Guys, I hope my Xbox friends enjoy FF16. I played it straight after Tears of the Kingdom and didn’t really fancy it. I only tried it because my wife bought it for my birthday. Two hours later, I was hooked. And nearly 80 hours later, it was (and still is) my favourite game of all time! The story is great, the music and visuals are fantastic and the Eikon boss fights are the best in all of gaming. Don’t sleep on this one, folks!
By the sounds of it, I think I’ll be waiting for the first-party Xbox handheld coming in 2027. I play mostly on PS5 anyway, but I do own several Series X|S games from when I owned a Series X.
I just read @PJOreilly’s excellent 9/10 review and thought to myself, I bet Push Square have given it a 7. Nope, a 6. A SIX! I know reviews are entirely subjective, but do PS purposely knock everything down by a point or two?
Anyway, I always love to see PJ’s reviews both here and over on Nintendo Life. They almost always end up aligning with my own opinions. Great review, as always, buddy.
I really do agree with the above comments regarding Push Square. They always score at least a point lower than everyone else, for no reason other than 'just because'. By the way, Sea of Stars also picked up a 10/10 review from Nintendo World Report.
I’ve been super excited for Replaced since its announcement back in 2021. If the dev team need more time to make the best version of the game possible, I’m all for that. I mean, it’s not as if there’s not tons of other great games to play in the meantime.
This is great news! I actually played – and loved – The Cave on Wii U, but as I don’t have that console anymore, I’ve not been able to replay it… until now. Well, erm, next week. The day after I turn 50, too. Thanks Double Fine!
I think this thing looks absolutely gorgeous… and it may well end up being the only special edition controller I’ve ever bought. If I end up digging Starfield, and it’s looking more and more likely that I will, I’ll be picking this up for sure. I also really badly want that watch!
Had my eye on Harold Halibut for a few years now. Really excited to play the final product. The animation and artstyle are borderline perfect for my tastes.
Like so many of us, my gaming time has been completely taken over by The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. I’ve put at least 25hrs in this past week and I hope to find the time for a few hours more over the course of the weekend.
Although I haven’t played anything but Zelda since last Friday, I’m hoping to find the time to fire up the Series X and play some more of my favourite palate cleanser, PowerWash Simulator. Maybe some Forza Horizon 5, too. Maybe. But with the Depths to contend with, I’m not banking on it!
@SplooshDmg @Kaloudz @Widey85 @DoctorJohnDisco This game is so good guys, I just had to buy it. This and Forza Horizon 5 are just two examples of games I bought after trying them out on Game Pass first.
I’ve already bought PowerWash Simulator on Series X and put over 70hrs in so far. I never expected to like it… let alone love it the way I do. That’s the beauty of Game Pass; getting to try stuff you wouldn’t ordinarily play. And you better believe I’ll be buying any and all DLC. This included. I’m ready, Captain!
@Thenewguy @Utena-mobile Thanks for the advice, guys! It really is very much appreciated. Downloading Hellblade now. Still thinking about Halo MCC though.
@GuyinPA75 I completely agree. I’ve played well over 100 hours of Forza Horizon 5 in the 30fps quality mode and I really can’t tell the difference. I have no problem with 30fps games.
I’m new to Xbox and have a Series X. Other than a couple hours with Infinite, I’ve never played a Halo game. With that in mind, would anyone recommend the Halo: Master Chief Collection for me to try? I heard it launched with issues and I’m also worried it might feel dated. Thoughts?
Also, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is down to £6.24. Would you guys recommend the game?
Thanks in advance, folks. I’d really appreciate your opinions! 😊
I recently made a really big decision. I’ve unsubscribed from Game Pass and bought the games I really wanted.
I picked up Forza Horizon 5 Premium Edition and Ori and the Will of the Wisps on sale along with the ridiculously addictive PowerWash Simulator while I was still able to take advantage of the Game Pass discount. So those are what I’ll be playing this weekend. Especially the Rally Adventure expansion for FH5, which is an absolute blast.
Oh and I also plan on picking up the utterly fabulous Hi-Fi Rush as soon as I’m able.
While it would be great if there was just ONE CONSOLE and everything released on it, that will never be the case. Unfortunately, if you want access to every game, you have to own every console.
I’ve returned to Dead Cells in preparation for the Castlevania DLC, which launches on Monday. For some reason I keep switching between the Xbox, PlayStation and Switch versions. I just love the game. Other than that, I’ll definitely be checking out Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty on Series X. Wish me luck! 😬
I’m absolutely rubbish at Souls games. Pretty much any super difficult 3D game as it goes. Give me a really hard 2D game though and, with a little practice, I always seem to manage. Kinda strange. Either way, I’m really excited to try Wo Long.
@Titntin Yeah, I’m both sides, too. PS5 and Series X. Switch as well, actually. So I’m always either here or on Push Square or Nintendo Life. I love my Series X and Game Pass is obviously incredible. But if a GP game really connects with me and it’s also available on PlayStation, I’ll still buy a physical copy to play on PS5. Mainly for the same reasons as you. I just love the combination of DualSense controller and Pulse 3D headphones.
@Titntin Just bumped into this article and browsing the comments has left me dumbfounded. People questioning you because you have the barefaced liberty to want to spend your own money on a game that’ll be 'free' in a years time, having a go because you prefer the DualSense, stating that they won’t dismiss what they insinuate to be sidesteps and lies…?? Just wow.
Sometimes I really can’t stand website comments sections.
What on earth is going on with this comments section? Half of the comments are removed, people are getting banned and I’m clearly out of the loop. Nothing new with that last point though.
@Decoy_Snake Aww, thanks dude. I have Crohn’s disease and had a bad flair up. They’ve booked an MRI for the morning and if everything’s clear, I should be allowed home. Fingers crossed 😉
@Decoy_Snake Thanks for the reply my friend, much appreciated. I’ll definitely check out this Bing site. I’m in hospital at the moment, so nothing better to do! 😂
@Decoy_Snake Wowsers! Please show me the way! I’m new to Xbox and only pretty recently found out about these points. I only have 2000 of them right now and they’re all accrued by accident. I really need to look into how to earn them properly so I can start adding more games to my Series X digital collection.
I wanted to buy the 360 version of The Orange Box for my Series X a few weeks ago, but it wouldn’t let me complete the purchase on the store. Maybe because I already own Portal 2 perhaps? And now I learn they are removing it permanently ☹️ Is it a game that I might be able to find physically instead I wonder? I’ve never played Half-Life 2 and I really want to.
@themightyant Thanks for such a detailed reply, buddy. I used to have a really good pair of Bose headphones that cost me over £300 getting on for 5-6 years ago, but I lost them during… a difficult stage in my life.
Yep, you’re right about it being a mind field. I think I’ll just work out a budget and take a look next time we go shopping. Yes, I do wear glasses, so that’s indeed another factor to consider. I do like noise cancelling cans, so I’ll see what I can afford.
@OskarRex @SplooshDmg Thanks for the advice, guys! I’m definitely going to pick up the Xbox headphones at some point. Hopefully sooner rather than later, but I only just upgraded to the Series X from an S, so I guess it’ll be a couple months at least.
I was thinking it’s a mashup of Sunset Overdrive, Jet Set Radio and Crypt of the NecroDancer…. and I absolutely adore it!
It’s also making me really want to pick up some headphones for my Series X now. Do Apple AirPods work with it? I’m guessing not. Otherwise I guess I could always try my PS5 Pulse headphones.
On Series X, I’m having a great time with both Psychonauts 2 and PowerWash Simulator.
Over on PS5, meanwhile, I’m also playing The Last of Us Part I and kinda wishing there was a mod to change Joel’s face to Pedro Pascal (just kidding). I’m just over 15hrs in, so I can’t have too far to go now.
Does Monster Hunter: Rise suit a single-player experience? I’ve always been interested in the series, but I don’t have friends to play with and have never even played an online co-op game before. That probably sounds weird – especially coming from a 50yr old whose been playing videogames since the 80’s!
If Rise isn’t for me, I’ve still got Persona 4 Golden to look forward to. I played the first 10hrs or so on PS Vita, but sold the handheld before I got any further. So I’ve been looking forward to an HD version to hit consoles for years.
On Series X, I’ve finally started Psychonauts 2 and what a gorgeous, clever and fun game it is! Having an absolute blast with this one.
In between longer sessions I’m also desperately addicted to both Vampire Survivors and the surprisingly excellent PowerWash Simulator – which I didn’t realise was developed by FuturLab, the talented folks behind Velocity 2X.
Whatever you’re playing, have a great weekend everyone!
I want to continue my playthrough of Cult of the Lamb, but – much like last weekend – I’ll inevitably spend another half a dozen hours playing Vampire Survivors. That game is so difficult to put down.
I was lucky enough to get a Series X from my wife, so I’ve moved the old Series S into the bedroom. Very happy. Hope everyone is having a great day, and all the best for 2023!
I’ll be trying – and no doubt failing – to tear myself away from the fabulous Vampire Survivors this weekend. It’s so good, in fact, that it’s probably my favourite indie game of 2022. Considering we’ve also had the likes of Tunic and Return to Monkey Island this year, that’s really some achievement. Over on PS5, meanwhile, it’ll be more God of War Ragnarok, which is definitely my overall Game of the Year.
Whatever you’re playing this weekend, have a wonderful Christmas!

It’s an easy pick for me. Diablo IV is my most anticipated Series X game of the entire year. Closely followed by Forza Motorsport and Starfield.
