@NEStalgia Yep, My PS4 Pro/jet engine was the reason I bought my first Xbox, One X. When I first saw the PS5 design I said thats it, no more PlayStation, another rocket engine. But then we found out about the size. With the GPU being overclocked to an inch of its life I'm presuming the size is all cooling. Generally, the larger the fan and cooler the less noise. But who knows. I don't think we have seen a PS5 in real life let alone heard one

If its DOOM then that's not new news, they already told us this was happening by buying the studio that made it.

So this must be the Assassins Creed leak, If it's one game and it is really big news I can't think of anything better. It would be a great launch offer!!

If it's SEGA it may help Xbox in Japan. The size and style of the PS5 will be an issue for a lot of Japanese homes if the console will be in the living area. Having a good selection of JRPG's the small size of the S, the understated look of the X will all win favour. And Game Pass launched in April so MS must be looking to keep on trying to get a foot in

Not planning on buy many games on Xbox, I'm here for Game Pass and those generation defining games. I've pre-ordered Cyberpuck physical and will pick up a disk here or there but anything on Game Pass will be played on game pass

The ugly look of the PS5 went some distance on moving me to start the generation on Xbox for the first time, the one X is my first Xbox after 25 years of PS. The Xbox design is really good for function. One large fan pulling a lot of air through a tunnel with little impedance. I also think it looks great. Good modern minimalist design at its best.

The PS5 on the other hand, to my eyes, looks like a dyson reject screaming "Look at me, Look at me" Its style over substance. I'm sure they have a reasonable cooling solution in there but it's far from optimal.

It also helped the the X was the more powerful of the two by some way, when it comes to boost vs base clock speeds gaming is a marathon not a sprint. If your game is over a minute long that is

Anyone in North London need a X I have an extra one on order I don't need. I got one for me from MS store and One for my sons birthday from Amazon. Of course he called me last night to tell me he'd snagged a X pre-order. Guess it will save me some money, I ordered him some Cyberpunk swag instead. A lot cheaper

I got one direct from MS and I got a second from Amazon thanks to a link shared here, both X's. My oldest Son's birthday is on November 12th so his present is all sorted well in advance. Seemed to be a fair amount of stock in the UK.

I can already see the big "Microsoft Games Studios" splash screen when DeathLoop and Ghostwire release on PS5. It's such a clear troll for it not to happen. PS will also have commited to spend X amount on marketing for each game so we may find PS paying for Microsoft game studio ads.

@Rikdangerousxd In truth i can wait, I have a 2080 in my home work PC but I don't like playing games on it. I want the separation between work and play. I'd like a Ryzen 3 / 3080 build going straight into the TV and get the Index out of the office and set up in the games room. AIB pricing seems really off this time, even more so as the FE are looking like decent performers now they have proper thermal designs.

@Rikdangerousxd I tried to get a 3080 founders. Not a chance. went from notify me to sold out in one page refresh! Did nab a PS5 but I'm going to cancel that and wait for a smaller black release down the line. I have a SX to play Cyberpunk on and gamepass will keep me covered for a long while!

@Xiovanni I think most pre-orders will be for the X. I see the S as the perfect fortnite machine. It's the one to buy for younger kids or to play FIFA on. I don't think those people are racing to pre-order so I think the X would be in most demand. But demand will differ from ordres based on what is available.

Amazon UK sold out, MS still taking order it seems

Just nabbed a second one from Amazon, That's my Eldest Sons birthday sorted. Just hope I don't get a message in the next 10 minutes saying he got a pre-order...

I decided last nite to cancel my PS5 and jump to SX for the start of this gen. I got one direct from MS UK. Load of errors bringing up the final confirm order page but its done, and with game pass and Cyberpunk £510 is all I need to spend to get my gaming on this Holiday season!! Wooh Wooh

@GamingFan4Lyf The S will probably not have the VRAM for 4K texture packs so I don't think it will X versions. Simplified but in a game the CPU deals with all the AI, Logic and physics. The GPU loads the textures, raps the wireframe, lights the scene and adds image post processing. So the S will load lower res textures and apply to lower polygon (resolution) wireframe. So all the complexity of next gen but lower res. The 4K textures will most probably overrun the memory. It will play One S versions buttery smooth I would expect. All of this is just guessing though

So I understand than on the smart delivery will strip out all 4K assets from the series S downloads so game files will be different between the two systems making the smaller drive on the S go further.

I'm sure a lot off none branded cards will appear on the market over time. speed rating is not that high and the are just nvme drives with a modified interface

@IronMan30 Our price does include all tax. No state sale tax add at the till. So its not a great deal of difference

@Tharsman Air flow looks good, I think its a single 140mm fan pulling air in from the side out of the top. I'm going to presume that its a well designed low profile cooler under there. Looks to me like it's made to quietly cool more than the rumoured 4TFOP of FP32. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess this little pup will push as high as 6 to 7 tflops.

@BlueOcean @RedShirtRod That's a good point. The colour makes it very clear which is which. "Hey mum, I want a XBox for Xmas, the black one not the white one" Works perfectly. Easier than trying to get your granny to remember stats that make no sense to her.

I hated the white PS5, and I will wait for a black one to be released but that is screaming top of its voice "Look at me, Look at me" The S is small neat and discrete. Given all that I would be happy to have one out under my TV. I won't have, I'll have a SX but visually with it being so small and neat I quite like the white.

no, I'll be getting a SX but at £250 its the perfect machine for the fortnite generation. This and a 3 months gamepass gift card will likely be what I buy a couple of my nephews for Xmas though.

So we can see some things from looking at the design, It seems it is also using a single 140mm fan same as the Series X with a large air intake on the side (It could be a smaller 120mm fan on second look). This is a solid cooling layout that will move a fair bit of heat without to much noise. It also points to what is likely in the box. It will need the same CPU design and core count. MS is already running the SX version at reasonable speeds which will not build a lot of heat so we have a lot of heat design left on the table for the GPU. This unit will get 100% of sales through xbox services so will generate secondary revenue. I can not really see them putting in a 4TFlOP GPU. In fact I think this will have something like a 5600 with 7.4 FP32 TFLOPs.

My main interest in November is CyberPunk. Now if MS could drive a truck of money to CDPR and make sure it is released with its next gen xbox patch it would mean more than Halo to a lot of folks (Idea floated by DF)

I'm not really fussed about Halo myself. I'll get a SX as it's the most powerful console and game pass is great value. But I'm not traditionally a XBox player so don't have any historic attachment to Halo.

Sorry guys your reading it wrong, its clearly says 𝐗𝐛𝐨𝐱 "𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐗" | "𝐒" We already know this. MS has stopped making the One X but will keep selling the "S" as its entry level machine for now.

I'll be watching live and hoping to be able to order one after the show with the price reveal.

I think this gen Xbox will be my day 1 buy, purely on the bases it is the most powerful by a good distance and its being sold in black. I'll pick up a PS5 later but I'll be waiting till they sort out the colour. CP77 will be my starting game but will be watching to see what else is in the works.

Price, be good to hear what the new studio's are upto but Xbox will be my multi plat console. same as the the one x is and I will also get a PS and have solid PC if I want close action so I'm happy to give MS time to get first party back on track. A long term commitment to game pass would be great though

I only bought a one X last year because my PS4 Pro sounded like a jet engine. But since then I have bought all my multi Plats on Xbox. It performs better and its very quite. I don't do multiplayer on console so no need for gold. Game pass is great but I let it run out after the three months trial I had. If I start next gen with the XBox, and it's looking like the best hardware right now, I'll punt for game pass ultimate PC and Xbox and just top up with my must haves.
