@JayJ The 60fps bump definitely makes a game like Odyssey feel really good to play but with Watch Dogs Legion I'll happily play that at 30fps to keep ray tracing enabled.
It's the load times that matter most to me and they absolutely make AC Odyssey feel like a different game compared to the miserable times I had with it on PS4 Pro.
AC Odyssey Ultimate Edition. I gave up on this on PS4 Pro purely because of the glacial load times, it completely ruined the game for me.
Played about 6 hours of it today and it's an absolute joy to play on my new Series X, especially with that buttery 60fps and rapid load times. Loving it!
Managed to buy a Series X to replace my S. That's now on its way to the Netherlands as a bonus Xmas gift to my 5yr old twin nieces, filled with Lego games!
Have to pick OG. Mainly because of the amazing communities back then, when online gaming was in it's infancy. Met so many great people through PGR2 and Ninja Gaiden Black (via the MS games forums), many of whom I'm still in regular contact with after 20 years.
Infinity Gene is an absolute banger, as is Silvergun. Already own them but you'll get zero complaints from me. I love twin stick shooters so NeuroVoider is right up my street. Happy days!
The Ezio trilogy is by far my most enjoyed as we were with him from birth to retirement, seeing the evolution of his story and the games was amazing.
AC3 had awesome dual wield melee, AC4 is a pirate/sailing game, not an AC game.
AC Unity is the best gameplay AC game for me. It has the best stealth toolkit of all the games and the parkour is absolutely sublime. Never been bettered on either count.
Having seen where GTA has gone I bet Seamus Blackley still kicks himself daily for what could have been. It's very similar to Shuhei Yoshida declining to publish Demon's Souls outside of Japan, basically giving what became a franchise to Bandai. All because he thought the game was crap.
@J0nny5 Yeah, I bought it with points also. I totally understand why the game garners a lot of flack, especially from early adopters on last gen but I've had little to no issues with it. It's a solid enough game in it's current state on Series consoles.
I'm around 70 hours in on Series S, all played on patch 1.31 and I've enjoyed every minute so far, great game. Apart from the occasional lighting glitch and one crash when I first booted it up after moving it to an external SSD its been fine for me.
Not like you can see them fully anyway, pointless giving resources to something that's mostly obscured by tiles and adverts.
@FraserG Speaking of adverts, what's with the obnoxious amount of multiple video ads that play by default on this site lately? Three on this page alone. I tend not to adblock sites I like but purexbox just made my blocklist.
So glad San Andreas came to GP as it's the only one in the trilogy I wanted. I'd have been livid if I had to buy it.
@Alan_cartridge_ It became the rule (on Xbox at least) when MS removed the patch size limit and scrapped the charges for patch submission back on the 360. It's just gotten worse and worse over time until now when pushing out broken, unfinished messes has become the norm.
@BANJO You picked up some real good stuff there. The Motorstorm games are great fun, as are the Sly games but Uncharted 2 and The Last of Us are absolute classics. I'd recommend The Puppeteer, God of War 3 and 3D dot Game Heroes as must play PS3 exclusive titles down the line.
I already own all of these games so while there's nothing for me it's still a solid month and I'm happy for anyone that never played the 360 titles. You're getting two absolute gems.
Can't decide between FH1 or 5 so didn't vote. I'm enjoying FH5 but the original was just a really special game back in its day.
@sjbsixpack There is no Xbox ray tracing to distract you when driving, it does look amazing but it uses standard SSR, screen space reflections. RT is only available when viewing cars in Forza Vista.
@gollumb82
Yeah, I still have the original too, with a cherished manual save right outside the Namir boss fight room lol.
Totally agree on Missing Link. It's decent standalone DLC when played as originally intended and does makes some sense for continuity, filling the gap of the boat journey I guess. It just feels wrong that it got retrofitted directly into the DC and really breaks the flow of the game.
@gollumb82 Mate that right hook is epic! Smacking the snot out of Jaron Namir with one punch is pure gaming gold. Such a shame it got removed in the Director's Cut.
@gollumb82
Man I love Deus Ex: HR to bits though I'm still salty that the Foxiest of the Hounds achievement bugged out on me, twice!
I replicated my Xbox runs on PS3 and got the platinum, just to make me extra salty lol.
As for me, I just wrapped up the 100% on Borderlands 3 Guns, Love and Tentacles DLC so I'm onto Bounty of Blood. Have a good weekend all!
Favourite OG Xbox moment was PGR2, everything about it. Favourite 360 moment was getting 1250GS on Ninja Gaiden 2. Favourite XBO moment was MS sacking Kinect. Favourite Series S moment was the load times on FH4 after playing it on the VHS XBO lol.
@OldgamerDave If you have a Series S you won't have many issues as it runs really well on Series S. As of patch 1.23 Digital Foundry actually recommend it as the most stable console experience, albeit running at 30fps, it's a near perfect locked 30fps with crowd density matching the Series X.
@xanderten50 Yeah I would. I'm playing it on Series S and apart from the very occasional lighting glitch it looks and plays really well. Such a shame it's still a mess on older hardware, even on the newest patch.
@pip_muzz GoW 2018 has absolutely no new gameplay? As a hack/slash nut I never played another game that let me throw my melee weapon at an enemy, punch a dude in the face and recall my weapon while aiming at another dudes legs to trip him. Then catch and throw my weapon to pin another enemy to a wall while I'm still punching enemy No2 in the face.
That is new gameplay and no other GoW game had it nor has any other hack/slash game.
Thankfully RetroArch exists and the Series consoles are emulation beasts in dev mode. I just wish MS would bring some of their past BC work forwards. I find it odd that I can play stuff like PGR2 and JSRF on my 360 via BC but not on my newer consoles.
I understand there are licensing issues to consider but they must have found a solution somewhere as they are still playable with BC on older hardware.
@K1LLEGAL Yeah it's definitely a bit iffy. Stuff like Max Payne 3 and Onechanbara are showning up in my library but Vandal Hearts isn't and they want to charge me £9.99 for it. Hopefully they sort it out soon.
@antstephenson After PGR4 Martin Chudley (Bizarre's owner) wanted to make something else and sort of fell out with MS Game Studios. When the company folded a lot of the staff went to Playground/Turn10 and others formed Lucid Games so I guess there was nobody to make more PGR titles and MS had 2 stellar driving games on their books in Forza and FH. Such a shame we'll likely never see a new PGR.
@antstephenson The whole PGR IP had a weird birth but it always belonged to MS. Bizarre made Metropolis Street Racer for the Sega Dreamcast and Sega still hold the rights to it.
PGR 1 was basically a remaster of MSR but they couldn't use the name and Project Gotham was the working title that just stuck and MS bankrolled the game so ended up with the IP ownership.
Some great titles there but Battlefield 4 did not launch well at all. That game was broken for an entire year and was absolutely unplayable at launch. EA even apologised for putting it out in the state it was in.
@Krzzystuff I think it's a bug, no matter what car I quit my session in it always puts me in the Supra when I next play and more often than not my character has default clothing instead of the gear I changed it to.
@Cherip-the-Ripper I never use QR but I assume it wouldn't swap my car to the Supra. Point is it shouldn't be doing it. Default behaviour should leave you in the car you last drove. Like I said, minor niggle.
Having fun with it, I just wish it would remember the car I last used and wouldn't put me in the Supra by default every time I start the game. Minor niggle but annoying nonetheless.
I don't really like the new Claude and Tommy models much but thankfully the San Andreas characters seem to have held on to their original look. Sweet still looks like Sweet and CJ still looks like Thierry Henry.
More of the same is exactly what I want. Take everything I loved about blasting through Oz or the UK and drop me in Mexico to do it all over again. Roll on midnight!

Re: The First Two Of January 2022's Xbox Games With Gold Are Now Available
@Alduin One of the greatest games of its genre is a poor selection? You might not be a shmup fan but Radiant Silvergun is the polar opposite of poor.
