Just finished Fable for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Amazing atmosphere. Better setting and more charm than the second one. That said, 2 is still the better overall package.
One tip I can give is to NOT use Physical Shield with mana potions. I had to stop because it was making the game too easy and encouraging me to play very poorly.
@Daffy-Duck You, me, and a bunch of casual players.
I still maintain hope that there will be a cheaper alternative. I'm not paying insane prices just to play some games. Haven't gone full Sheogorath yet...
I'm gonna be totally honest: all of these games are starting to look the same to me. I don't know if it's the setting, the combat, or whatever... it's all a blur.
@Questionable_Duck 2 definitely has its flaws, like the setting - taking place 500 years after the first one, if I'm not mistaken - but being watered down is certainly not one of them.
I just played 1 and 2 for the very first time, so everything is still fresh on my mind.
The first experience was basically running around from quest to quest, buying a house here and there, looking for keys, better gear... traditional RPG stuff, in a great Arthurian setting.
Once I figured out that certain spells make you unbeatable I just focused on becoming a God. Fun stuff.
The second was insane.
Started with the main quest, then quickly figured out I wouldn't have enough renown to progress unless I branched out.
Started rolling side quests. Became a bartender and got some gold. Invested that gold to buy an entire gypsy camp. Rented it all out. Got some steady income so could now afford to get married and have a kid. Used the dowry to get a better weapon so I could take more bounty-hunting quests without fear of getting scarred. Explored more, so the dog helped me find more stuff...
@Lup I can tell you that, to someone outside looking in, Fable is definitely a pillar. I just decided to jump into the ecosystem to try those four, and Fable was the first one.
@Cikajovazmaj I don't think this site reflects the opinions of more casual gamers. It's not that they have too much money, they are simply enthusiasts.
If the new Xbox is considerably more expensive than a PS6, why would I ever bother? I just wanna play some games...
@Fiendish-Beaver Keep in mind that I don't even follow the rumors. I'm just trying to speak for the other 50%. The "S casuals" if you will.
If the new Xbox is basically a PC, I'm the kind of guy who wouldn't mind playing with "everything on Low" if it just meant having access to the new stuff.

Up to 540 degrees of wheel rotation! Unparalleled immersion on this one.
Re: Report: Next Year Is 'Best Case Scenario' For New Xbox Console, Microsoft Still Unsure On Price
Oh, they better "build a range of next-gen hardware options across different price points", otherwise... I'm out.
If I wanted to pay premium I'd build my own PC and stick an Xbox logo on it.

Re: Roundup: Here's What The Reviews Say About Square Enix's Dragon Quest VII Reimagined
They better have streamlined the crap out of this game, because it used to be unbearable.

Re: Talking Point: One Year Later, How Do You Feel About Xbox RPG Avowed?
What do I think? I think one year is the perfect time for a massive discount so I'll finally buy it.
Re: Final Fantasy 7 Remake Off To Impressive Start In The 'Top Paid' Xbox Charts
It looks great but this style of combat just isn't for me.
It's one of those games that I just want to force myself to like...
Re: Talking Point: Will The Next Xbox Console Be Revealed In 2026?
2026 is way too early. Sometimes I feel like this generation hasn't even started.
The inevitable delay may actually be a blessing in disguise. We don't need a new console...
Re: Poll: How Would You Grade 2026's Xbox Developer Direct?
This one was an easy A.
Really glad I'll be able to self-insert in Fable. Minus the self.
Re: Forza Horizon 6 Officially Launches On Xbox In May, Here's Your First Look At Open-World Japan
The game looks incredible, but I'll be honest... I kinda hate drifting.
Re: Loads Of Leaked Fable Concept Art Shows Open World Environments, Dungeons & More
The real question is: can I play as a guy?
Let's say it's for... "role-playing" reasons.

Re: Poll: Ahead Of Developer Direct 2026, Which Is Your Favourite Fable Game On Xbox?
Fable 2 is the better RPG. The systems and mechanics are more vast and better implemented.
Fable 1 is the better action game. Magic is overpowered, so you can effectively break the game if you want.
Voted 2 because of the dog.
Re: Fable Creator's 'Masters of Albion' Gets Official Release Date, But It's PC-Only At Launch
This is going to attract some seriously negative comments, but I'm playing Fable 2 for the very first time and this game is stupendous.
Re: Poll: In Order, Which Games Are You Most Excited For At The Xbox Developer Direct?
Care the most about Fable. Have no interest in BoR.
Re: Report: Xbox Working On 'Major Updates' To PC App For Next Console's Dashboard
I honestly just wanted another console.
I can't even fully understand how this thing will work...

@Lup I can tell you that, to someone outside looking in, Fable is definitely a pillar.
I just decided to jump into the ecosystem to try those four, and Fable was the first one.
Re: Talking Point: What Have You Bought In The Xbox Countdown Sale This Year?
Fable and the first Gears of War.
I'm trying to play all the classics that I missed out on, for never having an Xbox.
Re: Three Casual Xbox Games Arrived For 'Free' Over Christmas, Easy Achievements On Offer
I'm glad that they exist, for those that like trophies, but I am certainly not one of them...
Re: Xbox Console Sales 'The Worst On Record' In 2025 As Microsoft Shifts Focus (UK)
@Gabrie It's the exact same in Portugal.
I'm having an easier time finding Silver Keys in Fable than spotting a single Xbox anywhere.

Re: Talking Point: How Much Would You Be Willing To Spend On The Next Xbox Console?
No more than €650 to €700 or I'll just buy a Switch / PlayStation.
In other words: if they release an X without an S, I'm out.
Re: Xbox Release Dates In 2026: A List Of New Games Coming Out This Year
I'm mostly interested in the RPGs, like Fable and Dragon Quest.
Tales of Berseria should also be good.
Re: Five Reasons Why 2026 Is One Of The Most Important Years In Xbox History
@PsBoxSwitchOwner If it's closer to the current Series X price I would 100% upgrade.
To clarify: the low-end "Series X Pro" should be closer. Not the €1000 one.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 27-28)
@Scrubchub @TrollOfWar This game is awesome. I'm definitely buying all three.
If the next Fable is as good as this...
Re: Five Reasons Why 2026 Is One Of The Most Important Years In Xbox History
@PressR2 The only reason I gave the Xbox ecosystem a try is because of the Series S.
Not only do I believe they will release another (extremely) premium console, I even believe there will be a cheaper alternative.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 27-28)
Fable. For the very first time.
Kinda late to the party...
Re: Talking Point: How Much Time Have You Spent Gaming On Xbox Consoles This Year?
50% Switch and 50% Series S.
