Re: Starfield Dev Calls Out 'Unreasonable' Criticism From Some People On Social Media

JokerBoy422

That's right Bethesda, it's the entire player community that's wrong...

Jesus, claiming it's a miracle the game is even working isn't a compliment guys. That means their refusal to abandon the Creation Engine is at its breaking point. That engine is trash, was always trash, but they kept it because it made it easier for fans to mod for and in turn take advantage of fans to fix their games for them as well. I sound harsh with that claim yes, but they haven't released a single game on that engine that didn't require fans to clean up their mess due to their refusal to do it professionally. That's why EVERYONE runs those games with the fans patch mod. It's mandatory and quite frankly it should embarrass the hell out of Bethesda, sadly though it does not.

Re: Bethesda Reveals What's Coming To Starfield Update 1.8.83 This Month

JokerBoy422

@theduckofdeath yeah I totally agree. They did tell us it would be empty but I guess it just hits different when youre walking in a straight line and there's nothing at all to do, see, or hear until you reach your destination. Even if it meant I might struggle with difficulty or something I'd take it. If I was low health and something killed me at least it was a point of engagement where I felt like I did something that mattered enough that it got me killed. It also adds an amount of a rewarding feeling when I finally make it to my destination. Like I accomplished something no matter how small it was.

Re: Bethesda Reveals What's Coming To Starfield Update 1.8.83 This Month

So here's my rant. This is a good start. Get the technical issues out of the way and then hopefully they can focus on fixing the rest of the game. For instance, make it fun. Seriously, I joke, but this game needs things happening in planets between waypoints. If I have to manually walk a mile or more from that "defunct robot factory" to that "landmark anomaly" then fine, but something either needs to be added between those destinations like a random encounter or add a galaxy wide radio station broadcast akin to the Fallout games. This game is so boring when you're out trying to explore.

Starfield also desperately needs build diversity. Give me more than 3 energy weapons since everything is all ballistics. Sure you have 10,000 different types of ammunition but theyre all ballistics and they could have easy just been 5 different ballistic types. So more guns that aren't ballistics please. Melee needs to be redesigned as well since everything technically functions the same and there is no difference between a baton and anything else you can wield. Please God, fix the perk chark! That's the biggest snooze fest of all. This NASA punk esthetic is so dull and drab and thats fine if it's what they want but the perks shouldn't also reflect that.

I fall asleep when playing this but I don't have to, it can become a better game if THEY fix it, not the modders. I low-key feel like this game needs a relaunch of sorts like Cyberpunk and No Man's Sky got. Starfield is good no doubt, but there's no excuse why it's not great.

Re: Xbox's New AI Partnership Is Stirring Up A Heated Debate On Social Media

JokerBoy422

@BrilliantBill and with that I see a total win. In the short term AI is just a helping tool to help devs get games out. Let's take advantage of it while it's still innocent. The real issue is when the total product is AI made. Then we can all have this bigger discussion.

As far as people being laid off that really does suck but every industry is having worldwide layoffs. We need to stop this bigotry that only game dev jobs matter.

Re: Xbox's New AI Partnership Is Stirring Up A Heated Debate On Social Media

JokerBoy422

@RazputinAquato no I totally agree with you but it doesn't matter at the end of the day. Most people can't tell the difference between real art and AI art. We already have AI doing word processing work in the industry already. As an example the dev apology the Gollum team put out was written by AI and no one could tell until it leaked that that was what happened. We've had AI doing lots of jobs already and even though most will never admit it, I have a feeling we've already been playing games and watching movies that had AI writing in them because some of these games and movies have such bad writing that I can't imagine that amount of trash came solely from a human brain. Not to mention the AI tools used in many games we have already known about for years that gave us AI created classics such as the GTA Definitive Trilogy.

I'm of the belief that a good chuck of all the layoffs we've seen this year was preparatory for new AI jobs. Don't need the Destiny composer anymore if they can have AI make an amalgamation of all the previous work they have the rights to. Again this sucks, but nothing we can do about it but watch it play out. Don't like AI products? Let them know with your wallet. The companies doing this don't care about anyone's Twitter rants as long as the cash flow keeps chugging along.

Re: Xbox's New AI Partnership Is Stirring Up A Heated Debate On Social Media

JokerBoy422

I've listened to many takes on this subject and i kind of feel like after everyone's thoughts I find myself agreeing with Asmingold as much as I dont actually want to. I don't like the thought of AI going forward but it's here no matter how much I hate it. The biggest issue is everyone's bigotry on why its ok to lay off fast food workers and postal workers etc. in favor of quicker AI and robotics but jobs specifically in the games and film industry should be seen as the hill to die on.

Re: Xbox Signs New AI Partnership To 'Assist And Empower' Game Creators

JokerBoy422

Oh boy, here we go. This is one of the big reasons we've seen so many layoffs this year. All these corporations have been prepping this AI takeover. This really sucks to hear. It's great cuz games will be pumped out quicker but means we'll get more issues like we saw with the AI masterpiece that was the GTA Definitive Trilogy. I really do hope I'm wrong but the way the industry has been going the last couple years I highly doubt I am. At the end of the day corporations are going to corporate and all that matters to them is cash flow.

Re: Some Xbox Fans Aren't Happy About 'Intrusive' Call Of Duty: MW3 Ads

JokerBoy422

@Halucigens I never said you couldn't enjoy videogames... i don't think you get it. No one here is complaining about this because they don't want you to enjoy games. People are mad because ads are becoming bigger and bigger everyday. I'm not mad about the one simple MW3 ad today. I'm frustrated because I know what Microsoft is likely to do in the future if we don't cause a fuss. If it causes enough negative feedback that could affect shareholders confidence or at least put them in a negative public viewpoint and then they'll stop or at least pull back a little. And the complaining against Gold last year did work as they pulled back on the price increase so I'm not sure of your point there. They changed what the service is now called a couple months ago but it's still essentially the same service...

Re: Starfield Adds Nvidia DLSS Support In Steam Beta Update Next Week

JokerBoy422

@AverageGamer oh I completely understand that. My complaint is that this is something that should have been ready at launch. The main menu screen is in full HDR at a high nit scale. Once you start the game though it auto locks the HDR to never go above 400 nits not to mention the colors are horrible and drab because of it. Most devs haven't really had this issue even when their HDR is also broken.

Re: 'The Finals' Dev Responds To Criticisms About Use Of AI Voiceovers

JokerBoy422

Maybe not the end goal, but definitely the current goal. Once the precedence is set, you can say goodbye to voice actors. No company is going to want to publish a game that costs more to pay real people if they can save money with A.I. They'll hide behind "fiduciary duty" and since most people think that's a legit excuse, it'll be allowed until there's a strike.

Re: It Sounds Like Capcom Is Considering Raising Its Game Prices

JokerBoy422

@NeoRatt I don't know, those remasters came out quite a while ago. I don't know they even represent what Capcom is currently all about. Even then, they weren't bad ports and most of them had new features and/or better frame rates and resolutions. Not to mention as well, for the most part that's what a remaster is, a glorified port. Hell, id kill for a cheap port of Dino Crisis on modern consoles!

Re: It Looks Like Hideo Kojima Is Spending His Spare Time On Starfield

JokerBoy422

Ok so this game is amazing but there is a weirdness to it where you could put in 30hrs and still not really "get" the game. I'm loving it but not "there" yet, however I'm hearing there is that classic Bethesda "moment" when the game REALLY opens up and hooks you in. I've also heard it reinvents the wheel for New Game + and I'm curious to see how all these things will affect future developments of other games going forward. ESPECIALLY with Hideo Kojima! This guy is probably going nuts with new ideas while playing this and I am stoked to see what he does in the future now!

Re: Sony Won't Share Confidential PS6 Details With Activision If Xbox Deal Is Approved

JokerBoy422

This makes no sense to me. Is Jim saying multiplatform games have never existed lol? They've always had access to each other's tech behind the scenes. That's unfortunately just how this works. How do they think multiplatform games get made for next gen consoles before the new consoles are released? Everyone has access to dev kits no matter what. Jim really hoping to pull one over the courts here...
