Talking Point: What Have You Bought In The Xbox Countdown Sale This Year?

Just Mafia Trilogy for me. Mafia 1 Definitive is great, Mafia 2 is really showing it's age but tells a good story (bit sneaky to call them both Definitive Editions but only the first one is a remake). Haven't got to 3 yet.

Going to grab Space Marine 2 as my son has just got into Warhammer so makes sense and looks great.

Phantom Liberty, AC Shadows, Baldur's Gate 3, Alan Wake 2, Avatar and FF16 are all on the maybe list but I might leave it at Mafia and SM2 as I've got plenty to play already.

The division 2 battle for Brooklyn, Mega Man 11, Avatar and Dead Island 2 ultimate edition. Mostly through Microsoft reward points, so to save now for next year

Not buying any games on the Xbox anymore (not that I’ve bought many so far) for a couple of reasons , but mainly its a game pass machine for me and barely that since they made Ultimate to expensive to be worth it imo.

Yakuza like a dragon. Love Yakuza, love turned based combat, should be a dream!

Nothing since we don’t even know what the hell Xbox is gonna be in 5 years and I don’t want to keep on collecting digital games for a system I don’t trust anymore. My backlog is huge anyway.

Nothing digital. I cannot trust MS and Xbox anymore and especially don't give a care over cloud anything. Bought a ton of physical games though most of which at or cheaper than sold digitally. Only positive with Xbox Gamepass and cloud commitment from MS is my Xbox physical collection gained almost 40% in overall value in 2025.

I have picked up Nier Automata and Griftlands. I think that's it for me. Maybe one last check before it ends....

Nothing this time around because I need to focus on finishing Metroid Prime 4 and Once Upon A Katamari and then Code Vein 2 arrives later this month.

I bought Skyrim. I’m the one person who’d never played it. Started it and I’m hooked. I love Bethesda RPGs. Just never got around to this one.

Cronos, Silent Hill f, Sunderfolk, Painkiller, Tainted Grail, Indiana Jones DLC, Nightreign, Cybercorp, Deadlink, Blades of Fire, Hell is Us, Little Nightmares 3 on Xbox, AstroBot on PS5 and Zelda Echoes of Wisdom, Dragon Quest 1-3 HD remakes and Metroid Prime 4 on Switch 2. Metroid Prime 4 wasn’t on sale but I bought it in the mess of the sale because I love the series so much and it’s a fantastic game so far.

Only spent 6 bucks on Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Not sure, I may still grab something before it ends though.

Absolutely nothing in the sales, which is most unusual for me. I am trying to be fewer games though. I have noticed that the games that I buy day one, I normally play soon after release, but those games that I buy in a sale just sit in my library. Thus, my goal for 2026, is to only buy a game in a sale if I intend to play it straight away.

I love the feeling of getting a bargain, but is it a bargain if I buy it and don't play it? Surely all it is then is a waste of money...!

I've bought more this time than I normally would, for some reason.
I've picked up Anno Mutationem, Wanted: Dead, GTA Definitive Collection, Nobody Wants to Die and System Shock 2 Remake, plus more than I'd like to admit to my wife in the equivalent Flight Sim 2024 in sim sale.

Tainted Grail

Just Arc Raiders with the help of a friend, I saw many games I wanted like Space Marine II but I wanted to buy more games on Switch and PC.

With rewards I was able to get arc raiders("play anywhere" is nice because online is free on pc) and mass effect trilogy.

@Eejay I definitely went a little crazy this year lol I was mostly looking for new stuff for the wife and I to play together (Sunderfolk has been amazing for us!) but also walked away with a bunch of SP games just for me! 😅😅

Sonic Racing Crossworlds digital deluxe. £50 all in was what I was willing to pay. (I can’t believe they copied the worst thing about Mario Kart though where if you do really well on the first two laps the AI suddenly becomes loads better for the last lap but if you don’t really try then try on the 3rd lap you will win most of the time.)

@themightyant Anthem has been delisted for a while, how did you buy it?
