@uptownsoul You are taking part of my comment. You have to read all the way to the end if you want the full meaning of what I am saying. And I am commenting on your word 'trash'. That means something else than saying it's worthless in a given context. My FULL comment gave a pretty specific context.
And I am done talking to you. I'll ignore further comments.
@uptownsoul It's just worthless in a given context, in a different context it's useful.
It's useful to know that's the intention he is announcing to the public. If he announces one thing to the public and then doubles back on it, the public will not act kindly to it. It will cost the goodwill of the customers. So it has a meaning even if it's not a legal guarantee for anything.
Calling something trash implies it's not useful in any context, and in that I wholeheartedly disagree with you for the reasons I stated above. If your intention was not to imply such things, then I suggest you word yourself better in the future as there are a lot of better words you could have picked in that case.
@uptownsoul I proved no such thing. I never said they were trash. I said in a context of what is legally binding, which is what matters to corporations and agencies overseeing the market, his statements are worthless. You are obviously not able to comprehend what others are saying or just want to twist others words to fit your agenda. So I just want to clarify that my statement was in no way a support of whatever opinions you have.
@uptownsoul Phil Spencer's words in interviews are worthless. If Microsoft decides that they won't provide CoD on PlayStation anymore, and Sony tried to take them to court based solely on a statement Phil Spencer made in an interview, the ruling would be that the statement is worthless and it has no legal binding.
This is why only legally defined agreements, such as contracts, has any worth. If there is a signed contract between Microsoft and Sony that states that Microsoft is obliged to provide CoD on PlayStation for 10 years and Microsoft pulls CoD from PlayStation before those 10 years, Microsoft can be taken to court and will lose.
However, if you as an individual care about what Phil Spencer claims he wants to achieve at the time of the interview (after all, he might change his mind later), then his words in interviews might have some worth to you (but not in some objective sense).
@Darylb88 It's a free update. And PS and Xbox went different routes when it comes to upgrading between generations, where I believe Xbox games can simply be upgraded to a Series S|X version (mean to have seen this in previous titles which got a Series S|X update).
@darkswabber There are others here that say the exact opposite of you, so obviously the haptic feedback isn't something everyone misses at all. But what difference does the haptic feedback make, how does it affect the gameplay for you, seeing you seem to enjoy it a lot?
@Richnj I have both 360 discs and XO discs that I really would like to trade in for digital. Just because I bought discs at a time when that made sense doesn’t mean I want to keep them in that format forever. You're making an assumption that everyone who has some physical discs want to keep them physical, but that is far from the truth. It’s not black or white either, many people have both digital and physical games.
@StarWarsBoom Because they would need to pay Apple a 30% cut for any purchase in their iOS app.
Well, they can avoid it after the Apple vs Epic ruling by using a third party payment system, but when they first made the app there was no way to avoid the 30% cut.
@themightyant If the alternative is larger, then it isn't as convenient. If it cannot clip on, it's definitely not as convenient. And the fact that the person chose to buy the console instead of a laptop might indicate that they don't care that much that it's proprietary in the first place.
@Banjo- I have the B9, but I assume this is pretty much the same on the C9. In which case you open the settings sidebar and select the "All settings" option (the one that opens the full settings window and not just the quick settings), navigate down to the "Channels" section, select the section so that the first option in the section is highlighted (something like this, don't know if the menu has changed since they made this image, but you get the idea: https://displaycalibrations.com/images/posts/LG_OLED_Hidden_Diagnostics_01.png), then you press the 1 button on the remote five times.
What should happen is that you'll get an overlay with lots of diagnostics, and if you press right on the remote, it should highlight an HDMI option on this overlay - select that option and you'll get HDMI diagnostics which are more detailed than the banner information. At least on the B9 it does not specify the VRR directly, but it does report the frequency of the screen there, so it should be possible to test if you have a source which you know have a varied framerate.
@Moto5 The 9 series is different to the X series in that regard. The B9/C9 does not really have any screen that tells VRR info, the best you get is the HDMI diagnostics from going into the settings menu, going to channels there and pressing 1 five times while having the first option selected.
@Microbius There doesn't exist something like maxed out graphics at 60 fps. You can always improve the graphics more at the expense of framerate, which means that if they managed to make the graphics you now see at 30 fps run at 60 fps, they could make even better graphics run at 30 fps.
Games I have tried so far that support it are Psychonauts 2, Control, Quantum Break, Hellblade, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and Watch Dogs 2.
Forza Horizon 4 does not support it, but then again Horizon 5 is just around the corner, so might not make sense to focus optimization efforts on Horizon 4.
Bit sad that Jedi: Fallen Order is not supported. I do hope they add support for it soon.
@TJ81 I think DV for Gaming uses LLDV, which means the Xbox applies the HDR and sends it wrapped to the TV (instead of having the TV apply the HDR). Maybe the TCL 6 Series does not support this mode?
@Dezzy70 The GTA V remaster should just have been a patch for the original. They do that all the time on PC, no need to make a remaster to add some improvements. And yeah, the GTA V patch is not "necessary" in the sense that it is actually available on all platforms, but Alan Wake isn’t possible to play on the PS5 with backwards compatibility and would have to be ported anyways. And they probably want to use this to promote the Alan Wake franchise, so they need to make a well enough product to sell to those that never played the original (they are less likely to be sold on ten year old graphics). So it makes more sense resource wise to remaster it in the latest version of the engine so it can easily be released on all platforms.
@Dezzy70 You played them ten years ago, but that doesn’t mean everyone else did. Alan Wake was never released for PlayStation, so there are probably many gamers who have missed out on this game. And with the fact that Alan Wake 2 will be on PS5, it makes sense to release a remaster of the original as well.
@SplooshDmg If you use the LG Magic Remote, it sends IR signals directly to the Xbox. If you block the IR receiver of the Xbox and then try to use your magic remote, it will not work. I currently have the Xbox in a cabinet where the IR signals are blocked, and then I cannot control the Xbox with the Magic Remote, so I welcome this change.
@Xiovanni Whether start tiles is the "best" feature or not is a very subjective matter. I for one didn't really think it was a feature that proved very useful and I much prefer the new start menu in Windows 11, but of course others will think otherwise. But if the onscreen keyboard is so horrible and the new icons on the start menu are too small on touch screens (I don't have any touch-enabled Windows device, so haven't tested that myself), that is of course a problem, and I hope you have reported it at the feedback hub. I thought their idea was that the new interface should be more touch friendly than previous iterations (and at least not worse) and then they really need to be aware if they are failing at that.
@DoubtfulJ When did they ever promise that 30 FPS would not give a better picture than 60 FPS? Of course a performance mode will have reduced quality, that will be true for all generations and no one has ever claimed otherwise afaik.

Re: Here's What's Included In The Xbox October 2021 Update

Also, there isn’t really any risk for burn-in in modern OLEDs, and not everyone has an OLED.
