Re: Microsoft CFO Admits Xbox Revenue Was 'Below Expectations' In FY26 Q2

The Series X is my first Xbox console. Previously, I used the Atari 2600, NES, Genesis, and PS1–2–3–4.

One of the factors that changed my decision was that, aside from The Last of Us, I didn’t really enjoy PlayStation exclusives that much. Moreover, despite very high sales numbers, Sony had halted its operations in my country. Xbox, on the other hand, was offering regional pricing. But more importantly, at the beginning of this generation, Xbox inspired confidence and hope. Game Pass, the studios they acquired, a more economical way to enter the new generation, and a more powerful console all made it feel like Xbox could make a legendary comeback.

Indeed, between 2020 and 2022, Xbox was gaining momentum. At times, we even saw news that Xbox had surpassed PlayStation in weekly or monthly sales in Japan and the United Kingdom. Of course, this was also related to the chip shortage and stock crisis, but people were not hesitant to turn toward Xbox. If Xbox had managed to release one or two high-quality games and executed good marketing, things could really have changed. But guess what happened? They made the worst possible moves. They failed to deliver an exclusive game on the level of Sony’s. Starfield fell short of expectations. Then there was nothing left that was exclusive to Xbox. Xbox, already not very well known outside the United States, remained a meaningless console.

In fact, despite all these bad moves, Xbox is still a console brand with potential. An 18-month-old series that had never appeared on Xbox before managed to sell 1.6 million copies. There is still a chance for a comeback, but I’m convinced that Microsoft doesn’t want this comeback.

Of course, as consumers we can’t understand the market as well as professionals do, but one thing is certain: “classic gaming” is losing blood. Microsoft wants to take an early position.

I have never regretted buying the Series X. I love this ecosystem and this console, but as a new Xbox user, I wouldn’t choose Xbox today amid all this uncertainty. It feels like they’re acting as if they could say “we’re shutting down” at any moment.

Re: Talking Point: Three Years Later, What Do You Think Of The GoldenEye 007 Port For Xbox?

Despite the good graphic style, fps games getting old badly. Still loaded on my series x but i didn't complete yet.

@Mr-RC Regarding the idea of retro games, I absolutely disagree. I have a lot of old consoles at home, but I often prefer to play collections that are easily accessible on my main platform. On the other hand, an unplayed game is new. If you like it, it doesn't matter which platform it was released on. How many games are as fun as Contra Hard Corps these days?

Re: Four New Games Added To Retro Classics On Xbox Game Pass In January 2026

Every game that hasn't been played before is new. Because of that, retro classics project excited me so much at first. Additonaly I can describe myself as a retro fan. I bought almost all retro collections. Especially 16 bit era is my favourite. However, as the user above also stated, this collection is full with Atari 2600 games. Game industry evolved fastly even in late 80's, these games were very old and clunky. I say this as someone whose first gaming console was the Atari 2600. They're totally unplayable. If retro classics is to have any meaning, it should have high-quality 8-16 bit games. I do not mention meanless adventure games... Old games of a dead-genre is not making any sense...

I am sure they'll add "real games" someday. At least i hope.
