Re: CMA Reveals Public Feedback Has Been Mostly In Favour Of Xbox's ActiBlizz Acquisition

@Would_you_kindly "PlayStation success hasn't prompted Xbox to improve that subscription-based service"

Well yeah, Live Gold is basically a legacy service at this point that they are basically forcing everyone away from. So you're talking about a very tiny subset of people at this point... Especially when consider that Live is not required for F2P online games anymore which makes up the bulk of the major multiplayer games (Fortnite, Warzone, Overwatch, Destiny, Halo...etc), and anyone with common sense or like straight better value would have grab gamepass for like a $1.

Re: Amazon Games To Publish Next Tomb Raider, First Details Revealed

Floki

@NEStalgia Technically, Embracer group isn’t a publisher… They’re a holding company just like Take-Two. They own companies that publish games, but they themselves don’t publish anything.

But Amazon also published Lost Ark which was their first big break in the game industry, so it seemed they realized that they are better off publishing instead of developing. Due to every game they tried to develop have end up a flop.

Re: EU Responds To FTC's Concerns Over Microsoft's Acquisition Of ZeniMax

@Would_you_kindly While Starfield is a high profile game. Sony has way too much leverage in the game industry now. They have compete domaince over industry with the PS4 which they still hold with the PS5. That leverage would get them the exclusivity.

TBH Sony could buy up exclusivity for every major game and no one could say no. Their console sales and sale of games on their platform show that games will still sell really good regardless of an Xbox version or not, so why not get that extra money from Sony.

This is why Xbox are doing massive buyout. They are passed the point of being able to compete a lifestyle brand on equal footing. No one is gonna buy an Xbox even if they dropped 20 AAA 10/10 games a year.

Re: Xbox Series X And S Have Been Next-Gen 'Market Leaders' In The US

Floki

If the numbers are down from last year during the same time period. It not surprising... No one is getting stimulus checks anymore; the price of living have massively increased; people are able to go back outside and on vacation, so they aren't spending time in front of the TV anymore which means they have to buy gas... The price of that have also massively increased. I'm personally now having spending $5.50 a gallon to put gas in my v8 mustang... Most of my income is going towards that and not gaming.

Re: The Exciting Prospect Of ActiBlizz On Xbox Game Pass Is Starting To Feel Real

Floki

@Chaudy No. ATT spin-off both WarnerMedia and Discovery Inc into one company, Warner Bros. Discovery. Before that it was WarnerMedia that own the IPs. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is the game publisher who handles making licensed games of WarnerMedia/Warner Bros. Discovery owned IPs

EDIT: If Microsoft wanted to continue makes DC, Harry Potter games... etc After say buying Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. They would have to license them out from Warner Bros. Discovery. Just like Sony is licensing out Spider-Man from Disney.

This probably why no one have bought those studio even after multiple reports of them being for sale. The studio are completely worthless without the IP, and licensing the IP would probably cost an arm and a leg.

Re: The Exciting Prospect Of ActiBlizz On Xbox Game Pass Is Starting To Feel Real

Floki

@Chaudy All of those are licensed IPs (Besides mortal Kombat) Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment does not own the rights to them. Their parent company Warner Bros. Discovery owns them. If Microsoft bought Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment they would have to get the licenses for any DC, Harry Potter, Lord of Rings... etc properties. Warner Bro. Interactive Entertainment is basically worthless since they don't own any actual IPs.

Re: Xbox Exec Wants To 'Celebrate' Other Console Platforms More

Floki

@dsar9012 Sony also own Sony San Diego, but here we are with MLB the Show on Xbox and Switch. Sony doesn't own Spider-Man, they're only borrowing the license from Disney, and if Disney wanted Spider-Man on Xbox... They would have to put it on the platform or potential lose the license.

Re: Xbox's Phil Spencer Celebrates 'Bungie Day', Shares Kind Words For The Studio

Floki

@pip_muzz MS never really understood or respected the talent that they owned with Bungie. They just wanted the Halo IP, and someone to pumped them out. I used to call Bungie the Naughty dog of Xbox. Sadly, no other studio has been able to hold that title since they left.

I always wonder how different the Xbox One generation would have been if Bungie had stayed with Microsoft, and created Destiny only for Xbox.

Re: These 50 Games Are Coming To Xbox / PC In The Next 12 Months

Floki

@uptownsoul " I still can't believe xbox will have no exclusives in the entirety of 2022"

Which is untrue. They have Pentiment which is an exclusive first party title. You can't just disregard Pentiment because it isn't a big AAA game. They still have an exclusive, no matter if AAA or indie. An exclusive is an exclusive. If they wanted to just speak about AAA game. Then they shouldn't have made a statement like that, and then try to haphazardly fix it in their next comment

Re: These 50 Games Are Coming To Xbox / PC In The Next 12 Months

Floki

@uptownsoul Uh... Most of the platform holders agree with that statement. Microsoft makes a lot of smaller title release Pentiment is a prefect example of that. We wouldn't get games like Grounded, Battletoads (2020), Recore...etc. Yes platform holders do want a big AAA release that sell systems, but not every exclusive has to be a big AAA release

Re: These 50 Games Are Coming To Xbox / PC In The Next 12 Months

Floki

@UltimateOtaku91 An exclusive is an exclusive. It doesn't matter if it a system seller or not. To be honest, I rather have Pentiment than another Last of Us.

It great that Microsoft is actually trying and releasing different things instead of just releasing the same super cinematic third person games like Sony. The Obsidian Entertainment so far has been Microsoft best purchase.

Re: Playground Games Seeking Experienced Senior Gameplay Animator For The Next Fable

Floki

@Bleachedsmiles "Fable should have been given to obsidian or someone with rpg experience really."

While Obsidian would have been a good choice... They would have also been a terrible choice. They aren't British, and a lot of that Fable comes charm from British humor and what not. Which is probably why the IP was probably passed to Playground. Who would be a good British developer for the IP?

Re: Xbox One Is Probably Here To Stay, Whether We Like It Or Not

Floki

@themightyant So there was really no reason for you tell me what you had in your system.

Steam Survey is no place to boost about specs. That what reddit is for. Lmao. So no, it not gonna be skewed heavily towards hard-core gamers.

"If the majority of gamers DID have fast drives don't you think developers would have tapped into that by now? They are the ones most hamstrung by this and the ones that want to move forward the most, but they can't yet because the larger market doesn't have the hardware yet. It's not rocket science."

The larger market being consoles, not budget PCs. How games are designed and developed are hamstrung by consoles due to console players being the biggest spenders.

Like I said, AAA gaming on PC is niche. Gone are the 80, 90, and early 2000 where PC games actually pushed the hardware. Big budget game development is dead on PC. Any developer known for pushing hardware are either console developers, closed, or shadows of their former self. Now it nothing but indies and MMO.

The only time developers taps into that hardware is when there a new generation of console that support it, or a stronger sku.

The extremely fast storage space in PC will only now be used cause of a console base API.

Re: Xbox One Is Probably Here To Stay, Whether We Like It Or Not

Floki

@Richnj I'm not talking about the current set of games on the market. I'm talking future games. Also developers aren't obligated to consider the variables of people using HDD. Developers can set whatever target they want. If they want the game to only run on intel... they can do that. That is literally why they put of spec sheets for games.

Plus they didn't take in that consideration when they started pushing out DX12 only games knowing full well 10 series cards had poor support for the API.

Re: Xbox One Is Probably Here To Stay, Whether We Like It Or Not

Floki

@themightyant First, considering the fact that I've seen you on this site, and it sister site tells me. You're not primarily a PC gamer, and have other platforms. So if a game doesn't play "right" to you. You'll just play the game on another platform. So it not super surprising you still have HDD in your PC.

Second, Steam hardware survey is a stupid tool to gage anything. It doesn't take in account people who turned down the survey or the thousands of "gaming" PC in internet Cafe that had steam installed.

But yes, having the newest hardware is niche, but playing the latest AAA gaming on PC is niche as well. Most people are play F2P, indies, and games that can run on $100 laptops from Walmart. So of course the overwhelming majority of Steam players are gonna have low end hardware. You only need a 1060 to play Steam top 10 games.

There is probably a massive overlap of gamer with the latest hardware playing the latest games.
