's an awful lot of grinding involved there unfortunately. I do need to finish off a lot of the side missions in RDR though... I kind of got a bit pissed with the way it ended and cast you as a different character so I stopped playing lol

Re: Review: Tropico 5: Penultimate Edition (Xbox One)

stylon

Like the sound of this a lot... I too have never played any of the others but really looking forward to giving this a go... used to love Sim CIty before it became rubbish and this seems to offer a lot more to keep you interested in playing.

With the save game issue... are you able to go in and delete old saves manually? If so might be an option to clean up after every couple of missions to avoid this problem until it gets patched?

Re: Backward Compatibility Spikes Black Ops Physical Sales in UK

stylon

@Utena-mobile way I looked at it was I'd already moved on from each game as the next game out... Most had been sat untouched on a shelf for months or years even so might as well get as much money as possible for them.

@Red620Ti You should have seen me when I bought my 360... Traded in my PS2 along with about 150 PS2 games AND over 200 PS1 games plus a ton of memory cards, light guns, controllers, racing wheels etc for both systems. I was there all afternoon lol.

Won't happen again through - mostly digital this gen.

Re: Soul Axiom Gets Launch Date, Exclusive Xbox One Content

stylon

Like the look of this (literally - there's a definite Tron/Lawnmower Man vibe to it) and I do like adventure/puzzle solving games. Can't make much sense of the plot from the trailer but it's cheap enough that I'll probably give this a punt at launch.

Re: Weirdness: Xbox One Runs Windows 95 and Duke Nukem 3D

stylon

That video has to be one of the most cringe-worthy things I've ever seen... maybe it would have come across better at the time? Still I'm assuming the pair of them did very well financially out of it.

With the Xbox One basically being a PC I'm surprised he wasn't able to get a version of Windows running natively on it... then you would have an interesting proposition!

Re: Backward Compatibility Spikes Black Ops Physical Sales in UK

stylon

Seems to be a bit of profiteering going on as I'm sure it wasn't that expensive when the news first broke?

I bought it digitally off the store and have been having a lot of fun with the campaign. Funny glitch with it though - while I'm playing, my friends are reporting that it says I'm playing "2 games" when they check their friend activity feed?

Re: Feature: 10 Oddities That Found a Home on Xbox

stylon

Wasn't able to view this on my work PC as it kept getting blocked by our web filter as being "pornographic". Surely that can't be right I was thinking to myself... so I whipped out my mobile only to find it was bang on!

Interesting article though... Always fancied a stab at steel battalion but glad I never bothered now - didn't know about the permadeath!

Re: Worms W.M.D Gets New Multiplayer Trailer

stylon

Wish they'd have a stab at bringing something other than Worms to the table. How about bringing back Project-X or Alien Breed 3D. I enjoy the worms games but there's only so many of them I can stomach... think I'm all wormed out.

Re: Brand New: Issue 8 - The Dirty Half Dozen

stylon

Top marks for the cool Lee Marvin quote @SuperKMx

Personally I'm totally stoked for Super Night Riders...

Although the Blue Angles sim gets a special mention (and my vote) as it's been a long time since there's been a flying game to play on Xbox. The Kinect Kung Fu also looks like it could be a lot of incredibly silly fun

Re: Confirmed: Call of Duty Black Ops Now Backward Compatible on Xbox One

stylon

@KelticDevil Haven't really played the campaign on this one but got a mate at work who raves about it. He says on a par with MW2 but not as good as MW1... but that's just his opinion. I do know it's all grounded in reality... the cold war, vietnam etc not futuristic stuff so it has that going for it! Looking forward to getting stuck into it myself

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Trilogy Coming to Xbox 360

stylon

Now if they'd done this AND announced that the trilogy would be backward compatible for Xbox One then they might have won themselves a little bit of goodwill back... christ, I probably would have bought it digitally so I could play them again on my One. But no, this is just another cash grabbing middle finger to its fans. They know what they can do with this collection...

Re: Review: Super Night Riders (Xbox One)

stylon

Wow... it actually sounds even worse than I imagined it would be (and in my mind it was pretty awful already). The repeating traffic pattern sounds particularly tragic. This actually makes LocoCycle look like a masterpiece by comparison!

Re: Project Spark Set to Close

stylon

I had a lot of fun with this, playing the games provided and dabbling with making my own. There was a pretty impressive clone of Minecraft made using this so it was clearly capable of some good stuff, although there was a lot of dross too. I also enjoyed Conkers Bad Fur Day that came out a while ago for it... will be sad to see it go

Re: Review: Grand Prix Rock 'n Racing (Xbox One)

stylon

Wow, I was actually contemplating getting this as I have have some spare funds in my MS account... so glad I read this review first!

I thought all games had to go through MS certification to make sure there were no game breaking bugs like the ones this is clearly riddled with?

Re: Out This Week: DOOM, Raiden V, GunWorld 2

stylon

Yep Doom for sure. Someone is having a laugh with Raiden - charging £40 for a shoot em up!

@Red620Ti - my copy of Doom is installing now... You know you want it really...

Whatch out for them loading screen difficulty settings though @Captain_Chao5

Re: Virtual Air Guitar Company Brings Martial Arts to Kinect for Xbox One

stylon

@Captain_Chao5 Indeed it did... although mine actually did die about 1 week before my extended GAME warranty ran out so I was lucky enough to get a free replacement. Still wouldn't be without it for the voice command stuff though which still impresses the hell out of friends and family who've never seen it before.

And of course the odd game like this! This looks like a lot of fun and I'll almost certainly be picking this up. Just have to hope I don't smash anything whilst I'm flailing my arms and legs around like a madman... kind of tricky when you're 6'4"

Re: Ghost Theory Kickstarter Campaign Successful, Game Set for Xbox One in 2017

stylon

Like the look of this A LOT! I'm a big fan of unique game experiences like this, although I just hope it isn't too scary (like Outlast!)

However I have to lay my cards on the table and say I'm not in the least bit interested in the VR side of it... already had a dabble with VR (Minecraft VR to be precise) and I have never felt so nauseous outside of being blind drunk.

Re: Super Night Riders Races to Xbox One Next Week

stylon

@RustyBullet Yeah I usually don't like to be too negative when someone has clearly spent a lot of time creating something... but in this instance I honestly don't feel like much time or effort has actually gone into this one...

Re: NPDs: Microsoft Tries to Spin Figures as Industry Shrinks in April

stylon

@BAMozzy To be honest I just don't remember any other console generation where there has been such an obsession of nitpicking the graphical fidelity of games. Maybe it's the switch in focus from reading reviews in paper based magazines to the web where things like Digital Foundry and YouTube reviewers exist purely to profit from fanning the flames of discontent...

I just want to play the latest games and am not really bothered by, or interested in, the sacrifices that were required to make it happen. If that means having to play at 720p for the rest of this generation then I'm fine with that...

Re: Super Night Riders Races to Xbox One Next Week

stylon

Blimey, they REALLY stripped back the graphics on this one to the bone... and yet it doesn't seem to retain the 8-bit / 16-bit charm of the originals. Character on the bike looks like a Mii with it's stick legs... I know it's supposed to be retro but this looks like it was thrown together using one of those cookie cutter game development packages.

Re: NPDs: Microsoft Tries to Spin Figures as Industry Shrinks in April

stylon

Agree with the comments above about the rumours... that sort of thing really impacts a lot of peoples' buying decisions. I know I would certainly be holding off on a new Xbox purchase until at least E3 to see what announcements are made...

The whole idea of there being a new more powerful console from either Sony or Microsoft really annoys me at this stage in their life-cycles to be honest. If I'd wanted this sort of scenario I would have gone back to PC gaming...

Re: Fancy Dropping $300 on an Xbox One Controller? Now You Can!

stylon

Had a look on their website and they seem to specialise in turning expensive, aspirational electronics into incredibly tacky looking tat that I wouldn't give house room to...

They've got an Apple iMac that they've coloured bright blue, a pink and purple PS4 pad, a bright yellow and green Bose sound system and loads more bizarre colour options.. Quality of the finish looks top notch but their design aesthetic is appalling.
