Control: Resonant looked very promising.
If the John Wick game plays as well as the trailer looked, then it will be something very special.
Beast of Reincarnation, and Crimson Moon both look like they could be very good indeed.
Project Windless was probably the game that looked the most astounding in the showcase. It looked pretty amazing.
However, I don't know what it is about the game, but 007: First Light just looks... off. The melee combat has no meat to it. It looks like he's a Grandma slapping people with a wet fish...
That was the best state of play for years. Loads of games I was interested in.
Bravo Sony (and I don't own a playstation nowadays)
Isn't the james bond game multiplat too ?
Was a great show to be fair.
Isn't silent hill townfall multi
@DoomSlayer87 Yeah, not going to count it as a "reveal" though because we've seen it so many times. Same with Pragmata, Resident Evil Requiem, etc.
@StylesT Don't know yet, still waiting on confirmation.
Mixed feelings about a new Castlevania that isn't the 1999 Demon Castle Wars.
Great show, too many games too little time!
Plenty of the SoP coming to other platforms it seems
It is, from what I've read up 'till now, @StylesT. Looked really good too...
Honestly MGS4 finallu getting released outside of PS3 was the highlight of the show (and, FWIW, I do own a PS5).
Dead or Alive 6 Last Round seems to be exactly the same as it was on Xbox One X: the worst DOA ever made. They didn’t even show any new stages or characters content, unlike the release of DOA5 Last Round.
@FraserG ah okay that makes sense
@Blurd Fair enough. We classed Marathon as a "reveal" because it got a release date. Pragmata, Resident Evil Requiem and 007 First Light weren't mentioned because nothing new was revealed for them.
Dead or Alive New Project, Silent Hill: Townfall, and Rev:Noir are probably coming to Xbox as well. You can count Legacy of Kain: Ascendance, too.
Man, that Castlevania trailer got me excited.
@Questionable_Duck Ascendance has been added. Townfall website is saying it's PS5, Steam and Epic Games Store only at the moment. Will wait on more details for Rev. Noir.
@FraserG Yeah sadly I just saw the Silent Hill showcase and it seems the game isn't coming to Xbox. What a shame, and it's really disappointing, since I thought Konami would support Xbox more. Guess we'll have to wait until 2027 for this one, they'll probably just shadowdrop it on Xbox at 50% off with no marketing like they did with Silent Hill 2.
Aside from Silent Hill Townfall tho, the only other third-party games not getting Xbox ports are Big Walk, Yakoh Shadow Ops, and Kena: Scars of Kosmora. Still good to see that almost all of the games at this State of Play are coming to Xbox (aside from the Sony games ofc).
I honestly wouldn’t be shocked if the Marvel game got ported to Xbox one day as a multiplayer game like Helldivers 2 was. I don’t think Sony has even confirmed if it’s premium or F2P yet, have they?
@awp69 It's a paid game, I think you can pre-order it now in fact
I'm really excited for the new Castlevania. It's being made by the devs of Dead Cells and The Rogue Prince of Persia. They even made an excellent expansion about Castlevania for Dead Cells. I'm certain it will be very good.
@FraserG Xbox just reposted the Dead or Alive New Project announcement on Twitter, so you can add that to the list
Silent hill townfall looks like timed exclusive. I hate this policy more than full exclusive. I hope we won't wait long.
Brigandine has my attention.
Castlevania might be homage or abomination. Konami doesn’t have the best track record. The last two 2D Castlevanias they made were bad.
Lots of remasters remakes, next gen the pool for suitable games will shrink so they’ll have to remaster the remasters. Its gonna be the slow start of stagnation in the industry if not many new games are made.
@Coletrain agreed, best Sony showcase in a while. A great mix of new announcements, updates (and release dates) to already announced games and a few remakes/remasters.
Over 30 games featured, personally I was interested in over 20 of them, with more than 10 to get excited about. Kena was a brilliant way to start the show and a highlight, but they also had Castlevania, John Wick, Shinobi OPs & Project Windless (aka Co** of War) which looked fantastic. Most were 2026 too.
My only real complaint was ending with GoW trilogy remakes which are likely years away and then the 2D GoW, it felt like they were building to one more big thing that never quite happened. (I genuinely thought with all the Santa Monica stuff they were going to announce Corey Barlog’s new game.) But it’s hard to be disappointed with so many great games shown. 9/10 for me. And over half the games coming to Xbox.
Kena was my favourite and it’s exclusive because of course it is 🫠
At least I can get it over on Steam, which I definitely will be.
Still no Death Stranding 2. Me sad. =(
@wittedbugle I've been close a few times mate but the price of games and reward points (and now play anywhere) has been an effective deterrent!
@themightyant I have to say, the GoW 2D being super pixelated was not what I was expecting. I was hoping for more of a lost crown vibe
Fantastic show if you play everywhere, so many titles to look forward to.
A lot of these are 3rd party titles so many of these are also going to be coming to Xbox, so something for everyone to enjoy.
What's going on with project windless? Eurogamer are saying its PC and PS only at the minute, anything confirmed by krafton on platforms? Seems like a perfect multi platform title
@Fiendish-Beaver 007 looks major off to me too. That being said, I didn't really like what I saw when it was first revealed.
@wittedbugle why? they pretty much all third party and available on other platforms
@Coletrain yep me too!
Removed - unconstructive; user is banned
I'm digging project windless, the character seems a little odd though but anything other than that is the Rayman & Metal gear products but I've still got them from back in the day 🙃😒
@Weebleman Project Windless is official for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. We got a press release confirming it.
@FraserG excellent news, appreciated.
@PipOwO
Dead Cells was so good
It was a good presentation over one hour and several titles of interest. It seems like there were something for everybody, regardless of which console or consoles that you own.
@fraserG "Don't worry, they're not all PS5 exclusives!"
I would have said…
"Don't worry, almost everything is mutiplatform"
it’s closer to reality.
The copium here is clear for all to see:
17 titles from over 30 is not "almost everything" no matter how much you struggle to count.
I'm delighted there's plenty of titles that we have to look forward to on Xbox. But pretending that 17 out of over 30 is 'almost everything' is quite clearly deranged. "Just over half" is the correct phrase.
@Titntin 17 titles from over 30 ??? Yeah The copium here is clear ....
Personally, I’m counting Kena, Saros, the Ghost of Yotei DLC, the God of War trilogy, God of War: the little 2D game, and the latest Silent Hill — which makes 6 exclusive games out of 35. And among those 6, you have a remake and a DLC, which I normally wouldn’t even count, but I’ll leave them in just to be nice.
So 35 – 6 = 29 multiplatform games that are also coming to Xbox, PC, or both, knowing that Kena and Silent Hill will also release on Xbox — those two being the only third‑party games that aren’t multiplatform at launch.
But I understand your confusion, because PlayStation deliberately maintains that confusion by not showing which platforms the games are coming to. It’s basically disguised misinformation.
So yeah, almost everything is multiplatform or temporary exclusive for some
@FraserG According to reliable sources (sic), you are missing 12 titles in your list of 17 presented here. I guess you may wish to update your list?
Whilst I'm replying to you, it is worth stating that I see how hard you and Ben work to keep this site going and I genuinely appreciate what you guys do. Xbox may be very much my second machine, but pure has always remained my primary site, and thats in no small part due to the work you guys do.
@fatpunkslim Honestly, that's a tagline we've been using for State of Play roundups for years now, and it's targeted more at the casual gaming fan rather than the Pure Xbox faithful who already know they won't all be PS5 exclusives. I see your point though and always appreciate constructive feedback.
@Titntin I really appreciate that, thank you. Pure Xbox wouldn't be anything without its community, and I feel a great responsibility to live up to everyone's hopes and expectations. Fingers crossed we're getting things right more often than not!
@Titntin If you're counting the Sony first-party games, then yes, of course, not every game in the State of Play is on Xbox. But I'm pleasantly surprised to see that almost all of the third-party games shown here are on Xbox. Unless you were expecting Sony to announce some first-party titles for Xbox, I think this show was largely good for Xbox players.
The only third-party games not coming to Xbox are Yakoh: Shinobi Ops, Big Walk, and Silent Hill: Townfall.
The first-party Sony games not coming to Xbox include: Kena: Scars of Kosmora (published by Sony), Death Stranding 2, 4Loop, Ghost of Yotei Legends, Saros, Marvel Tokon, God of War Sons of Sparta, and God of War Trilogy Remake.
Jury is still out on Rev.Noir and Project Windless, though it seems like the latter is coming to Xbox.
@Questionable_Duck We are literally in an article numbering the releases coming to xbox. It was 17, but is now 18. I believe this site and this article.
If you look at reply #36, Ive already commented that Im delighted to see many titles available on xbox. But its not "almost everything" unless you completely dispute the information in this article.
....and yes, project windless has been confirmed as coming, which is great news as I thought that title looked great!
@Questionable_Duck Project Windless is confirmed! I've got an email sitting in my inbox that says it's an Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S title
@FraserG That's great news, thanks for letting me know!
