@Banjo- Well technically this is possible. Xbox OS is technically based on Windows and features a customized/optimized version of DirectX. On top of that there is a virtualization layer (based on HyperV). So it could run both OS if MS wants to. Even if there would be some low level details, these can be emulated somehow.
And don't forget that MS have all the specs and source codes, they can create a custom kernel specifically for that hardware while maintaining the compatibility with the current software.
I don't want to go into too much detail, but it is definitely possibile to create such console
@BacklogBrad I agree with you about smaller titles and live service games, but I'm not sure about Hellblade 2. I think they will keep it as an exclusive, mainly for two reasons:
There are a lot of rumors about this game, it could be considered a flagship title for this generation of Xbox.
Taking into account that this is the second chapter in the serie, I think most players on other consoles are more interested in starting from the first game.
I finished the main story of Sonic Frontiers (yesterday) and now I'm enjoying Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Dry Twice (finished the first one on the Switch long time ago). Pretty fun adventure game.
This doesnāt affect me as I only have original controllers and if Iāll ever buy an arcade stick Iāll choose a licensed one. In the past I had unofficial/unlicensed controllers for various consoles, but the quality was very inferior when compared to the original ones Maybe it was just bad luck, but for example the analog sticks of unlicensed gamepads are really bad in my experience. That said, at least for controllers, I prefer buying original or licensed ones.
Hopefully this update will help fighting XIM users that ruined the fun in many competitive multiplayer games.
I decided to buy The Quarry (Series X version) yesterday night as it was on sale, so I'll probably start playing it today. I like these kind of games, so hopefully I'll enjoy it.
I really enjoyed the first one back in 2009. The second one was... not so exciting as the first one... maybe because I played it on console and missed a lot of the custom maps of the first one. Looking forward to this third installment!!
Thing is... I miss all the community mods and creations that the PC version had.
@Kaloudz I 100% agree! Also, don't forget that the best part of Quake 3 was the ability to create custom maps etc. That feature alone was the base to build a very strong community for that game. I miss that time, user crated stuff were and added value to the games.
I just bought some OG Xbox backwards compatible games:
Fuzion Frenzy, Crimson Skies, Psychonauts and Red Faction II
EDIT: Both Fuzion Frenzy and Crimson Skies are in gamepass (I completed Crimson Skies a few years ago) but I liked them so much that I decided to buy them both since they are so cheap right now!
While I agree that MS is pushing GP so much, Iād like to remember that you can still buy the games you liked. I donāt agree with the idea that MS will just remove the ability to buy games⦠donāt forget that retro-compatibility was one of the hilighted features of the Xbox marketing campaing.
As for the āfear of losing your stuffā: this is concrete, IN ALL PLATFORMS (except GOG if you backup your games regularly on your own media), but at least I think MS in handling this better than their competitors (but, again, this is due to the retro-compatibility). For example, all the games bought on 3DS are gone when N closed the shop.

I'm back at Halo Infinite multiplayer. I'm enjoying the free 20 tiers operation. The only problem is that this game is harder than I remember š³

Re: Xbox Might Be Looking Into A Handheld Console As PlayStation Rumours Circulate
I'm interested in. I would definitely buy a portable xbox console (if it is not a mere streaming device, I can use my iPad for that).
Let's hope!
EDIT: the real questions is: will it come with a regular Windows OS (like other products in the market) or will it be powered by the custom Xbox OS?

Re: How To Activate The Baldur's Gate 3 Deleted Saves Fix On Xbox
Is this update solely intended to fix the BG3 issue or is it a more "general" fix that affects other games? Thanks
Re: Xbox Just Put Another 600+ Games On Sale For The Next Week
Beyond a Steel Sky is currently priced at 6.99ā¬. I've had this game in my watch list for quite some time, I think it is the right time to buy it.
EDIT: Syberia 3 is 4.99⬠ATM. Not good like the first two chapters, but still enjoyable.
Re: Talking Point: 10 Years Later, What Do You Think Of 'The Master Chief Collection' In 2024?
MCC is something you must have and it is the best way to get into the Halo world. I have a physical copy (and I'm digital only since the last gen).
Re: Report Uncovers Three More 'SEGA Classics' That Could Return For Xbox Series X|S
I hope for a Skies of Arcadia Remake and a new Outrun. A new Virtua Fighter and Virtual Tennis would be also very welcome.
Re: Poll: How Often Do You Buy DLC Packs & Expansions For Your Games?
Only for games I really love.
For example I purchased all the DLCs in Arcade Paradise.
Re: Talking Point: Do You Think Xbox Will Ever Stop Making Consoles?
@BacklogBrad they could just create a VM and embed it on the Xbox windows app. Something like Fission on XB1 (to emulate the X360).
Re: Xbox's New Developer Direct Will Feature First-Look Gameplay From Indiana Jones
Great! I'm really intrigued by this game! Looking forward to this event!

Re: Talking Point: Three Months Since It Ended, Are You Missing Xbox Games With Gold?
The only thing I miss about GwG is the 360 games. Once redeemed, they were permanently added to your library.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think Of The New Xbox Home Experience?
It's definitely moving in the right direction, but I'd like to be able to customize the tab order.
Also, am I the only one who would like to get more dynamic wallpapers?
