I am on a gigabit connection with an average speed of between 750-850mbps. I have my Xbox Series X wired DIRECTLY to my router. Yet, I had nothing but E03 errors for most of yesterday and when I DID get on, there was quite a bit of latency to the point I could tell there were frames missing.
I was playing Pitfall for most of the session and even managed to make second and third place after adjusting for the lag. But even still, there shouldn’t be ANY lag or latency on a simple 2600 game.
I can understand that for a more modern game or even Mechwarrior as it’s a PS1 game. But not a game from 1982.
I’ve played Pitfall so much over the past twenty five years to the point I can outlast the time limit or damn near almost every time. When you’ve played that much, you know how the mechanics work. You’ve got it committed to muscle memory. I’ve played on legit hardware, emulators, and FPGA. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had with it.
This review should’ve been done by someone who had plenty of experience playing the original 2600 carts, not just some reporter who had it assigned to them, then the issues would’ve been more apparent and pronounced.
@WildConcept6 and I even bought that 2TB Series X as an upgrade to my launch one as well as getting the Microsoft Complete for the 3 years on it in anticipation once I saw the PS5 Pro price and Sony raising the PS5 prices everywhere else but here. EVERYONE I knew said I was nuts. But not only was the internals better with a smaller CPU and less power and heat, but now the price increase on top of that. At least I got a console that’s guaranteed for three years that runs more efficiently than my launch X.
@kmtrain83 I already said that Switch 2 might be my last launch as I’m approaching 40 and my physical health isn’t getting better. I doubt by the time the next gen hits I’ll be able to stand in line, much less be able to drop $1000 on a console.
I know I was and was proud of it. I loved my little black box.
I was working then as well as school (I was 17 going on 18) so I also had the screen too. I’d bring it to school and at lunch, my classmates would be on it playing Smash and Soul Calibur II. Some of the only fond memories around that time.
No Xbox will ever come close to the 360. It was the ONLY time that I stuck with Microsoft as my main console for almost a whole generation. Before that, it was the NES, Genesis, Playstation, and Gamecube. After that, it was the PS4 and now the Switch. Even though yes I have all three consoles, it's my Switch that gets the most play.
It’s great as a streaming box. It’s great as a way to play existing games that are remastered to take advantage of new tech (like RGB SCART over Composite), but there’s nothing there to really wow and amaze me graphics wise. PS5 has with Returnal and Resident Evil Village as well as Astro’s Playroom. Microsoft needs to put out new games and yesterday. It’s like I been telling people since launch (and yes I have both before anyone accuses me of being a fangirl), Microsoft had their console ready but their games weren’t. Sony had their games ready but their console wasn’t.
To me, the ability to have batteries future proofs it. I’ve seen WAYYYYY too many PS3 controllers need to be opened up and have new batteries installed because of the constant play over 15 years time. Whereas if I wanted to play with my 360, I can just pop in a couple of Eneloops without having to disassemble the controller.
Well if they didn’t shoehorn in a main character no one liked or wanted, made it a beat em up or action game instead of an RPG, and made it pick up and play, it would’ve sold.
Got a Series X AND Series S. Don’t have a gift card at all. You’d think with spending over $800 for two of their consoles, they’d at LEAST kick me back $5
Was more a GameCube gamer during that generation but Halo 2 made me and my late partner finally get an Xbox that October. Good timing too as her PS2 bit the dust with the whole not reading discs thing, so we mainly gamed on Xbox from then forward. Doom 3 though was the best experience I had for that particular system, especially when if you think about it, almost a year prior you needed a souped up rig to play it and yet now you'd be able to play it on a system you actually own. I STILL have my steelbook of it!
Then, you're supposed to figure out a password to open it. On that Instagram, there's these codes. If you use Base64, the come up as password like string.

Re: Xbox Announces 'Retro Classics' For Game Pass, 50+ Activision Titles Included
@Fishticon I mean they’re ***** Atari 2600 games for Christ sake….how much trouble does it take?
Re: Xbox Announces 'Retro Classics' For Game Pass, 50+ Activision Titles Included
And of course I can’t play anything…..E03’s all around….don’t know WHY they couldn’t make this downloadable instead of streaming only…..

Always gotta be one step ahead when possible.

HVNSENT. Like to think of myself as a speed angel like in those female action movies.

Re: Get A Free Copy Of Halo 5: Guardians With Monster Energy
Nothing at all. Seems like a sham to me. Created an account and can’t even log in most of the time. When I can log in, nothing is there.
Re: Talking Point: What Is The Worst Xbox Game You've Ever Played?
@LtSarge a lot of the issues that were present in the PS2 and Xbox versions: crappy controls, cheap deaths, and some real horrendous missions.
Re: Talking Point: Were You A Fan Of The Original Xbox 'Duke' Controller?
D-Pad and button placement was crap. Other than that, it was okay but I much prefer the S controller.
Re: Poll: How Many Xbox Consoles Have You Owned In Total?
At LEAST twelve or thirteen of them. With about eight or so just being 360’s.....damn red ring....
Re: Pick One: Which Was Your Favourite Xbox One Launch Title?
@gollumb82 don’t think it’s on Game Pass unless your copy is a PC/Console combo
Re: Pick One: Which Was Your Favourite Xbox One Launch Title?
Ryse was amazing. I still play it every now and again.
