I got a third of the way through Clair Obscur and it came off gamepass.
I have so much to play that I’ll have to wait til it’s on a good sale on either Xbox or PlayStation to justify it.
It’s a shame as I actually really enjoyed it, got stuck on one bit and and didn’t play it for a while and then got back into it and it got taken off of gamepass.

The update to remote play resolution will be the main update that affects me. 😬

@Banjo- I upgraded from Series S to X a few days before the recent price increase which coincided with the release of Halo. It was my first full play through of the game as I got half way through the MCC version and I thought the graphics were brilliant on it 😊
I put it in top games of the year, but understand most players have played it many many times over the last 25 years 😂

@AI-Generation I totally agree, whether it’s exclusive games or game pass they need to be good quality they keep the platform alive. No good having thousands of games if the quality isn’t there.

I’m looking forward to finally playing e day this week, plus don’t know why people hate on Wolverine so much! It’s one of the most fun games I’ve played this year, up there with Resident Evil Requiem, Forza Horizon 6 and Halo Campaign Evolved 🤷🏻‍♂️

It’s a shame as I really like the Forza and F.Motorsport games
I’ve managed to get FH4 and Motorsport 7 digitally.
These series of games are probably the only delisted ones I’d be interested in.

Silly question but if I get them on disc are they still playable on Series X?
I’ve only just changed from Series S to X so all my games are digital and wasn’t sure if these games are fully backwards compatible.

I’d like to throw my name onto the list of people who got into the Xbox ecosystem system via the Series S and I now own the X too.

I agree for £250 it was probably the cheapest console I’ve brought and you get great performance for the money.
Is the X a better machine? Yes but cost almost twice as much and performs like you’d expect for £450.
Getting fast load times, quick resume, 1080/60 or 1440/30 or even 120hz modes for £250 you can’t argue with that.

I’m all digital, but I will wait until it’s general release and have a scan through the list of any delisted games that maybe eligible.
I have Forza Horizon 4,5,6 and Motorsport 7 and 23 so maybe go back and get the older games.
I’m not sure how many other delisted games appeal to me.

I think this program is a really good idea though.

@JAYSMACK I agree they’ve always push having options to play your game pass library as one of the benefits of the subscription.
Feel like they’re always slowly taking things away one bit at a time.

I used to use it a fair bit on fire stick, but I didn’t realise I could also use remote play.
It just makes sense to use remote instead, I get the benefits of quick resume that way too.

To be fair I I did use to get a stable experience even when playing Call Of Duty campaign via the cloud. I would probably still use it if it wasn’t for remote play.

Yeah this is crap, thought they would have kept ultimate tier unlimited. I used to play football manager on my bed room to via cloud gaming on my fire stick, however realised I could use remote play instead and that way I also get Xbox rewards for playing on console.

I guess they’re really trying to undo the previous regimes “everything is an Xbox” strategy and trying to push people back towards consoles to play their games.
Just as the disc to digital program was beginning to roll out. Thought the idea of having a disc and being entitled to play digitally on Xbox, PC and Cloudwas cool.

@RadioHedgeFund I think I read or maybe I’m just assuming that it’ll be tied to your account.
So in theory you should be able to buy some discs and convert the license to digital form on your friends One X and play them at home on your Series S.

Although I could be wrong!

I personally think they are doing this to help with backwards compatibility on the Helix as it won’t have a disc drive. Therefore you could convert your physical library to digital on either One X or Series X and them freely download them them on your Helix without the need to rebuy digital copies.

I enjoy the rewards scheme. I don’t do bing or anything, just check my app, try to hit 8 gamepass titles a month and play as much as I can. Kind of got addicted to making sure I use game pass each day so just play for 15 minutes on Forza Horizon or something.
Main thing I’ve changed is I use to play Football Manger 26 on my fire stick or iPad in my bedroom via the cloud, I now make sure to use remote play to get points for playing on console and ticking off 1 of the 5 a week.

I usually use my rewards to get a cheap backwards compatible game in the sales.
I did think about saving points to get money off the 2TB galaxy Series X but it sold out before I got to my next set of points.
No big deal as got the standard Series X from Argos instead.

@AI-Generation that’s why I was surprised to see it back in stock as it was definitely out of stock 3 weeks ago. Maybe they had some returns or something they still need to sell.

I guess your right and the price hasn’t gone up as they don’t need to manufacture anymore to replenish the stock.

@AI-Generation I noticed this the other day when browsing the store via my console.

Seems strange as a) hasn’t had a price increase and b) I went to buy one 3 weeks ago and it was out of stock, which was a shame as I would have use rewards and bought vouchers from Shopto to bring the price down to £539.99.
Ended up collecting a standard one from my local Argos for £499.99 instead.

@Fiendish-Beaver I agree about prices for components, no way will the price come down, will either remain the same or rise at a slower pace.
They should bite the bullet as you said, prices in the near future are more of a known factor than leaving it.

Plus im not sure how specs work with consoles, will they be pretty much locked in and waiting to go to mass market or if they delay will they be able to slightly increase them? I doubt its the later so they are probably best releasing it sooner or face the prospect of being similar to Steam Machine where the specs aren’t quite value for the money.
Best off taking the hit on next gen and hoping that they can then bring out a more cost effective version down the road.

The first one was brilliant, thought it had fantastic story and gameplay.
I played it on Series S soo 900p 30fps.
Now I have a Series X would be great to play it again at 1440p/60fps!

The second one was brilliant too, haven’t gotten round to the dlc yet though.

I have the 3rd but yet to play it and once I do I’ll get Old Country 😊

@BAMozzy thank you, yeah have 120hz tv and usually go for high frames as possible and just wondering if anyone preferred balanced to the usual performance mode.

Will probably just stick to performance mode then, either way I’m looking forward to playing the game.
Will be doing campaign, but might give the multiplayer a go at some point 😬

@Mr-Cage thanks think I’ll go with performance mode. I don’t think I’ve ever played a balanced/40fps mode before, I try to go with higher fps or 120hz if possible as don’t usually notice much in terms of graphical drop off from quality mode.

It sounds good, I have tried the Beta, waiting for the full release.

I don’t have an issue with the age verification. To be fair I don’t have kids.
If I did I wouldn’t really have any issue with them playing adult games at around 13, would let them use my account to access them. At least you know what they’re up too then.

Don’t think playing GTA at that age has affected me, I’m 40 years old and have yet to get a 5 star wanted level and take on the army in real life or a pull a heist. 😂

Always good to have more options.
As others have said if you google the expansion you’ll see places like Very and Argos with absolute ridiculous prices 😂

Amazon seems to always be best with regular deals.
I think they have 2TB WD for £190 which I think is similar price to an internal 2TB SSD.

None of these really do anything for me, but I do love that they’re updating and evolving the console experience over time.

Payment plans can be okay if they’re 0%.
I would hate to think how much at console would cost over 2 years at standard APR.
Payment plans might have to be the way to go in the short term to make them affordable. (Although it should be said people shouldn’t take on any debt even at 0% if it’s going to push their monthly budget too tight)

Apple phones are like £600-£1000 pound now but people don’t usually think about the overall cost.

I thought it was good when Xbox were doing the two year deals with the gamepass subscription as well.

@Weebleman I agree about Helix being pre built PC with the app.
You’ll be able to access the games you’ve already bought by downloading the PC version via play anywhere and the backwards compatibility push.

They eventually go multi platform and Xbox will in the future (wouldn’t want to put a date on it!) become an app ala Google Stadia. You’ll be able to buy your games through the app and access gamepass.
With the cost of hardware skyrocketing and as people access to high speed internet increases why pay through the nose for a dedicated box that plays digital games when each tv will have access to an app that plays the same.

I got a Series X from Argos last week, £499.99 with a year to pay it off.
Glad I did as was worried about prices as they never did clarify how much UK prices were going to be. Anything north of £600 and is too high for me to warrant getting one.

UK got screwed, I think it’s because we didn’t get a price rise with the US tariffs (think US has had 3 price rises whilst we’ve now had 2).
Microsoft said the price would go up by $150 worldwide yet put our price up by £170, which is a $228 rise (£1=$1.35).
Uk price (tax included) now converts to $900.

This gen has been crazy, my digital PS5 cost me £360 at launch and is now £520.
My 1TB Series S was £270 (cheapest console I think I’ve ever bought!) two years ago and is now £520.
You can get a 2TB PS5 pro for about the same as a Series X with an additional 1TB storage expansion.

I’m in the minority here as was my first Gears game so I rate it higher than other people.
I had a blast with it on Series S 120hz.
Now got a Series X so the plan is to do E Day and go straight back to Reloaded.
Hope to play the rest of the series at some point too 😬

I’m playing Halo Campaign Evolved.
I’m really loving it at the moment, so much fun! I count this as my first proper run through of the game. I find it easier with the health regeneration, I got stuck on one those bridges in Assault on Control Room on the MCC version and took me forever as didn’t have much health. Only recently got past that!
On Combat Evolved I had a good session yesterday and already near the end of the Library mission 😊

I use the Xbox app for fire stick on my bedroom tv. I put hours upon hours in on Football Manager via the cloud until I realised I could select remote play on the app. This way I get a more stable connection, quick resume and my Xbox rewards for playing on console at the same time. Just finished COD MW 2 and started MW3 using remote play via the app.

It’s definitely a good supplement to console in the ecosystem and if it brings it additional players then it’s all good with me.

Gears Of war Reloaded was my first Gears, really loved it.
Looking forward to E Day and then will replay reloaded afterwards before 2, 3 etc…

@Cakefish it’s frustrating they haven’t mentioned UK prices only that it’s going up $150 for Series X.
I got a Series X on Monday from Argos, got a year to pay it off. Cost £499.99.
I’ve only had met Series S two years so wasn’t planning on getting the X until the next gen starts as I think Helix will be too expensive and a Series X will had next gross gen better, however I didn’t want to gamble on Series X prices going north of £600.

I’m going to keep my series S too as it 1TB and didn’t realise I can transfer games over the network so that will complement my Series X and the 1TB card I already had and my S can stay on standby and be used for my remote play sessions.

Might as well call the next gen Xbox the unicorn. People basically want it to be a better spec Steam Machine with Xbox OS and better spec and at a cheap price point. Considering a Steam Machine with Controller is $1128 vs a $800 Series X and the Series X seems to already perform better then the Helix.
God knows how much it’s going to cost without Microsoft subsidies and not making money from over store fronts.

I’ve only played the game for about an hour on performance via XSX, thought it was looking good and running smoothly during gameplay. I did notice the frame drops during the cutscenes which is a bit disappointing.
When I watch the DF video I was expecting the base PS5 to have the same issue but apparently it doesn’t which is strange.

Would be nice if that patch the cutscenes on Xbox, other than that quite a nice remake!

I guess it’s due to people getting the consoles in before the price rise.

Have they confirmed price rises for the UK?
Not going to lie I do fancy getting a Series X and keep the Series S in another to remote play on the bedroom TV and IPad.

@betterthings I guess Helix will be pretty similar to Steam Machine. Pre built PC that boots up in Xbox mode and all its games will be native PC games whilst the Series consoles get dedicated ports whilst the cross gen period continues.

@TDHorizon I saw that and another article elsewhere saying Activision was disabling certain playlists until they can find a solution.
The sale price is on for a while yet so I’m going to wait and see how it plays out before pulling the trigger.

I’m interested in getting these whilst their half price.;just waiting to hear how well the multiplayer works out. I don’t want to get them if the multiplayer is hacked an unplayable, if that is the case then I’d just wait for a sale on Xbox and play the campaigns.

I also agree they’ll be looking at E Days to decide where to go from here on out.

I agree with you guys about GPU and exclusivity.

I don’t envy Sharma’s position. She needs to increase hardware sales, game pass subscribers and software sales.
Will exclusivity with their top games do this?
If game pass numbers don’t increase with an improved amount of exclusive games, do they remove them from day one to try and increase sales?

If they did remove day one games, I’d probably be happy just to wait the year until it arrives on game pass rather than buy them. That’s my plan with COD.

They really are in between a rock and a hard place to turn things around in my opinion.

I’m a Man Utd fan and the CEO says we’re in project 28 to win the league in 2028 on our 150th anniversary. However we need 3 midfielders this summer and so far we’re missing out on our targeted players as we refuse to pay the transfer fees and wages the best are demanding 🤷🏻‍♂️

I don’t get why these bosses feel the need to make such dramatic statements, it only makes them look stupid when they (un)surprisingly don’t achieve it.

@NishimaruX apparently it’s just going to be Series and Xbox One games, but would be great if they can get it working with all generations of Xbox Discs eventually.

I kind of don’t get the argument that because PlayStation is going all digital next generation that by putting a disc drive in Helix that will give Xbox a win over Sony. I’m pretty sure those people with large PS4 & PS5 physical collections that are frustrated they can’t play them on PS6 won’t just convert over to Helix next gen…where they also won’t be able to play their PlayStation discs 🤷🏻‍♂️

The best thing XBOX is doing is the disc to digital program so that people can carry their library over to the disc less console and retain their physical collection.
This people can also sell their last gen hardware to offset the cost of the new console. Being able to trade in your old console against the new one has always been a major benefit to backwards compatibility in my eyes. Keep your collection and don’t need to keep 4 or 5 consoles around to play it all.

Gives me an added reason to think about getting a SX.
Though still can’t see any confirmation if the price rises are coming to the UK on August 1st and if so how much, pretty sure they will rise.

If I get a Series X soon and buy an Xbox One game on disc that has been delisted from the digital store (eg F.Horizon 3) I can put it in the X and convert it to a digital copy. Therefore not only do I no longer have to insert the disc into my SX anymore to play it but I should then be able to download the game onto my Series S also?
