Canceling pre-orders will only lead to the end of collectors editions, physical copies of games are done, no one is developing new storage devices cheap enough to hold a full game and sell the game at a reasonable price and games are getting bigger, we are no more going back to full AAA games on a disk than we are music on CDs. Digital delivery with all its negatives is what the majority decided to support, it started with the launch of steam, consoles just took a little longer to get here.
So you have 2 options
1. Quit AAA Gaming and only play old games or indies 2. Buy Digital
@Ricky-Spanish no just pointing out that a remaster of a remaster is in no way shape or form a "new" game, anymore than painting your old car makes it a new car, it's an old game that runs better on modern hardware.
@CallMeDuraSouka I was replying to your comment where all you stated was you were jealous of Gears as a PS3 gamer and can now play it on PS5, I dont read all of your posts
@Fiendish-Beaver I think they should have done a full remake of the trilogy. It would please existing fans and put the best foot forward for new people to the franchise, if they wanted to build a fanbase on PS
@16BitHero yeah I am sad to say, it's over fir xbox consoles, I think PC us the best option, you get all xbox, and steam games and PS games after a little while or day 1 if its a PS exclusive that was money hatted to stay off xbox
@Kaloudz it's a rez and frame rate update, that's it, most of us actual fans were hoping for an actual remake in UE5 but we are not the audience MS gives a ***** about, they shat this out for the Sony fans
@K1LLEGAL no one is buying a console to play an old game that is now certain to releae in some half ass updated form on the console they own. It's just another reason not yk need an xbox moving forward
@OldGamer999 good to get in before tge price hike, I really should have gotten a second SX as a backup to play my backlog of xbox games as this will probably be my last gen with them as they seem to ve winding it down so I dont feel comfortable continuing to build a digital library with them. And my current SX is starting to sound like a jet engine, I was hoping it woukd get me to the next console but it seems, it is as committed to console gaming as MS us.
@fatpunkslim keep your head in the sand if that makes you feel better, all MS games moving forward will release day 1 on PS, why would they pick and choose now? Oblivion remaster would have been a huge exclusive for them. They are not going to waste marketing budget, marketing the same game 6 months apart, use your head and not your heart
@Fiendish-Beaver yeah, gamepass is now the only reason to get an xbox console, but with the price increases, if you spend just a little more you can get a more powerful pc, that still has gamepass but cheaper oh and access to thousands of steam games and PS games too. It's pretty clear MS are done with hardware and will be happy to be a game publisher from now on
@Kaloudz yup epic in that MS officially unofficially exited the hardware business, by pricing themselves out of whatever dwindling sales were left for the series consoles. The only thing that would make it clearer would be if they included a 50 bucks off a PS5 with Doom the dark ages purchase
@munstahunta they dont want to sell more consoles, they want to pull the plug on the coma patient but are worried about the family freaking out if they say it out loud, all their actions of late make it clear to anyone with a functioning brain they are done with consoles
What with zero reason to own an Xbox over a PC, it's almost as if MS want you to switch to PC. I wish they would at least try and hide it a little better, they couldn't be less obvious if they ran adds saying "***** Xbox, PC is better"
@Ilyn em well do sales figures tell you a lot more about popular games? How many bought the game years later when it's 5 bucks or a sale or how many people got it 2nd hand and the figure is not tracked in the data. Knowing that a gane is played by x amount of gamers for x amount of time may give a publisher more data to know what people really like, I can buy a game play for 5 mins and hate it, does that sale help a publisher to know to fund a sequel or knowing I not only bought the game but played it for hours
@StylesT as someone who has practically no time to game anymore I play nearly all games on story mode, there are so many games I want to experience but dieing and repeating large chunks of games means I get to experience less games, back in the day when I was time rich abd cash poor, J finished all my favorite games on insane difficulty.
@oopsiezz reminder devs dont put games on subscription services for free, depending on the deal they get full dev costs, free marketing or a dollar value per player so playing a game on a sub literally is supporting the dev and future games in the genre, buying a game playing it it ghen trading it in is worse for the industry
Yes of course, more people have easy access, every game is not for everyone, if you are buying on another platform you probably did some research into what the game actually is, turn based gameplay is not for everyone, in other news the sun continues to be hot
You is insane way of doing business. It' really does seem MS are done with the headaches of hardware, let Sony deal with, manufacturing costs/problems, import tarifs beyond your control, the cost of shipping linked to global oil prices again beyond your control no worries about marketing costs or shelf space at retailers, sure you give up that 30% you make on the sales of third party content but I am sure with the already low sales of consoles and the fact you have already trained xbox gamers to rely on gamepass for content the lost sales maybe be negligible. If anyone can come up with a better explanation I am all ears. Consoles are supposed to be a loss leader, and the console is approaching its 5 year on the market, I find it hard to believe MS could not eat what ever price hikes the tarifs created, considering that it is now old tech
Another clear bit of evidence that MS are existing the console market, it seems they want to reduce the number of xbox owners to as small a number as possible so the number of upset people when they make the announcement will be so low it should not have have a major impact. I mean currently xbox has no USPs as all games and service are on PC. But raising the price of your product higher than your main competitor when they are already des
@munstahunta I think all the leaks forced there hand, I think they planned to have this a shadow drop at the June showcase, but the last few leaks made it clear it was real and I guess it would have been anticlimactic to wait until June. Anyway gamepass is sure proving it's value this month in terms of grade A content
@AndroidBango "A "shadow drop" or "stealth drop" refers to the release of a product, such as a game, the same day it is announced or without any prior announcement."
Unless you can show links to where this was announced prior to today thiscwas very much a shadow drop
@PROPS Are you telling me you know the actual details of the quests in a 20 year old game?
If we are going to get remakes 20 year old games is the way to go, I a so tired of remaster of games that cane out 2 or 3 years ago where apart from very small visual updates nothing chznged from the version you still very clearly remember
@Decimateh yeah it does seem weird not to let Claire Obscure have some time to shine, but it's a multiplat game and it might be too niche to drive gamepass subs
@Nintendo4Sonic I think you need to let that go, xbox is a gamepass machine now, they will hopefully fund gamepass releases from sales on PS and Nintendo, and eventually anyone looking at the sheer quantity of games on gamepass may be tempted to jump ship. I too think they should have have had one last shot with all the content they now gave in the pipeline, but maybe this new approach is better, the absolute negatively around anything xbox may now somewhat be dampened by the fact the games are coming to PS it might give them a chance to build something from the ashes of the X1 and series gen
@Scrubchub yep, I used to buy a crazy amount of games and those that I liked enough to want to replay were few and far between, so, until recently I have been very happy with the content in gamepass, I got to play so many more games than I normally would and discover lots of new types of games I may never have tried if I had to pay up front, I still buy games, but mainly some games that I dont think will come to gamepass and those that are leaving the service that I really loved. Hopefully with expedition 33, Oblivion and then Doom gamepass is back to form
@Titntin I think they just have so much in the pipeline, and the impending black hole of GTA6 incoming that they just need to keep pushing stuff out now otherwise they could be sitting on if for awhile waiting for the GTA6 nuclear winter to pass, any game going up against GTA6 is probably going to struggle to get any coverage
@Fiendish-Beaver sorry what do you mean eternal was not up to the standards of the reboot and the sequel, I thought eternal was the sequel to 2016 reboot or am I missing something?
@Ricky-Spanish I really got into Doom with doom 3, I played the first 2 prior to 3, but much later than they released. But I loved the survival horror aspect, and at the time it was a new level of graphics, but I also loved Doom 2016, I enjoyed eternal but really disliked the platforming, dark ages seems like more my tempo. Would love another Doom 3 type game too
@Frmknst you forgot to write "for me" before what you wrote. I love great FPS, 3rd person and turn based games and many other types of games. I realize, like music or food or fashion... we all have different tastes, but saying definitively that people whose favorite colour is red are better than those with a different favorite colour is a bit childish
Anyone got any other turn based strategy games on Xbox heh woukd recommend, I think they are great for cloud gaming where amazing frame rate and graphics in general are not the focus
@Fiendish-Beaver will we ever see another X-com? I loved both on 360. It was always so tense. Played mutant year zero and Gears tactics both of which I enjoyed greatly but man I would love a new x-com
@fatpunkslim ok the literal article duscussed here has a dev backing up what I said, any game that releases on gampass and PC, Xbox and PS5 for sale, in the vast majority of cases sells more (Not necessarily is played by mire people) on PS5, simply because of the huge install base and they dont have access to gamepas, if you have links tk prove otherwise please post em. J gave been a gamepass subscriber since day 1 and keep an eye on how the service is doing, while I feel the recent price hike and fewer great high budget games is concerning, I still at the moment feel it's still worth it
I think small devs can use gamepass to advertise their games on other platforms if its a multiplat release. Many games sites always carry stories about whats releasing on gamepass that month, so it gets them free write ups they may otherwise not get, then as mentioned in the article there is the word of mouth, you might tell a friend that only had a PS5 about some great game you discovered on gamepass, which leads to a sale on PS5
@Trmn8r last I checked MS are not the only company releasing games for xbox. So not sure why I would have to wait until MS release a good game for me to get one. Though with MS removing most reasons to buy an Xbox, MS will soon be the only major publisher willing to release content for a future Xbox that might do WiiU sales figures.
@Trmn8r also not sure what your reference to push square is about, as far as I know that is a PS focused site, I currently only use an XSX, and I do not need your permission to voice my concern that the quality of gamepass games is reducing as is the quantity.
