Starfield, A Plague Tale, STALKER 2 and Outer Worlds 2 were easily the highlights of the conference for me but they're all either 2022 or TBD so that's a bummer. The only thing from this year that really excited me was 12 Minutes
Also note to game developers/publishers: Stop announcing new IPs with vague cinematic trailers that don't even fully represent what to expect from said new game. It works for franchise entries because of familiarity, but not with characters and locations I don't even know about yet.
I swear cinematic/"in-engine" trailers are becoming increasingly more commonplace and it's getting annoying
EDIT: Oh and Eiyuden Chronicle, that game continues to look superb
Let's see. I'll take one of Starfield, Redfall, 12 minutes, Psychonauts 2, Plague Tale Requiem, Stalker 2, Atomic Heart, and Outer Worlds 2. Here's my coupon.
The 10 Bethesda games coming at some point today (in case anyone else is waiting):
Arx Fatalis (PC)
Dishonored: Death of the Outsider
Doom
The Evil Within 2
Rage
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus
Fallout (PC)
Fallout 2 (PC)
Fallout Tactics (PC)
Fallout 3
Underwhelming to be honest...
Slime Rancher 2 (which is oddly a timed exclusive… )
Eiyuden being day 1 on Gamepass which is awesome because I backed a physical version and wanted a digital copy as well.
Not even a full-on demo for Halo Infinite. Just trailers. Very unimpressive.
@mwatcher True, but it was actual in-game footage the whole time, and it looks a hell of a lot better than it did before. I was actually happy with what they showed given that it looked pretty good, at least from what I could tell.
I'm expecting them to do something like that for it in the Fall to get the hype train going further. I know they don't really do things like Sony's State of Play showcases, but it's Halo.
Overall, I thought it was a pretty good show. The two new Bethesda umbrella games (counting Starfield) were announced as Xbox exclusives, which has me optimistic that they are being smart and making at least most of their future games Xbox exclusives. Kind of surprised the initial comments here are a bit meh in opinion.
@DeProff Not much variation in my opinion.
It was a mixed bag. We can finally put to rest Bethesda exclusivity. Starfield, Redfall are huge. Halo got a facelift, so yay. Otherwise the presentation was kind of dry. FH4 this year is shocking. I expected Motorsport. Lots of great stuff here if you're already in the Xbox ecosystem. But nothing to turn the internet towards thinking differently about Xbox. If you're already here or was a great show, but not much to convince people to jump in that aren't already in. Good show, great games, mediocre utilization of what was an important marketing opportunity.
@FraserG Congratulations on releasing the news so quickly! Some comments sections are closed, FYI.
Can we just thank God that Hades is finally coming to Xbox / Gamepass, and with a gorgeous physical copy? I think the overall conference was great. 12 Minutes, The Outer Worlds 2, Atomic Heart, Stalker 2, etc. I mean, these games are going to be great. To be fair, I was disappointed in the lack of Bethesda announcements, and I wish there was more info on top tier exclusives such as Avowed and stuff, but just think of all the great announcements we got today. Just let those sink in. That's not even mentioning all the big games we were wanting to have more information on such as Hellblade 2, Gears 6, Perfect Dark, etc. Just imagine what next years event is going to be like. It should be massive. With all of that said, I can understand the disappointment. For me, though — I think we are in good hands.
Games that got my attention was:
Yakuza: Like a Dragon (I bought this a couple months ago, and seeing it come to GPU made me think 2 things, 1, I hope everybody checks it out! The game is a lot of fun! and 2. I'm never buying a game again unless it's an exclusive on another console).
DOOM Eternal is getting optimised for Xbox Series X and S this month. Been waiting for this before trying it.
Hades (August 2021) ABOUT TIME!!!
Microsoft Flight Simulator (July 2021)
Forza Horizon 5 (November 2021)
Halo Multiplayer (Holiday 2021)
Halo Infinite (Holiday 2021)
Shredders (December 2021)
Atomic Heart (Too weird to not at least test)
The Xbox Series X Mini Fridges are arriving Holiday 2021.
A Plague Tale Requiem (2022)
Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl (April 2022)
Starfield (Nov 2022)
Contraband (2022) This will be a surprise hit. BET!
Game I was expecting but didn't show up:
Hellblade 2
Add the fact that almost all the games shown in their showcase comes straight to GPU makes this a very strong e3 for me even if I personally won't play every game they showed. There was more than enough here to keep me locked in for this year and the next.
@thenewguy Any game that is announced with nothing but a name and a Steely Dan track has got to be a sleeper hit because the alternative is too unthinkable to consider.
Remember you've still got the 'Microsoft Xbox Games Showcase: Extended Edition" on the 17th.
That should show us a lot more from the developers and maybe a lot more.. ?
I must say i'm realy looking forward to Stalker 2, Game looks sick.. Also can't wait to play Hades on Xbox..
@NEStalgia
That's Pretzel Logic for ya.
Atomic Heart looks great, Forza Horizon 5 looks awesome - and it seems that Game Pass will be filled with tons of fun coop games. I need to get more friends to get an Xbox.
Super pumped for Forza Horizon 5! That's the first real system seller for me.
