Just over a month ago, we brought you the news that The Sinking City was getting a remastered version built in Unreal Engine 5, and the team has shadow dropped that game on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S today!

It's officially called The Sinking City Remastered, and it includes all of these new features:

  • Game fully relit in Unreal Engine 5
  • Enhanced locations with additional levels of detail and objects
  • 4K textures and improved reflections
  • Photo Mode
  • Support for DLSS, FSR and TSR upscaling
  • Various gameplay adjustments, certain accessibility features and more

The Sinking City Remastered is officially a free upgrade for anyone who owns The Sinking City for Xbox Series X|S, and that may also include the original Xbox One version. The new press release of the game mentions that an upgrade is "free to all existing owners", but it also says it's "free to all existing PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S players" - so please let us know either way on that one!

In the video up above, you can check out some comparison footage of The Sinking City vs. The Sinking City Remastered, showing how the visuals have received some pretty major improvements in this new release.

Sergiy Oganesyan, Publishing Director, Frogwares: ”We plan to do big things with The Sinking City IP, starting with the sequel and then beyond. So, after our rather well-known struggles with the original, it feels amazing to have this positive moment be part of the game’s twisted history and for us to be the ones to fully decide it. Making it free to all our existing fans is our way of giving back to them for having supported us all this time through thick and thin.”
