Re: Poll: Now That The Dust Has Settled, Which Xbox Game Pass Tier Are You Subscribed To?

Briarback

@DoomSlayer87
I doubt it’s a EU thing. I live in Sweden (which are a part of the EU), and the price went up here…. I went from years with Ultimate to PC Gamepass and sold my Series X. A shame, really. I do miss the Series X though (I/we have a Switch 2 and PS5 Pro as well, but i would honestly rather play on the series x instead of the PS5 Pro). That price hike was a digital spit in the face to be honest. But I’ll keep playing gamepass on my gaming rig, i guess.

”Spit out great games with great story telling? You mean Indiana Jones? South of Midnight? Any other game? They're not even close to PlayStation's efforts this gen like: Ghost of Yotei, Stellar Blade, HFW and so on.”

Ok. Are you seriously mentioning those specific games on the PS5? Not exactly anywhere near top 100 in story on those 3 😂
Stellar Blade’s worst part is the story for Christ sake. The studio head almost apologized for it 😂 (good game though, but would probably have sold half without all the tits and ass).

Horizon ZD and FW aren’t exactly Last of Us level of stories now are they? I’d rather take dude-bro gears over those two story-wise.
Ghost of Yotei is revenge game nr.893, good but not great at all. Tsushima wasn’t great either with the story (loved the game though).

Indy and South of Midnight are both great games, by the way. South of Midnight actually tries something new, compared to every other game you mentioned. Indy is, well, Indy 😂 But it does it well. South of Midnight surprised me with how good the music, story and storyTELLING actually was.

And I’m not insulting you at all, wth?
I’m just not agreeing with you.

I’m also somewhat confused about some of the points you’re trying to make.

Like the one about FH (ok, franchise, not FH5 in particular. Sorry). I bet a lot of PlayStation owners rank the Gran Turismo games as Sonys best franchise as well. I think it’s quite obvious you’re not exactly an Xbox fan 😅

I respect your opinions though, you can think and feel however you want. I just don’t agree with a lot of the things you say.

Re: Ninja Gaiden 4 Performance Is Impressive But Xbox Series S Visuals Suffer, Says Digital Foundry

Briarback

@MrStark

First of all. I’m not an Xbox fanboy. I game on all systems, including PC. Second, I love Uncharted. I even bought Uncharted 4 on release day in Tokyo (vacation) and I cherish that Japanese copy the most out of all the games I own (for several reasons).
And I agree that Sony first party studios have made some amazing games with amazing storytelling (and I’ve played them all since PS1)

But I still don’t think you can (especially in the last few years) just say that ”Xbox” makes poor storytelling games. That generalization is simply too much these days. Since, once again, MS now owns SO many studios ie: first party studios, that spit out some great games with great story telling.. Just in the last year alone there’s been some amazing examples.

And the fact that you say that FH5 is the best story game (or what was your point?) they’ve made lately and that it’s a racing game. Once again, what was your point? Because MS first party has released some great more story (and gameplay) focused games in the last couple of years. FH5 is indeed great. A great racing game. But yeah , I guess you somehow took FH5 and made that into some point that they haven’t released any good games since 2012, or close to it? Man, your taste in games must be extremely selective 😂

If you simply mean it’s the best they’ve made since 2012, yeah I bet more people think that. I mean the game is highly regarded, I wouldn’t take that as something bad..? I mean, if you think it’s THAT good, great.

Personally I love FH5, but I don’t think it’s the best they’ve made the last 13 years, not even close.

Re: Ninja Gaiden 4 Performance Is Impressive But Xbox Series S Visuals Suffer, Says Digital Foundry

Briarback

@MrStark
Wait. What?
First of all, Platinum Games isn’t owned by Microsoft. Ninja Gaiden 4 isn’t a first party game. Most games on gamepass are not first party games (that’s the beauty of it). Second, Microsoft have tv-series made out of two first party franchises (Halo and Fallout). The Fallout tv-series is great! I really liked what they did with the Halo series (yeah. Shoot me..), but I agree that the Fallout TV-series is the better out of the two.

The “MS can’t make games with a good story” is getting real old to be honest.

Nowadays MS owns so many studios that they release first party games with great story AND gameplay every other month, basically.

Your comment honestly reeks of a lack of knowledge of the subject matter, on several fronts.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 25-26)

Briarback

@kelomaniack

Gotta love that Ninja ”Garden”! Where Ninjas literally grow on trees!

Seriously though. It’s NG4 here as well. Playing on GamePass PC. God damn the game plays great maxed out in 120fps at 4k.

I also jump between that and Top Spin 2K25 (where I’m top 10 in the world) and BF6 (and Deep Rock Galactic Survivor).
I also just completed Donkey Kong Bananza on Switch 2, great game!

Re: Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Will Now Get 75+ Day One Titles Per Year, A '50% Increase' On Before

Briarback

A lot of people here are making quite, frankly, stupid remarks about how impossible it’ll be to have the time to play 75 games per year. Omg, it’s not the point of the increase in games released day one. The point is that more people will probably find games they like, if more games gets a day one release on gamepass.

Obviously, few people plays and beats every day-one release as is.

This will make Gamepass better. But yeah, depends on what kind of games we’re talking about (as others have mentioned), but I doubt it’ll be worse.

And yeah, they’re adding Ubisoft classics (with the EA classics that were already there), but it’s not worth the sick increase. I’m going with PC gamepass from now on, which also got a price increase, but still way cheaper than Ultimate. I do NOT like that they have nerfed how much MS reward points you can earn on everything below Ultimate though! That was a god damn cheap shot!

I might cancel everything in the end. But I’ll try PC gamepass for a while at least (got Ultimate now, but just sold my Series X anyway..).

Re: Major Retailer Seemingly Clearing Out Xbox Series Stock In Certain Regions Right Now

Briarback

All retailers in Sweden have dropped the Series X. The Series S can still be bought at at least one big retailer. But a Swedish gaming news site asked the retailers, and they all basically said the same; Microsoft isn’t supplying them with any units.. It’s also a big difference in the amount of physical games on the shelves in most stores here. Tons of PS5 games, almost as many Switch 1/2 games and barely any Series X games.

It’s just so curious… They keep increasing the console prices beyond comprehension, at the same time they seem to remove the consoles themselves from sale. 🤯

Either way, it feels off.

How can you release a new console in 2026/2027, while at the same time you basically drop out of the console market altogether in 2025?? Seems counterproductive..

It’s like they have given up.

Re: Square Enix's Triangle Strategy Is Shadow Dropping Today On Xbox

Briarback

It also released on the PC Windows Xbox store! Might be worth mentioning in the article 😁

I just have to find out if it supports 21:9 ultrawide before buying. It most likely does NOT though. Square-Enix seems to hate putting in any extra effort to include UW support. Most other devs do though.

Now, this is an older game, once Switch exclusive at that, so i can semi-understand it in this case. But it would be nice if they for once at least put in a little more effort when re-releasing these games (except for just upping the resolution), looking at you Octopath 1&2 👀 (even the FF VII games and FFXVI lack UW support on PC).

Re: No, The ROG Xbox Ally Handheld Doesn't Play Native Console Games

Briarback

Oh, btw. Completely off topic. But I was really BUMMED they didn’t show any new controllers. Apparently, as we know, they’re working on at least a new Elite controller. I was REALLY hoping to see something. But nope..

The current controllers’ longevity is a JOKE, as most of us know. The Elite 1’s and 2’s/Core are not worth the price. But when there’s no better alternative….

The standard controllers are also crap in the longevity department. The only one’s that are worse are the Switch 1 joy-cons (the Joy-con 2’s seem a bit better).

We need new controllers MS! With better QC and build quality, please.

Re: No, The ROG Xbox Ally Handheld Doesn't Play Native Console Games

Briarback

I LOVE the PlayAnywhere initiative, I really do. I regularly jump between my pc and series X, picking right up where I was with cross saves!

But… It sounds great with that ”over a 1000 playanywhere titles” line. But the truth is that a TON of those games are half-unknown indie games. Most third party games is not on the list.

And if you have GamePass, you already have access to these playanywhere titles, which is great ofc.

But my hope is that all the third party bangers end up there as well. Sadly it’s mostly the GamePass titles, with a few sprinkles here and there (FFXVI 2 years later etcetera..). My dream is that all games released on Steam gets released on the Xbox Store as well, complete with those sweet achievements 🥳😁

But we’re far from it at the moment 😞

Re: Call Of Duty Goes Co-Op With Black Ops 7, Coming To Xbox Game Pass This Year

Briarback

Honestly, the Black Ops 6 campaign was fantastic! I loved it (and the MP is fun, to be honest), so I’m actually psyched for this.

I don’t really get all the naysayers that haven’t even played a cod in years, but is the first in line on the hate band wagon.

The Blops 6 campaign is generally seen as great (give it a try if you have GamePass). The last few 3-4 campaigns have been good, even. Clearly the games are loved by many, considering their popularity. I guess the hate seen on comments sections are the negative few. As always though, the people that are happy rarely post about it..

And no, I’m not a sweaty teen spending all my time with COD. I’m 44, but I can still kick ass online in a whole bunch of games. 😁

Each to their own ofc. I do applaud them for still making campaigns though! 🥳

Re: Talking Point: It's Been 20 Years Since Xbox 360 Was Revealed Live On MTV

Briarback

I turned 25 that year. Ahhhh the memories! Golden era for sure. I’ll never forget playing Gears 1 online and ending up in a match with a bunch of Brits and Americans (I’m Swedish) and they were in a full on war of yelling at eachother. The brits made fun of the Americans and the Americans went more and more upset. It was a blast! 😂

Back then more people were on voice chat in online MP. These days you’re lucky to find anyone with/using a mic in OW2, and CoD (that isn’t 35, acting like 12 making weird noises). I’m conflicted with Xbox releasing games on PlayStation, but ever since DON f-cked up the Xbone launch, MS has been fighting for their lives. They have to do this to make money. From a business perspective it’s a clear win, obviously. But it’ll be hard to sell any potential future Xbox console on the prospect of GamePass alone.. I do love GamePass though, been on GPU since day 1, using it on both PC and Series X. But, yeah. It’s both tough, and great, being an Xbox fan at the moment. Conflicting feelings!

Sure, I own the Switch (soon Switch 2) and PS5 Pro as well. But my heart belongs to Xbox 😁

Re: Amazon Adds 'Frequently Returned Item' Warning To Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller

Briarback

@Tyrant_T103

You’re 100% correct.

Just a shame that it’s not just the sticks that are the issue. LB and RB are extremely poor as well. My second Elite 2’s RB went down completely. My second Elite 1 got double taps on both LB and RB. And RB are giving me occasional double taps on my latest Series 2 Core…

I’ve opened up and cleaned a couple of them. But it didn’t hold for long, if at all. And I shouldn’t have to either after 7-8 months when I’ve paid so much money. Sigh.. I hope the rumored next controller has much better QC.

Re: Amazon Adds 'Frequently Returned Item' Warning To Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller

Briarback

@BowDownToZod

I’m 44, 45 in December, and I baby my controllers. I’ve still gone through two Elite 1’s, two elite 2’s, and my elite 2 core is getting worse… but works. But I’ve had to tighten the sticks a notch, and the RB is getting some double taps, but it’s still relatively rare. But I know it’s gonna give up on me sooner rather than later.

And I’ve gamed almost as much on PC and PS5 (more on the Series X though), but still they break down.

I play all kinds of games. Single player games and multiplayer games. A lot of Overwatch 2 etc etc. I never throw or bash my controllers. The QC is simply crap. Maybe you’ve been extremely lucky, I don’t know. Maybe you don’t play much at all, I don’t know. But ive been gaming since the 80’s, and the quality of controllers are DOWN, clearly down. No question about it. I love the Elite Series 2, such a shame that MS somehow manage to create two very expensive controllers (three with the Elite 2 Core), and they all have such poor quality. They are GREAT when they’re new, but they don’t last nearly as long as they should considering their price. For many of us at least.

Re: Microsoft Posts 'Farewell' Message As Xbox Game Pass Mobile App Goes Offline

Briarback

Like others have already pointed out; the PS app is so much better it hurts. Sigh.. I wish MS could get a move on and make the Xbox app better, like way better, than it currently is! Just to be able to buy games would be a start! You can do that, and download/see/manage the storage on your console in the PS app on both Android and iOS. Why the hell can’t the Xbox app have the same functionality??

It’s embarrassing that the world’s biggest software company (biggest company overall even!) can’t match a Hardware company like Sony when it comes to making a great app.

Re: Talking Point: Whatever Happened To The Xbox Elite Controller Series 3?

Briarback

I love the Elite Series 2. But man, durability is the worst of any controller I’ve ever had!! And that goes for both series 1 and 2… I’ve bought two series 1, one series 2 and one Series 2 Core. Only the latest bought, the Core, is still working as intended. But I notice a trigger sounding squeaky sometimes, and that the sticks are getting a little looser. And it’s less than a year old.

And I’m careful with my controllers. It’s a real shame the actual build quality is so bad (feels superbly built though in your hands).

Same goes for regular Series S/X controllers (but amazingly enough it’s like the Elite’s are worse off!! Considering their price ffs..).

And the same goes for the PS5 Dual Sense by the way (stick drift mostly there, while I’ve had more issues with buttons on the Xbox controllers, except a Series S/X controller that got stick drift and a faulty RB within 6 months…).

A shame the quality is piss..

Re: Xbox Plans April Release Dates For Two Upcoming PS5 Ports

Briarback

It really is extremely weird, isn’t it? That the Series S and X are no where to be found basically. It’s the same here in Sweden. Not a single X or S in stock anywhere…. I could have understood it if a new console was on the way, or if the S/X sold like hot cakes. But we know none of those things are true. So yeah. What the hell is going on?? It’s almost like they’re exiting the console business completely like ninjas, except in plain sight. We know that’s not the case though, obviously. It wouldn’t make sense.

But no consoles to buy basically anywhere doesn’t make any sense either!

Baffling to be honest…. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Re: New Nvidia Ray Tracing Footage Gives Us A Fresh Glimpse Of DOOM: The Dark Ages

Briarback

@BacklogBrad

Woah… Chill. 5070 will not perform as a 4090. The released benchmarks is with DLSS4/frame gen, most of which will also come to the 4-series. I personally don’t like that frame gen is used to make the new cards look so much better (frame gen overall introduces more latency for the perceived illusion of higher fps, OK for certain games though). It also often comes with weird image artifacts etcetera. But in raw performance the 5070 won’t be near the 4090, and it’s extremely weird that Nvidia chose to have 12GB of video memory on the 5070, that in itself is very crippling in anything above 1440p (even at 1440p in several new games, speaking of experience with my 4070Ti 12GB on a 3440x1440 ultrawide).

And while I agree that the PS5 Pro is overpriced, you do get more than just a GPU… You won’t get far with just a GPU 😅 You need a PSU, CPU, RAM, Motherboard, Harddrives, case. Etc etc..

Re: Xbox Fails To Make GOTY List, But Still Gets 11 Nominations For The Game Awards 2024

Briarback

My god there are a lot of salty god damn comments here! Hahaha. ”My niche game didn’t get picked, I hate this show”. Ffs grow up. I know 90% of you have some other ”reason” for spewing your whining and hate, but no one buys it.

Anyone responding to this with some kind of ”cool” response will only reveal yourselves as exactly the ones I’m talking about.

As with all award shows ever made in every category ever, not everyone can win, obviously.
And I don’t get the hate for DLC, sure a lot of DLC’s are CRAP. But the Elden Ring DLC is better and bigger than most full games ffs. If you make a DLC like THAT, you deserve a nomination at least.

Re: Microsoft's Xbox Gets Another Revenue Boost From Activision

Briarback

@TheEstablishment
Perhaps for you consoles means nothing?
For some of us they do. And we know this isn’t 1995, but consoles are selling extremely well now in 2024, just not Xboxes.. Sadly. PS5 and Switch are selling like hot cakes.

I game on most things (Series X, PS5, Switch, PC etc. etc.), but I love my Series X (and my achievements ). I do NOT like the idea of there being no more future Xboxes. Time will tell.
