Ubisoft Issues Statement On Prince Of Persia As Pre-Orders Are 'Delisted'

It's been a month since Ubisoft announced yet another delay for the Prince of Persia: The Sands Of Time Remake, this time because Ubisoft Montreal is taking over lead development on the game from Ubisoft Pune and Mumbai.

Since then, various retailers have been delisting their pre-orders for the game, and Ubisoft has issued a statement to IGN in response to this, confirming that the remake is no longer targeting a release in FY23 (before March 2023):

"The development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will now be led by Ubisoft Montreal. We’re proud of the work achieved by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, and Ubisoft Montreal will benefit from their learnings as the new team will continue the work to deliver a great remake."

"As a consequence, we are no longer targeting a FY23 release anymore and the game has been delisted. If players wish to cancel their preorder they are invited to contact their retailer. They will be updated on the project as the development is moving along."

The remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands Of Time was first announced all the way back in September 2020, with an ambitious release date at the time of January 21, 2021. It was then announced as delayed three times between December 2020 and June 2021, before the change of lead developer was announced back on May 3rd, 2022.

The good news is that Ubisoft Montreal was the original developer on The Sands Of Time in the early 2000s, so there's real hope that the team can deliver something special - we just hope the delay announcements are over now!
