@OldGamer999 Do you ever actually play and enjoy games or you just analyze them to death until you're pissed off? Unless you work for them none of that is your job, so don't worry about it.
@Traygor I will not own a PlayStation or anything made by Sony because they are a terrible company. They steal purchases and remotely brick hardware from people because they feel like it, and that's coming from personal experience multiple times. If I want to play Playstation exclusive games I buy them on PC and only DRM free. I do not trust that company with anything at all whatsoever and neither should anyone on the planet. They have proven time and time again that they are not trustworthy and they are thieves. How and why people keep doing business with them is mind-boggling. Look at just recent news, they've taken away people's purchases and that whole Helldivers 2 thing. The Xbox ecosystem and hardware is a lot better suited for me. A lot of the things I buy on and for the Xbox also work on the PC as well as a lot of my hardware and accessories. If for any other reason I can't stand their damn controllers, they are absolutely horrible and uncomfortable, poor quality and no user removable batteries. The Xbox controllers let you do whatever you want (except Elite 2). You can use non-rechargeable or rechargeable double A's or use a battery pack or just use it wired. You asked me a loaded question and I'm not going to just keep on rambling about why I can't stand Sony or Playstation so I'm going to shut up now. I will say this, I used to have PlayStation 1, 2 and 3 and I actually liked them better sometimes than my Xbox or Xbox 360 but that all changed because of the way they treated me.
@Blackadder I saw that deal and actually have the page open in a tab deciding if I should buy it or not. Is it a good game and a good deal should I get it?
@Traygor Haha, oh yeah, sorry I was halfway awake when I wrote that. What I'm saying is there is all this doom and gloom news that's overdramaticizing everything about Xbox just because they're doing something unorthodox and unconventional. They don't see the big plan that Microsoft is preparing for. Microsoft sees where gaming and technology is going and they see how it's shifting and they're just adapting. I'm not saying they're doing it all correctly in my opinion, but I think they have to do something or they're going to get left behind. I think in the long run they will be the ones prepared for what the future brings and the others will get left behind if they don't adapt and change. They have all the pieces of the puzzle to make gaming awesome and successful again, it's up to them to put them together correctly. I used to work for Microsoft when the original Xbox was released and I still have some friends that work there. Sometimes they feed me little bits of info here and there to let me know what's going on behind the scenes. All I'm saying is get ready for a whole bunch of awesome.
@Meehanuk_1987 I think Microsoft just realizes they are limiting themselves but trying to stick with treating Xbox as just an ecosystem tied to a certain piece of hardware. Xbox has become pretty much just an ecosystem that's going to be available on any device, which is what everyone has wanted forever. You buy a game once and it works everywhere on anything you play it on and you get the best version and cloud gaming is included as well. Like I said, that's what everyone's been asking for all these years and they're finally getting it and now people are upset about it for some reason. Microsoft owns so many studios now that it would be stupid to try to contain all of that within the Xbox hardware only ecosystem.
Now this one was very to find so I had to start playing it right away: Harold and Kumars Epic and Fantastic yet Stoned as Hell Journey to the New White Castle "Dazed and Infused Edition" restaurant. You can unlock NPH as a playable character as well as his Doogie Howser Skin.
@Ricky-Spanish I'll never say goodbye to Xbox 360. I will be buried with all of my Xbox 360 consoles and all of the games. I guess I should start looking for a bigger casket now.
@NEStalgia I bet that's exactly what happens. It will still give console people a choice when they just want to plug in a box and play it, but it will be around the same price as a comparable PC for the people who want to customize.
@NEStalgia Damn, PC gaming is still expensive. I guess that's why I've been mainly console for so long. Also, I got my processor model number wrong, it's a Ryzen 5 7640HS not 8640HS. I don't know what difference that makes.
@NEStalgia The games I was playing 1440p/120 they were set on high and some of them I was using DLSS on quality. Those aren't brand new games though but it was doable and on older games I was running 4K/120 and wasn't even maxing out anything. The last game that I played that was I guess considered newish was Horizon Zero Dawn and I played it at 1440p/60 with everything on high using DLSS on quality and capturing at 1440P/60. I was hitting 85% GPU Max and CPU was like 3%. As you already know, it varies greatly form game to game. My laptop is a Lenovo Legion Pro 7i I think. I forget the exact model number. It has an AMD Ryzen 5 8640HS, Nvidia RTX 4060 8GB and from what I can tell it's one of the higher wattage ones, 32 GB of RAM, OS drive is a HQ Hyinx 1TB SSD and my game and capture drive is a 2TB Samsung 990 Pro. It came with 16GB of RAM, I upgraded it to 32GB and I added the Samsung 990 Pro. Those things were not included in the $900 price I paid. Now that I think about it, I have a few games that run at 4K/120 or 1440p/120 on the Series X. Doom Eternal runs at 4K/120 without ray tracing and Mass Effect Legendary Edition runs at 1440p/120, one of the Battlefields runs at 4K/120, I forget which one, Star Wars Battlefront 2 runs at 4K/120.
@NEStalgia Damn, really? $750 for 1080p/60. I have a gaming laptop that can do 1440p/120 on most games while capturing, that cost me $900.Oh wait, I just realized I got that thing on sale. I think it was normally $1,500. So I do see your point. Still, that much for 1080p/60? Something doesn't seem right with that. An Xbox One or PS4 is like $120. I guess I was right for sticking with console gaming for so long. I just recently got the gaming laptop. I really only got it for capturing my Xbox consoles, then I realized that "it is a gaming laptop" so I went down that rabbit hole.
@NEStalgia Really, it's still that expensive huh? I thought maybe that would have come down a bit since 2020. I'm guessing we're getting at least Xbox One / PS4 performance out of these APUs in cheap PCs now.
I think PC may be where everyone goes for gaming. The console space is turning into a s_h_i_t show. Integrated graphics is getting pretty powerful, so the price of getting into PC gaming could be as cheap as getting a basic PC from Walmart.
@JayJ Yes, this. Can we just just go back to that? Oh wait, they don't want us to own anything. The need to either shut down Game Pass or reserve it for games that don't make money anymore and use it as a way for game preservation. It creates an incentive for them to participate in game preservation if people will pay for it and then everyone gets the guarantee that digital games will stay accessable.
@Kevw2006 You can get it at Walmart for $5 on disc, even the Series X version. I was just there and saw it with my own eyes. Too bad I already have it.
I think the gaming industry as a whole is being destroyed from the inside out. For some reason, greed has become the priority. They seem to forget that money rolls in when you make good products. Instead, they try to cut corners to maximize profit. They don't realize our should I say, have forgotten that the best way to maximize profit is to make and sell products that people can't resist. Also, maybe the gaming industry is moving too fast. Maybe we dont need huge open worlds in 4K. Maybe just focus on 1080p or 1440p/60, make them the equivelent of being set on high or ultra and focus on content, story, gameplay. You know, the things that actually matter. We play games to engage in a story and become part of it. Graphic fidelity should not be where all of the budget is focused. I have a feeling that is where a lot of the problem is. All you have to do is look at Nintendo and the proof is there. I understand that these companies have to make money, but it seemed to be working just fine in the Xbox 360 days. Maybe they should look to back then and see what was working and do that now.
@Kooky_Geezer No need to go back in time to choose another box. Just enjoy the box/es that was/were good. That's what I do. I only game on Xbox consoles and PC and have been since day 1 and even I've pretty much decided I'm going full PC if they don't stop doing things that are detrimental to the gaming industry. I bought 2 more Series X when they were $349 for the Diablo bundle just as backups because they were gonna be my last consoles. Also because they were rumored to be the last disc based ones as well.
I think I'm getting old. The most portable gaming device that I want is a laptop. It's mainly due to screen size and I really don't like holding that much weight and holding it closer to my face than I would a controller. After a while, it's just uncomfortable. A laptop has a much bigger screen and you can use a normal controller. The only downside is that it doesn't fit in your pocket, but I don't think any of these current portables will fit in a pocket either. My gaming PC is a laptop and it is hooked into my gaming TV most of the time, so I guess I already have my version of a switch. I do have a handheld Anbernic device that I play from time to time for retro games. It's only a three and a half inch screen, but it's very lightweight and the graphics don't have lots of detail, so it works out.
@Scummbuddy Does it do anything extra? I'm still contemplating if I want to get the Stella internal mod, I forget exactly what it's called. I don't feel like installing it myself, so I'll probably just find another 1.1 Xbox and send it into them to have it done. I already have the Xbox2HDMI and the Pound adapters. They seem to work just fine even though I prefer the pound cable. It's just a little more accurate I think. I would really like a true HDMI output though.
@Gollum I have them packed away, they are nowhere in my way. I hate clutter so bad, so I know what you are saying. I'm just trying to do my part in video game preservation.
@Gollum I stack up on consoles when they are cheap or need minor repairs, refurbish them and then archive them for the future. I have 6 OG Xbox ver. 1.1, 8 Xbox 360 (5 are S, 3 are E). Then I went and got 2 more Series X Diablo bundles when they were $349.
I think there is hope. Indika and morbid look like the kind of games we should be getting from the AAA developers. I guess indie is the new AAA and AAA is just suck.
I went on the Xbox 360 store just to see what non B/C free games that I wanted and I finally got Doritos Crash Course. I'm not 100% sure but that one may actually be B/C. Anyways, I got it after all of this time. I still need to see what I'm gonna buy, other than Call of Duty Classic. I've been holding out for years just to see if that one will ever go on sale and it never has to my knowledge. I'm going to wait until July 23rd out of principle.
@CERBERUS40000 I have no problems with Xbox Live on my Xbox 360 or playing an Xbox 360 game on my Series X and connecting to Xbox Live that way. Maybe you are having some technical issues.
I will choose performance if my options are 30 and 60 fps. If my options are 60 fps and 120 fps, it really depends on the situation. What good is all of that extra detail if you can't see it properly? It is hard to see detail in motion at 30 fps. Games screens are moving a lot most of the time. One of the reasons higher frame rates exist is for that exact reason.
@Kooky_Geezer "Blah blah blah, Xbox is failing because they aren't doing what I want them to do, blah, blah, Microsoft doesn't know what they are doing, blah, I bend over for PlayStation blah, blah, my butt hurts, blah, blah, Xbox sucks, blah, its the end of Xbox, blah, blah, blah". Yes, yes, we've heard it a million times already. Nobody cares, we are too busy having fun, enjoying what we have. Meanwhile, I'm watching Sony and Playstation self-destruct and nobody seems to notice.
Maybe, just maybe.... We forget about all of the companies business and let them worry about it. We should all just focus on enjoying all of the wonderful games that exist, since that's what we are all in it for.

Yes, yes, we've heard it a million times already. Nobody cares, we are too busy having fun, enjoying what we have.
