New Xbox Head Suggests Bringing Back The Blades Dashboard In First Social Media Posts

Following the announcement of Asha Sharma as the new Xbox boss last night, she immediately took to social media and began replying to various fans and Xbox-related accounts with suggestions and acknowledgements.

The one that's getting all the attention relates to her suggestion to "bring the blade dashboard", which clearly is a reference to the iconic dashboard that shipped with the Xbox 360 back in 2005.

Team Xbox has said over and over again how the blades dashboard wouldn't return, with former Xbox exec Major Nelson mentioning back in 2022 how "they don't really scale, as we say in the business, to what we want to do".

Nevertheless, we did get a blades-style background in 2024 to mark the closure of the Xbox 360 store:

Who knows whether Sharma is being serious about bringing back the blades or not, but we do appreciate how responsive she was on social media last night. The aforementioned Major Nelson, for example, suggested that "partner[ing] with the community" should be a key focus for the team, which she acknowledged and appreciated.

It does feel like there's a lot of doom and gloom surrounding last night's Xbox leadership changes, but we want to give the new Xbox head every chance to impress us going forward — this is a massive role she's stepping into, and she's clearly enthusiastic and passionate about trying to make Xbox as good as it possibly can be.

Could the return of the Xbox blades dashboard factor into that? We wouldn't complain if it made a return!
