Re: Phil Spencer Responds To Concerns Over New Xbox Enforcement System

Hutchilawd

It's simple. Don't act like a know it all abusive knob head and you'll be fine. Are the people who are worried about this worried because they may get called out? The only issue I see is that it may take a while to them getting around to reviewing every case. So that time someone said, "you f*ck*ng w*nk*r!" may get them a ban 6 months down the line.
I've heard grown men and women scream obscene stuff on a game like fortnite when my daughter has been online. If you can't control your anger during what is essentially a kids' game, what kind of person are you, really? An xbox ban should be the least of your concerns. At least MS are trying to do something about it. Might work. Might not. Don't care, I'm fully in control of my emotions.

Re: Remedy Dev Reckons There's 'Nothing Surprising' About Baldur's Gate 3 Xbox Series S Debacle

Hutchilawd

I said right at the beginning that the Series S was a ridiculously stupid move from MS. It's like they thought, "yes, we want your all singing, all dancing, bells and whistles attached games on our next gen 'worlds most powerful console'... Oh, and those games will have to work on what is basically a mid gen console too".
While game development isn't easy, it's easier to work on a game for two kind of equal consoles in ps5 and xbox series X. But when it comes to series X, devs are having to develop based on the much less powerful series S. It is without a doubt holding back the series X, infact, as we move in to a new era of gaming, where games are bigger, better and more detailed than ever, the series S might turn out to be the rectangle shaped nail in the xbox coffin. Develop a game for ps5? Here's the specs... Develop a game for xbox series X?.... Here's the specs.... Oh, and here's the lesser specs the game has to run on too.
Microsoft has done a huge amount right this generation, but their usual 'once a generation' blunder has been a huge one this time. Series S will go down in history as Series X's anchor.... Or Iceberg.

Re: Your Last Ever Games With Gold Titles Are Now Available On Xbox

Hutchilawd

I'll kind of miss GWG. It really is like an xbox tradition. Yeah, there's been some utter tat but there's been a few gems too. Strange, whenever I think about xbox live gold, I instantly think of that little headset and the quite frankly amazing xbox live arcade. Free games, no matter if good or bad, were free. And free is always good. RIP GWG!

Ghost recon wildlands. Actually bought it a few months back and wasn't impressed. But spent a little time on it and wow, what a fantastic game. And this is where I guess gamepass is a good thing for devs. I'm enjoying it so much, I saw Breakpoint was on sale, down from £100 to £20 so redeemed some rewards points and bought it.
I'm just loving the "do what you want, when you want" aspect of wildlands. And the various ways of clearing outposts etc. Sneaky, in and out with Intel, running in guns a blazing, calling for a diversion, and of course.... Running baddies over in a clapped out pick up truck 😂
On PC I'm playing tonnes of retro games I got on a Batocera drive from Aliexpress. Best £70 I've spent in ages. Virtual Tennis from the dreamcast.... There hasn't been a better tennis game since.

Happy gaming people!

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 Aiming For 2023 Xbox Release, But Series S Version Still Needs More Work

Hutchilawd

What? The same series S that IS NOT (according to Phil Spencer) holding back the series X? The series S was a huge miscalculation on Microsoft's part. At some stage, if the series X gets "pushed to it's limit" then surely the lower spec series S won't be able to cope? Series S is fast becoming the problem child. That's just my opinion, but it sure seems that way. I do hope I'm wrong though.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 17-18)

Hutchilawd

There's always someone who comes to an xbox site to say, "I'll be playing my ps5". Jolly for you. I've been playing pinball fx and looking at how the "improved" tables that I already own on pinball fx 3 are worse looking and play worse and decided zen are getting not another penny from me. It's the digital equivalent of daylight robbery. D*cks.

Re: Xbox's Internal Teams Are No Longer Making Games For Xbox One, Confirms Exec

Hutchilawd

@Bionic-Spencer yeah, I said that a while back when Microsoft claimed the series S isn't holding games back. Of course it is! If a game is designed to run on both S and X, then the best we can expect is a game that pushes the S to the limits, not the X. It was a terrible idea from the start, having two consoles. I still think we are in gen 8 and a half. Nothing on series X has blew me away yet, and it's purely down to the whole series S issue. Until they fully stop xbox one game creation, and start releasing completely separate editions of games (as in series X and series S editions... Not series X AND S) nothing is going to change. I firmly believe that the Series S is this generation's Microsoft "ooops" moment. They get one every generation lol.

Re: Last Year's Xbox Showcase Included 14 Games That Haven't Released Yet

Hutchilawd

I like the look of Ara. It'll fill the gap left by Humankind's no show on xbox. Looks like I'll be firing up thd PC and giving the series X a well deserved rest. I just wish they'd port Rise of Nations to x box... It did briefly appear in the store with the "not avaliable" thing where price should be. So I live in hope of that happening

Re: Ubisoft's Trackmania Launches For Free On Xbox Consoles Next Week

Hutchilawd

Been playing this to death. Really does have that "one more try" thing going on. The short, quick tracks are perfect for it. When you know you can shave 0.010 seconds of the first section... And get the 2nd and 3rd section aced. Only downside is no friends leader boards unless you pay for the club access. But I am loving it. Solid 9 out if 10.

Re: The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum Dev Apologises For Issues & Is 'Committed' To Patching The Game On Xbox

Hutchilawd

AAA game is a mess on day one!? Who would have ever thought that would happen again? And again, and again? If I buy a product, whether it be food, a car, a stereo or a game... If it doesn't deliver as promised, I expect a full refund. And until game developers are forced into this, it will continue to happen.
In a way, it's also all those, "I must have this on day one!" gamers fault too. The last 2 or 3 years have shown, if you buy a game day one, you're most likely going to be paying for crap. Despite the red flags waving in your faces for 2 or 3 years, you all still pay ridiculous day one/pre order prices for a game.... And get what everyone with a bit of patience knew you'd get.... Crap. If we stop buying day one, maybe Devs will actually stop and ponder why. But, while they make tonnes of cash from people that are so desperate to buy their half baked product... Why would they change? You can't possibly think that they didn't know it was awful before releasing it, surely?
It's actually borderline theft. Maybe the CMA and other consumer groups need to focus on that. Rather than make wrong decisions about mergers.

Re: European Commission Explains Why It Disagreed With UK CMA Over Xbox ActiBlizz Deal

Hutchilawd

@Wheatly I understand that the majority isn't always right. But there are certain cases where I think it probably is. This being one of them. We live in a country, ruled by someone no one voted for. Not for the first time. I mean, had the amount of scandal and, well basically theft occoured before an election, no one would've put the tories in power. As I said, these 'independant"bodies, like the CMA are in bed with the government. When I first heard the decision, I instantly thought, "tories". There's just something not right about it all. It's strange at the very least.
At the end of the day, MS will just circumnavigate the UK should this deal not happen. And, as always, it's the people (in this case gamers) that will lose out. The thing is, most folks either play xbox, or PlayStation. Yeah, some have both. But most are one or the other. Phil Spencer himself recently said, "Starfield isn't going to be an 11 out of 10 and make people sell their PlayStation". He understands that, it's not about converting people, it's about keeping current xbox players, and hoping PlayStation players become a 2 console situation.
I'm not arguing any point, I'm just seeing it how I see it, and you're right, folks will come at it from all angles. I just don't want to end up being in the only country that doesn't get the benefits of this deal.

Re: European Commission Explains Why It Disagreed With UK CMA Over Xbox ActiBlizz Deal

Hutchilawd

@Wheatly the real issue here, is that the UK is corrupt to it's core. Our current government has a new scandal every week. To the point, former primeministers are even in it up to their neck for abusing power. It's the norm not the exception in this country. Get power... Be corrupt. There's no way the CMA are right and everyone else is wrong. If their ruling is overturned, they should be forced to explain to the rest of the entire planet, how they came to a not just different decision to them, but the polar opposite decision to them. It stinks of corruption and bias. This country is so far behind the rest of the world, it's actually embarrassing

Re: European Commission Explains Why It Disagreed With UK CMA Over Xbox ActiBlizz Deal

Hutchilawd

@Wheatly while you are correct. If CAT "suggests" to the CMA that they "may be wrong" and "should re examine the case", they will more than likely fall in line with what CAT "suggests". It's like when the tory party have an "investigation" and it's "suggested" someone should resign. It's that British politeness thing. CAT will basically tell in the form of asking. It then makes it look like that the CMA fully reconsidered the case, when in reality, they will more than likely do as CAT asks (tells).

Re: European Commission Explains Why It Disagreed With UK CMA Over Xbox ActiBlizz Deal

Hutchilawd

In short, what they really meant was, "We (and almost the ENTIRE world) disagreed with the CMA because we actually have a little knowledge about tech industries, u like the dinosaurs at the CMA, who are so out of touch, we think they may actually just be an extension of the Tory party".

The EU shouldn't be explaining anything. The question needs to be asked of the CMA.... Why do you think you know better than nearly EVERYWHERE else? Because, well.... They don't.

Re: Reminder: Five Games Are Leaving Xbox Game Pass Today (May 15)

Hutchilawd

I seem to be the only one looking forward to railway empire 2? I'm liking those tycoon /city builder/4x games just now. I bought Transport Fever 2 and Anno 1800 at the same time, so needless to say, I'm still engrossed in TF2 but had a quick shot of Anno and it's really good too. Civ 6 is a great gamepass game, but again, it's not a "quick shot" game. All that on top of my unhealthy fascination with No Man's Sky is keeping me busy.
I won't miss any of these games as like 85% of gamepass games, I haven't played them. Would love good recommendations for civilization type, or Anno 1800 type games.

Game on!

Re: Redfall Dev Reveals Sadness Over 'Mean Spirited' Feedback From Peers

Hutchilawd

OK. The release state of the game was crap. We know that. They know that. But to personally attack people about it is just not cool. Every AAA game that releases is awful. We all know that and expect it. So whether it's Redfall or Cyberpunk, it doesn't matter, they release, they suck. We all KNOW the pattern.

On a side note, I don't know how old Strange Brigade is, but for a bit of Co op fun, it's a good 'other option'. It's older you see, so it works, plays well, and has stuff to do. I can't wait for a year after Starfield releases.... Its going to be great, and cheaper once they fix it. Yeah, I'm assuming it's going to release in a mess.... Why ever would I do that? Oh yeah, it's because that's what happens now. Fallout 3 and 4 still have bugs.... But they are still better than most games on day one nowadays. That's just how it is.

Re: Six Games Are Confirmed For Xbox Game Pass In May 2023 So Far

Hutchilawd

Can't wait for railway empire 2,although I've still got an unhealthy addiction to transport fever 2 and no man's sky. Good list of games, although redfall just isn't doing it for me. Will definitely try all of them but railway empire and raven lock will probably get the most attention.

Game on!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 8-9)

Hutchilawd

Think I'll be playing No Man's Sky as usual. Hello games have set a standard in how devs should look after their games. The latest update is yet again, making the game even more playable.
Might finally cave in and by cyberpunk as its on sale, and see if they really have fixed it.
Other than that, Transport Fever 2, Anno 1800 were recent purchases, but are so addictable.... Then civ 6 too. Too much for one weekend but the series X will get plenty attention 😁
