A boring one for me. Xbox really needs to figure out how to generate excitement again. Too many IPs forgotten or languishing in development for far too long. I truly hope they can turn things around, because a console market dominated by Sony and Nintendo would be horrific for consumers. At least Valve is stepping in with their new console-like device.
Some people will never be pleased and are just negative to be negative. This looks great to me. It will introduce Halo CE to a whole new generation of gamers that aren't likely to play the dated remaster, and it will be a fun experience to replay it with modernize graphics and finally 4-player coop with my friends.
It doesn't really make sense that it's been in development for "a few years" and yet isn't targeted until 2028. That's a longer development window than new mainline entries, let alone a remake. Also, since this leak partially comes from notoriously inaccurate Dusk Golem, I'll take it with a pinch of salt so large Chris Redfield would want to punch it.
Not a big enough improvement over my Legion Go to justify itself at all for me. I don't prefer the Windows OS on handhelds either. I would replace it with Bazzite or SteamOS on day one like I did with the Legion Go.
@Tasuki With that mentality I'm surprised you play anything, since just about every big game developer is owned by shady investors these days. Your profile picture is Borderlands 4, so do your views align with Take Two and their multiple megacorporate owners?
@GuyinPA75 Bit of a thread necro, but uh... Nadella wasn't even in charge at Microsoft when the Zune was discontinued lol. Zune was discontinued in 2011, Nadella took over in 2014.
I got my Legion Go with a Z1E nearly 2 years ago for $700. Now we have this at $1000 and it averages around 15-20% better real-world performance? Sorry, no thanks. I see now why Valve is waiting to produce a Steam Deck 2... there simply haven't been significant improvements in APUs to justify new models coming so frequently.
Visuals are nice, but here's hoping the game is actually good. It seems to have a major combat focus that to me seems a bit excessive for a Silent Hill game. It's trying to break the mold in a lot of ways which is risky but could be interesting.
Picked it up on Steam gladly to show support for this series. Played through it on PC, but I was also happy to see it runs exceptionally well on Steam Deck. I hope they remaster/remake the rest of the old Gears games.
I enjoyed the early days of the Series X, but it may well be the last gaming console I buy. I've fully committed to PC gaming with zero regrets at this point. You get games from Microsoft and Sony, you can upgrade whenever you feel like it, and you have Steam in all its glory. Consoles of course still have their place, just not for me any longer.
I have an OLED Deck, an original Deck and a Legion Go, so no. Zero interest in the overpriced Switch 2. I may pick up one of these, but I'll need to see reviews and performance first.
The battery needs to be user removable and replaceable, period. Not to mention, there's no excuse whatsoever to still be using potentiometers for the analogue sticks. I've taken to installing my own TMR modules in my Elite controllers because the potentiometers inevitably develop drift.
I'll believe it when I see it. 343 has dropped the ball so many times it's hard to have any faith in them unless there's been a major shakeup behind the scenes.
Sorry, but it's time. Microsoft needs to take drastic action to right the ship so to speak. These games that seemingly have endless development cycles are a big part of the problem.
"Gears Of War: E-Day Is Another Lost Xbox Exclusive"
Eh... it's 2025. We really should be past exclusive games being the selling point for consoles. It's a lose-lose. I would strongly prefer a future where games are available on all platforms, and what sells you on a platform is... the platform. That way games have larger, merged player bases, gamers don't need to buy multiple systems to play the games they want, and MS/Sony/Nintendo don't have to pay to make games exclusive or to sabotage each other's efforts (like Sony literally paying Capcom to keep RE Village off of Gamepass at launch).
At this point I've abandoned console gaming entirely and play exclusively on PC. My Series X was a good buy during the pandemic, but I certainly wouldn't buy one today, especially at an inflated price. Both Microsoft and Sony have been bringing their games to PC anyway. The only reason to buy a console is if you're on an budget, so their prices increasing is not good for anyone.
@LogicStrikesAgain That's just it. It's not corporate reasoning, it's government interference. These price increases are not their fault at all, while the earlier pricing of the PS5 Pro was. It's two different scenarios that aren't comparable.
@LogicStrikesAgain That doesn't really hold water because that PS5 Pro price was pre-tariffs. Let's see how they all shake out before making comparisons. Both Sony and Microsoft operate on extremely thin margins on hardware, typically losing money on the console itself. There's no way either can eat the cost increase of the tariffs.
This game had a lot of potential but they never put in the work to support it. Really sad. Wish we could get a new single-player Evil Dead game, because once those servers get turned off this game will be gone forever.
I wouldn't really miss a Titanfall "extraction shooter" honestly. I'd rather see a legitimate sequel. What's crazy is to see news like this, and then you turn around and see small indie projects that are massively successful. These big AAA project budgets are getting out of control, and this is the result.
Loving this but playing on PC. Performance is pretty much flawless. Honestly, it's pretty funny that Bethesda beat Skyblivion to the punch. Here's hoping Morrowind gets the same treatment soon.
@themightyant We actually have loads of data on hall effect sticks because they've been around for decades. Some devices currently use them as well, like my Lenovo Legion Go. As far as production, I'm sure that's a problem these billion dollar companies can solve if they care to. Also, with hall effect you can have tiny deadzones with no problem. When I upgraded my Steam Deck to hall effect modules I was able to reduce the factory deadzones by 80% with no issues to speak of over a year later.
@BowDownToZod No need for insinuations. I take great care of my electronics. I'm a professional in IT and electronics repair as well. The fact is that these controllers use potentiometers with a very limited lifespan. They are a wear item, so claiming they don't fail is like claiming to have brake pads on your car that never need replacing. Another hole in that argument is that replacing my potentiometers with hall effect modules completely eliminated the problem.
I got fed up after my third Elite controller developed drift. Sourced and installed my own hall effect modules in my third one and what do you know, no problems ever since. They're not expensive either, so there's really no excuse for MS/Sony/Nintendo not to use them.
Turtle Beach support is among the worst I've ever had to deal with. I had their new Stealth controller and the left stick started grinding which is a very common issue you'll see in other user reviews. Support 100% ghosted me after repeated emails, but thankfully I bought it via Amazon so I got myself a full refund. I've boycotted Turtle Beach ever since.
The amount of energy we're talking about here is so minuscule it's hardly worth mentioning. I haven't powered up my Series X in several months but it's been sitting there in standby mode all this time. I guess I'll somehow endure the few extra pennies on my power bill lol
@GuyinPA75 I have The Thing 1982 on VHS, DVD, two different Blurays (original and Collector's edition, HD-DVD (lol), and now on 4k bluray. It's one of my favorite movies of all time, and definitely my favorite horror movie.
People like to hate on this game, but for the time period it was actually quite good. I replayed it only a couple years ago on my Steam Deck after spending a good amount of time to get the antiquated abandonware PC version to work on it. This remaster is great in so many ways, but primarily because it makes the game accessible to casual gamers, modernizes the controls, and fixes the biggest issues of the original like scripted infections. I was happy to support Nightdive buy purchasing it.
To me it's mind-boggling when you see people defend 30 FPS games these days. Not talking about this game specifically, just in general. I'm thrilled to see this game freed from the awful 30fps limit, which has always hampered my enthusiasm to replay it. The fact that it is finally coming to PC is icing on the cake.
@babybilly Absolutely agree. Anyone calling it "barebones" is being disingenuous at best. It's one of the meatiest "remasters" ever made I would say... completely new graphics, engine and models, revamped AI, new items and weapons, redone achievements, and tons of other QoL improvements. Barebones would be like the Resident Evil 4 remaster (not the Remake) or the Red Dead 1 remaster where they literally just ported it to modern systems, increased the resolution and called it a day.
It's one of the best games ever released on the 360. The remaster made some unnecessary changes for "modern audiences" but overall it's fantastic. The QoL improvements alone make it worthwhile. It seems many people don't understand the difference between a remaster and a remake.
I'm no Pokémon fan, but it seems that the obvious solution for Nintendo would be to... release a good Pokémon game. If such a game existed, and was available on more than one platform, people wouldn't be as interested in knockoffs. That being said, unless this game directly uses Pokémon characters without permission, I don't see what Nintendo's argument is. Inspiration is not infringement.
Here's hoping that modern AI upscaling and frame generation can make the next generation the one that finally leaves abysmal 30 FPS performance in the rear-view mirror where it belongs. They should have set 60 FPS as the ground floor this generation, but maybe next gen will actually pull it off.
343's management of Halo has been so bad... I wish Microsoft would toss the keys to a different in-house developer. At the very least, 343 needs a top-to-bottom evaluation to figure out what is going on and how to fix it. The state of Halo Infinite multiplayer at launch was laughably bad, and yet some genius decided to release it early... with more focus on cosmetics than actual content.
I'll be playing it on PC, but it's stupid for it not to release on all systems. I'm sure Sony slid Konami a check to keep it off Xbox. PC is getting the best of both worlds these days with access to both Xbox and Sony's "exclusives"
I'm glad they didn't cave to people wanting the timer removed from the story mode. That's one of the defining features of the game. Also, the game does have Infinity Mode with no timer if that's more your style.

I never got into PGR. I was always more of a Forza/Burnout fan for racing games. Burnout 3 is probably still my favorite of all.

@Iceman247 Uh, no. Most people don't steal games. Not sure what relevance that has to the release date either.
Re: Terminator 2D: No Fate Receives Another Last-Minute Delay, Out On Xbox In Mid-December
They need to just stop announcing release dates until they are absolutely sure they are ready.
