I am absolutely certain there will be new hardware. I just don't think anyone will buy it. They claim they lost this generation as gamers had built their digital library on Playstation and so now think the best strategy is to go up against Steam? Makes no sense.

Of course this will just be the precursor to ads being rolled out on every tier, although I expect whatever Ultimate subscribers are left will enjoy "reduced advertisements" or some similar BS. The enshitification will then be complete.

The last thing I want is a handheld with Windows on it, SteamOS all the way!

They need to actually be selling the regular consoles first. Right about now they'd need to pay me to take an Xbox.

Hard no. Why would I want to buy a PC handheld that’s hobbled with Windows and still can’t play Xbox games. It’s all about SteamOS I’m afraid. Typical half-arsed MS bandwagon jumping that’s doomed to fail.

I’ve owned all the Xboxes and my Series X has been the least used, by a very, very long way. Nothing wrong with the console, it’s been the content. By the time Microsoft sorted themselves out I’d already moved on to PC. It will probably just gather dust now, unloved and never used.

I expect if MS bought Ubi they would make it less big to manage within 6-12 months.

So it’s going to be just a handheld PC with an Xbox sticker slapped on it and infected with MS bloatware. I’ll take SteamOS please.

Of course Microsoft will partner to launch an Xbox branded handheld that will likely sink into oblivion against the myriad handheld PCs and will muddy the waters of the launch of the real deal handheld.

Why Microsoft, why? Do it once, and do it right.

If MS allow other stores such as Steam on it, they’re going to lose revenue, which will only pressure an increase in the retail price of what is likely to be a costly piece of hardware. If they don’t allow other stores, well that’s not very PC like

No games, no marketing, then when they do have games and start marketing it’s to tell you that you don’t need to buy an Xbox.

What outcome did MS expect?

When GTA V launched on PS3/360 it took till the next generation until console performance really allowed it to run well. I hope VI is not the same story, although I suspect it may.

Still getting DLSS problems playing on PC here, so they've not fixed it.

This strategy is baffling. 'Enjoying Xbox on all your devices' is like saying 'Enjoy your Universal Pictures movies on all devices.' Gamers will follow the good titles. Strip the platform of its loyalty and uniqueness, and I'll just go where there's more choice. Hi Sony or Steam.

'All devices' hinges on streaming, which most gamers will outright reject. Everyone else is content with Candy Crush on their phone, if Satya thinks their going to take out a Game Pass subscription to play Gears on their Android phone then he is completely deluded.

Gamescom for me cemented that there is going to be little point in owning an Xbox for new games moving forward. Certainly purchasing any next-gen Xbox or handheld Xbox is no longer a consideration for me; but I will continue to enjoy my library (for as long as their activation servers allow it). It looks like my 20 odd year association with Xbox is likely coming to an end.

MS are clearly going to end up handing the performance hardware crown to Sony, either as a direct or indirect consequence of their strategy. I am sure they believe they can dominate publishing with their AB acquisition and all their other studios. God help them when/if CoD ceases to be popular.

Imagine being so arrogant that it must be the platforms fault, rather than nobody wanted to buy your game. Again.

I think Microsoft believe that Horizon fills the PGR shaped hole, it doesn’t. FH5 showed that for now, Playground Games did everything they could with FH4.

They have the engine, and I am sure Playground could knock it out of the park with a PGR game. Time to rest Horizon for a couple of years, and make something more focused.

They're too small and too costly IMO. If I'm going to increase the storage I want to do it by more than 1TB; when I can get at least 2TB for signficantly less than the current price I may then get one.

For now, an external USB SSD is cheap, and is quick for moving titles back and forth.

4K support in the dash would be nice.

OG Xbox, it was my first ever console after being an Amiga then PC gamer for a long time. I can't remember exactly when I bought it, although I do know my first games were Halo and PGR2. I have some very happy memories of long evenings playing PGR2 on Xbox Live.
