During the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, 505 Games and Rabbit & Bear Studios confirmed two RPG games would be coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10 PC and Game Pass.
The first is Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes - coming in 2023 and before this will be the release of Eiyuden Chronicle Rising in 2022. No exact dates have been locked in just yet, but again they'll both be coming to Game Pass.
Hundred Heroes, if you didn't already know, is the new spiritual successor to the classic JRPG Suikoden, and reached its funding goal on Kickstarter in less than 100 hours. The other game, Eiyuden Chronicle Rising, is described as a town-building action RPG set in the same world. Here's some additional PR:
"Featuring a traditional 6-character battle system utilizing painstakingly created 2D sprites and gorgeous 3D backgrounds. Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is a celebration of the JRPG genre readily associated with studio lead Yoshitaka Murayama (Suikoden I & II) and director Osamu Komuta. Eiyuden Chronicles is both a throwback to the classic JRPG games that have entertained millions and a modern, exciting tale of discovery and adventure featuring a cast of hundreds of fully realized characters."

This looks like a great spiritual successor to the Suikoden games and looks visually striking as well
Surprised this is a Game Pass title but it's nice to see Xbox get more aggressive with pursuing Japanese content and specifically JRPGs, even if this is multiplatform as well
I backed this on Kickstarter for a PS5 copy. Good to see their getting more money from Game Pass so they can make more DLC. Day 1 on Game Pass is good for the game and JRPG fans. Also this does look good.
Awesome Xbox..... Now give me persona too!!
This looks good, but I wasn't sold from the trailers. Game pass guarantees I'll give it a try, and could get into it. But.... It's so far away and there's so many games between now and then across the 3 platforms that I'm kind of ignoring anything 2022 for now.
@BearyBad I ain't holding my breath on Persona stuff until at least the 25th anniversary or after SMT V is out on Switch but Atlus works in questionable ways as evidenced by them porting P4G only to PC and not PS4 so we'll see
@TheFrenchiestFry well the way I look at is they’ve got nothing in the works after SMT V. At the very least a PS port of P4G would keep a influx of money. Buuut it is Atlus is who knows.
@mousieone They actually have a lot of things in development post-SMT V
For one P-Studio already confirmed in late 2019 that they were in active production on Persona 6, and it's likely it'll be officially announced during the 25th anniversary this year since it's also been 5 years since the original Persona 5 launched in Japan
There's also the matter of stuff like Project Re:Fantasy from Studio Zero and the next main entry in the Etrian Odyssey series which was teased in 2018 as well
I do think there's room to fit ports of older Atlus titles in as evidenced by Nocturne HD but they do have a lot on their plate
@TheFrenchiestFry I don’t think we’ll see P6 for awhile the same with a lot of their other projects. Maybe?
I am so happy this is coming to Game Pass. Day 1
Although I have Gamepass, it will be the day 1 purchase for me. Amidst of these mindless co-op shooters and rogue-like indie games, this one shines like a star.
@TheFrenchiestFry true, I can never shake this feeling that Atlus doesn't know the strength of it's own IP. They seemed shocked about the success of P5 and the port of P4
Suikoden was one of the main reasons I bought a PlayStation back in the day. Loved that game as its one of my favorite RPGs ever. So I will be definitely checking this game out when it comes out.
