Xbox is currently in the midst of working on a brand-new Xbox PC app that should start to roll out before the end of 2026, and the good folks at Windows Central have already been getting their hands on an early version of it.
You can see the footage up above, which shows off a familiar yet also quite different design to the one that's currently employed by the Xbox PC app, complete with what's said to be a "big performance boost" in terms of navigation.
Here's what Windows Central's Jez Corden had to say after playing around with it for a while:
"First impressions revolve around performance for me. This is a lot faster than the previous app, particularly when it comes to loading in my large 1400+ library of Xbox titles from across the years. It's a lot easier to see when something is actually installable now, or just stream-capable from Xbox Cloud Gaming.
The navigation between game listings is also a lot more streamlined. There's no longer two separate pages for games, and both the store listing and game listing now share a single interface."
Despite the differences on display, Corden advises that there doesn't seem to be "a ton of new functionality on offer just yet", and that it seems like the big focus is on improving performance and usability.
It's obviously still early days for the app and it's not been officially released yet, so who knows how it might evolve in the weeks, months and years to come. For what it's worth, the Windows Central article suggests that it might become available for Xbox Insiders within the next few weeks, so we'll keep an eye out to see if that happens.
