Talking Point: What Was The First Gears Of War Game You Ever Played? 1

As we draw ever closer to the Gears of War: E-Day multiplayer Beta (August 6-10 for players who pre-ordered or subscribe to XGP Ultimate/PC, followed by the Open Beta from August 13-17) we thought now would be the perfect time to ask about your first experience with the series.

For many of us who chainsawed our first Locust grub in the OG Gears of War, will most likely remember that iconic Mad World trailer. We fell in love with Gears for its gritty cover-based badassery unlike anything out at the time. It also helped that Gears got into its groove during the golden era of gaming, when the Xbox 360 dominated and Gears was right in the thick of it.

Gears of War 2 gave us our first heartbreak, and Gears of War 3... well that tore our beefy hearts asunder that's for sure. Lots of people will say Gears 3 is by far the best in the series, largely because of its multiplayer offering - and it's hard to argue.

Some entries in the series fared better than others. Gears of War: Judgment, for example, wasn't particularly well received, and when the franchise made the jump to Xbox One, the fourth didn't quite hit either. That said, Gears 5 did pretty good, perhaps because it dropped the "of War" from it's title. I jest. But overall, Gears remains one of the best shooters on Xbox.

So, we're curious to hear all about your early days with the series. What are you first Gears memories, and how did you discover the franchise? Do you fancy sharing any fun stories or cool moments that stuck with you? Have you been a fan since ever since, or do you think the series is just a bit pants? Are you excited for Gears of War: E-Day? Will you be jumping on the Beta? Tell us all about it!
