Re: Xbox Exec Sends Fans Into A Frenzy With Random Social Media Post

I’ve said this since the acquisition was announced. Surely there are new options for BC that open up because of this deal. If not Tony Hawks (since that itself has an external license I guess), then at least Wolfenstein 2009, and the Crash and Spyro games.

However since most games that are BC end up getting remasters, I can understand if Xbox feels it’s a little pointless now. Unfortunately.

@themightyant to be fair they are hiring for Sea of Thieves also; which released in 2018! So doesn’t mean too much; other than the fact that the game still exists (which is good to know).

That being said I don’t see it as a 2024 game. I feel like 2025 is the due date for a lot of these projects; Everwild, Perfect Dark, Fable, South of Midnight, Clockwork Revolution etc (maybe Gears 6) but they will space them out.

@Mephisto2869 lol that escalated quickly; guess I touched a nerve? Sorry for upsetting you.

I said “about what” as in about what games specifically? If LocquaciousB was talking about Diablo and Cod; and I was talking about HiFi Rush and Redfall… what was your comment about. It’s quite simple… but nevermind.

Everyone debating over how Xbox can catch Playstation in sales; but being in third place in sales doesn’t mean an individual can’t have an incredible time with it. The amount of games I have played shows how good a console it is, especially those played on Gamepass. In a world where everything is super expensive and I have a LOT of outgoing costs; Xbox is the most affordable one of the three and lets me play games all year round for the same price as one PS Studios game. Already a good few hours in to Like A Dragon Gaiden, for example.

Also I know most don’t agree but I much prefer Xbox’s IPs to Playstations and that is not even including Zenimax and ABK.

Since exclusives are so important; I do have hope that Xbox can provide a solid catalogue for the rest of the generation (and beyond). Almost every game announced I am excited for (still never got into State of Decay though…).

My issue with this generation is the lack of new IPs. 2006-2009 was the height of all that: Dead Rising, Assassins Creed, Gears of War, Borderlands, the reinvention of Fallout, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Dragon Age etc. Thats what I want to see happen again.

What a great day. Interested in all 3. Dungeon Keeper 1 is in my top 5 all time favourite games. I have tried the “Dungeons” games before and they aren’t quite the same - that goes to War for the Overworld. But maybe 4 is different. I will try it.

Like A Dragon is up first though. Very excited for that as a taster before Infinite Wealth. Got it downloading at the moment; who cares is I keep freezing on my teams meetings?

And Wild Hearts looks good to get to eventually. I really need to give EA play more love before the deal expires. Only EA game I have played as part of GPU is Dead Space.

I saw this post earlier and immediately set it up. However logging into the actual xbox with it is a pain? I hope it keeps me logged in and it was just because I changed the password at the same time. Also i checked my login history and between the US and Germany it seems everyone wants to have a go at my password every 15 minutes or so. Quite scary actually.

My account is about to be 18 years old 😮

The entire Yakuza storyline has been incredible. If anyone wants to get into them but is intimidated by the time sink - there is always the option to just blast through the main story and ignore the side content. Sure you would be missing out on what makes these games stand out; but the story would still be awesome. I basically did that for 3, 4 & 5 as the gameplay has aged a bit on those 3. Got the 1000gs in 6 and Like a Dragon though .

The problem is; Yakuza 0 is the best starting point but man the first chapter or so of that game is a slog. If you can persevere then the story is so rewarding. I love it. Only games I haven’t completed now are Ishin and Lost Judgment but going straight into this as soon as it hits Gamepass. And very excited for Infinite Wealth.

@GeeEssEff fair enough. And it definitely is no Elder Scrolls. But yea I was just curious about how many hours people expect to get out of their games. Like when I see people saying they played through a game’s campaign once and then never touched it again and see that as a disappointment…. But that is pretty much how I play all games these days as there are so many.

I took a break from Starfield after about 40ish hours to finish off some other games and it’s next for me to go back to.

@GamingFan4Lyf I agree about the scoring. All Sony has to do is put one tear-jerker moment in their cutscenes and they will get a higher metacritic score. Also a linear cinematic game is using a lot less complicated systems than something like Starfield; so can be polished to a different degree.

I remember back on PS2 most of my fun was through games like the Dynasty Warriors series. Which always got trashed review-score-wise but I loved it and bought every single one because to me it was fun. Somehow people are just more obsessed with scores these days. We are all so dialled in it’s crazy. I have had more fun with Starfield and Hi-Fi Rush than anything else this year. Their Metacritics are in the 80s; I played them as part of my subscription and loved them. Late last year I bought God of War Ragnarok and got extremely bored I dropped it after 7 hours even after spending £50 on it. That got a 94. I also dropped The Last of Us Part 1 after a couple of hours as it was even more boring. I’m starting to think what makes these games a 90+ is not what I want from a game. The whole system just seems to skew in favour of PS.

In October I have finished 3 games; Hi-Fi Rush, Ghostwire Tokyo and Deathloop. All first party and all on Gamepass. If you want awesome single-player experiences they are there. I feel like Xbox will keep Zenimax as their single-player dominant arm (perhaps especially after Redfall which I still need to play) and mostly exclusive. ABK will be their (mostly) multiplatform arm and XGS will carry on being rooted in their old IPs and games of all different sizes and scales (where you get things like Minecraft Legends, Sea of Thieves, and Pentiment).
