I’ve been playing the generous 10hr trial on Series S these past two days, and I concur that Unbound certainly looks and runs wonderfully on the lesser-powered Series console.
Hope it still makes it this month. I traded my PS5 copy after putting 7 or 8 hours into the game and have kinda regretted it ever since. Fingers crossed that it’s a short delay.
My wife bought me a Series S for Christmas last year. It’s my first Xbox console since the 360 way back when, and along with Game Pass Ultimate, I’m loving the Xbox ecosystem. Such a great machine.
Though, the storage isn’t ideal and I’m now seriously considering upgrading to a Series X. Is the jump worth it guys? I mean, do games like Forza Horizon 5 and Microsoft Flight Simulator look and run that much better? If the answer is yes, now that you can actually find one in stores, I’m all in.
@BlackMayge Congratulations on your upcoming marriage my friend. Hope it all goes well next Saturday. It’ll be my 28th anniversary in January, and although there’s definitely been some ups and downs, I honestly couldn’t be happier. I wish you nothing but happiness and contentment.
As for what I’m playing this weekend, it’s God of War Ragnarok (which my wife preordered me as a surprise) on PS5 and Forza Horizon 5 on Series S (which was a Christmas present from her last year). Though I kinda want to upgrade to a Series X. Maybe this Christmas? Hint hint 😂
Though my main game is still God of War Ragnarok on PS5, I’ve recently got back into Forza Horizon 5 in a really big way. So I’ll definitely be traversing Playground’s Mexico, as and when I can, over the weekend.
I’m just over two hours into the utterly gorgeous Tunic and absolutely adore it. It’s hands down the best indie since Death’s Door, which I platinum’d on PS5. I’ll maybe tick off some more map icons on Forza Horizon 5, too.
Other than that, Grand Turismo 7 and Horizon Forbidden West on PS5.
As someone who only quite recently got a Series S and, aside from an hour of Fortnite, never actually played a multiplayer-only game before, can anyone give me any tips or advice for playing Sea of Thieves for the first time?
I only play single-player games, but I’m really digging the look and vibe of Sea of Thieves and would love to try it. In the couple months I’ve had the little Series S, I’ve only played Forza Horizon 5 (over 30 hours so far!), Halo Infinite’s campaign and Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Is Sea of Thieves something I might enjoy?
@sjbsixpack I haven’t got them preordered, but I’m definitely getting Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7, Lego Star Wars and Sifu. So long as Elden Ring reviews well, I’ll also pick that up, and depending on pricing, the PS5 re-release of GTA5 as well.
It’s an expensive next few months, that’s for sure, so Ghostwire Tokyo may well have to wait for Game Pass after all!
My thought process, regardless of my Game Pass subscription, is that if it’s really good, I’ll likely still buy Ghostwire Tokyo on PS5. We shall see I guess.
Game Pass goes from strength to utterly colossal. And it’s definitely the only way they’ll ever get me to even contemplate trying a modern Call of Duty game!
Despite my disdain for their FPS franchise, I’m really looking forward to playing other Activision/Blizzard properties like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro on the service. Maybe even Overwatch 2 whenever it eventually releases.
I’ve already platinum’d Death’s Door on PS5 and played through it once again on Switch, but now I’m gonna have to play it yet again on Xbox.. it’s just sooooo good. In fact, it was my personal Game of the Year for 2021.
That’s great news! I loved Lone Sails and have been looking forward to Changing Tides ever since its announcement. I played the first game on both PS4 and Switch, but now that I have a Series S with a Game Pass Ultimate subscription, that’s where I’ll be playing the sequel for sure.
All three of these are really fun. I’ve played them all before, but I may give The Pedestrian another playthrough on my Series S. It’s such a clever little puzzle platformer.
@PhhhCough @anoyonmus @Microbius Thanks for the replies guys! Yeah, I’ll stick with the S for sure. I’m really enjoying the little system, and I’m not overly bothered with slightly lower resolutions. I was just thinking if the Series X had significantly better visuals and performance, but as that doesn’t seem to be the case, I’m more than happy with what I’ve got. I guess I was having a rare episode of FOMO! Though I will have to get that – ludicrously expensive – storage expansion at some point, as 364GB really doesn’t go very far these days!
My wife bought me a Series S for Christmas. It’s my first Xbox since the 360 and I’m so happy. Been having an absolute blast with Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite on Game Pass. Two amazing games! It’s my third console alongside a PS5 and Switch OLED, and I’m beyond grateful and consider myself truly privileged. Buuuuut, I have an annoyingly nagging itch at the back of my mind that we should have plumped for the Series X instead.
Money isn’t exactly flowing through my fingers, but if I could manage to scratch the extra £200 together, should I upgrade? I’m a proper layman when it comes to Xbox consoles these days, so do I really need a Series X? I mean, is Forza and Halo that much better on Microsoft’s flagship console? Or maybe I should stop overthinking it and just enjoy the little white box and its near endless Game Pass treasures.
Well, I got a Series S for Christmas, which is my first Xbox since the 360. I’ve put nearly four hours into Forza Horizon 5 already and I have Halo Infinite downloading now. Great little system, this.

Re: Xbox Game Pass: All Games Coming Soon In December 2022
Can’t wait to try out High on Life. Just wish Xbox controllers supported the possibility of motion controls. They improve FPS games massively for me.

Re: GTAV Pre-Load Is Now Live On Xbox Series X|S With Launch Discount
I picked this up on PS5, as both the campaign and Online came in at a combined £8.75. More than half of what it’d cost on Xbox. Weird, right?
